Taylor ready for next challenge

After fitting in seamlessly at Wests Tigers over the past few weeks, new recruit Elijah Taylor says he's ready for another challenge this week against the Sydney Roosters.

Taylor spoke on Tuesday as the entire NRL squad spent time at The Children's Hospital in Westmead, reflecting on the opportunity to gain some perspective by visiting children in need, as well as the task ahead for his team this Sunday against the struggling Roosters.

"I feel like I'm slowly getting in the groove of how we play footy here," Taylor said.

"Defensively, we've got a lot still to work on as a team, but I felt that over the last two weeks and especially on Friday, we've made some massive steps forward as a team.

"It's always going to be something that we need to continue to work on. We attack pretty well, but defensively, we just leak too many points, so if we're going to do anything in the competition, we've got to fix our defence.

"The Roosters have got a big pack, so it starts in the forwards this week," he said.

"It's up to us as a Wests Tigers pack to win the ruck battle and slow that speed.

"If we do that, we're a real chance."

A father himself, Taylor said being at The Children's Hospital at Westmead was a worthwhile experience this morning, and pleasing to see the entire squad present on the day.

"We tend to take things for granted a lot and this is a massive wake-up call," he said.

"As a Club, we're going to try and help putting a smile on the kids' faces. It's a great iniatitve and all the boys are really keen to getting involved with the kids here today."

Something I really like about ET is his downright honesty. It's obvious to call out our defence but he doesn't water down our deficiencies in any way. Hope he is providing a reality check for the rest of the boys.

He did the same thing in his post match interview with Ch 9 on Friday night. Basically said we were lucky to get away with the win & just need to be better.

Listen up Tigers.

He is a old fashion Pro, no ego and doesn't talk in cliques, just can not believe he could not crack a role at the penny paffers

He has already made a big difference to the side in a few weeks, we keep him long term he can show the way to the pointy end of the ladder for this club.

What a breathe of fresh air that was. So different to the copy and paste interviews we've put up with for the last decade

By the sounds of things and just watching him play, he's the ultimate pro. Been here less than a month and sounds like a leader. No ego, no bs. Refreshing to read.

Spot on Mate

This weeks line up is a testament of how good we can be and things to come

Great interview, very honest and actually worth reading because you actually believe what he's saying. Sounds like a great leader too, best buy in a long time.

Just another interview imo. He's been great, but i feel some are putting him on too high of a pedestal. Maybe due to the positiveness of a couple of wins, but still. Be interesting what the views are after a couple of losses.

Yeah ET and JAC both. I still think ET will be a positive long term (if we can keep him) even if he reverts to just being a defensive workhorse.

His attitude will rub off on players and this can only be a positive , I agree with GRN regarding what will happen if we loose a few on the trot but I still like what I see of him and hope we can grab 3 in a row this week as I think we are a big chance , it can be done
