I understand, but we would have had almost two week to test him out.

Also, I think it’s most unlikely that he wouldn’t have been working on himself over his break.

By occupation he’s a rugby league player, it’s his profession, this is what he does.

I suspect he’s poured as much cardio and strength into his body as he possibly could. And coming from the panthers system and having friends and family in the sport, he’d be taking every advantage of that, even if he’s not in a team.

Plus footy players, their bodies adjust over the time and can recapture their strength and guile a lot quicker than us mortals!

That’s just more of an insight into your brain then anything else . We win this weekend and a few results to our way , and we are in 8th spot .
We are NOT coming last this year . The titans , eels , dragons and knights (who are just taking advantage of the origin period , and will return tot just mediocrity soon enough) , even manly have fallen off a cliff and are looking like dads army all of a sudden .
I’m actually confident against the raiders . I don’t see anything there’s that makes them this “we have no chance” rhetoric even remotely true .
They’re playing above expectations as a team. But there’s just as much chance they fall off a cliff , as there is they will maintain this current white hot form . Same for the warriors .
For the first time in a very long time , the nrl seems to have found relative parity amongst all 17 teams how anyone can make a prediction one way or the other is Nostradamus level predictions .
With Fonua and Alex back , I’m far more confident . And why would we want to fight a big pack with a not as big pack ? And play their style of game . We are better off trying to move them around , quick play the balls , turning the ball inside , and get our edges one on one with theirs as much as possible . Especially Bula and Toa .
May is simply not ready . Once again it isn’t 1980 where blokes can come off the back of a garbage truck straight into first grade . The amount of contact training , and wrestling you need to get your body right is next level.
No amount of training prepares you , for the impact of even Sydney Shield or Massey , let alone nrl . It takes weeks for your body to adapt and more importantly for you to feel confident in it .

Yes, I'm afraid I can’t find too much comfort in abject failure either.

Richo resorting to turning the officials into scapegoats, doesn’t fill me with too much confidence.

It can be chalked up as yet another excuse for poor performances and troubled coaching. And of course, teams in front of us have more penalties some against them. So his argument is suspect to say the least. I am at a bit of a loss to explain why he thought it was a good idea.

If he’s genuinely expecting the NRL officials to change anything because of his statements, i think he’s made an error.

I think he’s put it out there to try to pacify some of us in relation to string of losses and lack of any marked, significant and sustained enterprise our team is displaying.

That observation will upset the optimistic and reality-challenged amongst us. I will be labelled anti-Richo which I’m not. My position is that he does good and bad things like anyone else. Probably more good, but the results still elude us. He’s said himself this is where the rubber hits the road, this is what competing in the nrl is all about. Everything else is second.

It’s a positive in the coming weeks that our wingers and centres will have to be performing well consistently. Taylan adds value in areas our depth players don’t and covers both centre and wing. Couple of dud games and they’ll know Taylan is coming for their spot.

Because it means it’s discussed in places that normally it’s dismissed. Even if it’s only discussed for a second , and they’re like “whatever tigers ! As if “ it’s now a thing! So now the refs have to actively be aware of this now especially if they done Richo or Benji , if the howlers continue at the rate they have these last 12-24 months then it becomes a huge thing .
At the very least it plants a seed in thier mind . When it’s us screaming at them there’s zero value in it , as it’s just white noise .
It’s hardly scape goating and deflecting blame .
Last week the game changed in its head when those penalties were given . A team like the panthers can simply grind you into the ground with the slightest leg up , especially when they’re mentally switched on in defence.
The 2 sin bins against the cowboys gave them a 30 point head start , which Sutton has not reinforced those penalties in any games since then or prior, even giving away 3 straight penalties for no sin bin .
I have zero issue with foul play , poor discipline , punishing bad/ ineffective defence . But howlers that actively influence a game one way or another is just bullshit .

Richo literally gave us a time line 3 to 4 weeks training then back through cup, if hes playing well enough by then he's a shot at FG. But yes agree 5 weeks minimum before we see him back in 1st, unless there's a catastrophic injury toll between now and then in the outside backs.
