Taupau the coward?

As I said, would you have preferred Taupau to have not fended Johnstone and Johnstone had stripped him of the ball? Regardless of whether he is over the line or not, which we all know Taupau wasn't when he fended him off. I will stand by my statement that it is ridiculous to ask a bloke to go easy on a defender. :roll

And I will definitely lose sleep tonight.

Ah that's no good buddy, don't let it get to you that much.
But maybe, while you are tossing and turning during the wee hours of the morning, shoot off an email to Johnathan Thurston and ask him if he could please refrain from kicking off in the direction of Ben Hunt next weekend because that would be a thug act. Remember to say please though

Normally when a big guy picks on a little guy or a defenceless person (or woman) we call them a coward. Well that is exactly what Taupau did in Manly verses Wests Tigers last Monday night, he is about 40 kg heavier than Mitch Moses yet attacked him without the ball. That is outside of rugby called a coward's punch. Fancy having to dip to such low tactics against former team mate and youngster.

Our team is doing well so this is the stuff we worry about when we have nothing else to worry about….. :unamused:

Yeah, Pat should've immediately stopped, turned around, walked up the Jenson and said " geez sorry about that champ….here let me give you a hand up and here you go, here's the ball back". GNR's ideal game of footy would be a joy to watch. Political correctness gone mad.

Coward is a very harsh description, but I can only recall him committing what I regard as dog acts against the smaller guys. Didn't appreciate his antics at WT, so sure as hell don't like his carry on now.

Seeing him smack Maloney when in our colours still irks me and his cheap shot on a grounded Mania last week was weak as. I very much doubt that he would be parading his cheeky smiling face in melees if players could still smack it without getting sent off and/or suspended.

Laugh at me if you must, but if it were a Storm player who we were talking about you'd want him lynched and everyone here knows it. Look forward to the irony the next time you get salty about your mate Cam gaining an advantage in the ruck.

Maybe not a coward, but definitely a thug. The fend on Johnstone last yr was an example. No it wasn't illegal but it was a grub act IMO[/quote

That has to be a jokeGNR surely, it has to be one of the best fends I've ever seen, perfect.

Yes, I must. :roll

Is it OK if I use your original quote as my sig? It was too good to just gloss over…..you should at least get some sort of credit for it mate.

BBF, not having a shot at you, but did yo see tonight's game against the Titans ?.
Passi, one of the biggest blokes on the field , whenever he was taking the ball up looked for Cherrington even at times running cross field to get to him, exactly what you were callingTaupau a coward for.
Does that make Passi a coward as well.
No.
It's just a fact of life in football at most levels. Both were probably following their Coaches instructions. It's called spotting
-in game plans mostly a spot player ( mostly halves)will be singled out for the forwards to run at, and make him have to do as many tackles as possible against the big boppers
Which tires the player, and blunts his effectiveness in attack.
Happens every day. Part of the game.

Hi, I saw until 11pm when the stupid closed their doors. I know that happens but what upset me was that Taupau was attacking Moses after Taupau played the ball and the captain and ref did nothing about it. He could have been charged for attacking a player without the ball. I concede it's trying to milk a penalty but that is tactics that Robbie or Benny would have tried to get away with.

From what I seen you could have cheated and got down to about row 5 as the seats were mostly empty

Over dramatising things a bit aren't we.
Our forwards would do exactly what TauPau does if and when they could, I didn't see you complaining about him when he was playing for us,
I don't think it'd worry Moses too much
He's got a mouth on him anyway, and if he wants to bait opposition forwards, he'll expect to get something back, and probably will.

Its not over dramatising it when u look at Taupau's history. Dog shotting little halfback Adam Reynolds from behind, dog shotting little 5/8 James Maloney when he lied defensless on the ground….notice a trend? Said all along this guy is a cat.

Meh.

We applauded it mostly when he was with us.

It looks more like a few fans that hold a grudge he wanted out. Big deal. It was nothing. Hardly connected.

And Moses had been swinging his arms around Tapau in the tackle anyway.

He's a big guy that likes to try & intimidate. If a small guy actually does get intimidated, he shouldn't be in 1st grade.

Play on..

Besides, in the wash-up, his little stick at Moses won't match up with the ribbing he would have gotten from the hit Nofa put on him.

Little winger owned big tough Marty.

I didnt. I said many times when he was with us he's a cat. I stated i was happy he got suspended late last year and we will be better without him. We then won the next two games while he sat in the grandstand

All cats are brown, and this white cat is the exception to the rule that proves the theory..

Wish we had him on Sat. Night. We needed someone to slow up the Titans half in the second half. None of our blokes could do it.
