Taylor said something that hurts

"We have to train tougher"

"We have to be harder on ourselves"

Can you imagine they clubs like Manly, Bulldogs, Storm, Broncos not training hard enough? Taking short cuts? They build a culture based on everyone buying in and excellent standards.

Ever since Sheens days it seems like its pretty laid back out at Concord. Our culture seems to be one of a soft under belly. We crumble under pressure. We start every year fit and firing and then once th grind kicks in we are dead in the water.

For some reason this is a club where even if you lose every season no one seems to get dropped, there is no competition for spots.

Look I though there was plenty of effort out there today, however there are guys that need a rocket put under them for some of the things they did.

Taylor might have lost the players by bagging them publicly however I think he is 100% right to do so. I just hope he backs it up a bit in the selection room.

People can say there is no depth we should not changes? However what is the difference, we are losing anyway.

The sooner Talyor is gone the better ..what this club needs is a Toovey the strict disciplinarian, the players have absolutely no discipline .

They look like they want to get him sacked some of the things they do on the field.

The young halves look like they have been reading their own hype and are realising quickly the NRL is a tough game.

I actually felt sorry for Taylor today, we beat ourselves because he took some brain dead options.

However he made his own bed with a few selection howlers.

* Milone the neville nobody gaining a start and dropping the crucial last play
* Moses finally sacked from kicking suties but cost us this game arguably

End of the day whether its the players fault or Taylor if they are not responding to him there will only be one outcome. He looked like a man under pressure tonight in the press conference.

This is a culture issue that's been affecting this club long before JT. But yes, he should be changing this, he's had long enough. Just sounds like a cop out to me.

Thats the thing I agree with him! However if were not training hard enough and are not hard enough on ourselves sadly it is on his watch. Now you could also argues it doesn't give much hope to the next coach with this group of players.

End of the day its tough as a fan when your coach comes out and says we need to train harder. You might expect bludging players from your local park team copping a spray from your coach for not training hard after a long days work. However not in a well paid, fully professional NRL team.

I was sad to here that. Maybe I'm taking it our of context but it made me angry.

Taylor didn't drop the balls or give away the penalties or miss the tackles.

The coach can only do so much but the players on the field have to take responsibility.

You can make every excuse in the book, but there comes a time when you are either STAND UP QUALITY or you are not.

ATM the tigers players are not.

They really need to have a very hard look at them selves.

I don't care what the formula is but we need to start winning

I'm sick of pre season hype and ending up with same result in October
I really look forward to footy but get massive headaches with us losing game after game

Why would the players care? They underperform run near the bottom of the ladder, the coach gets sacked and they get a new contract. New coach comes in, has the same cattle to work with. Gets the same results, gets sacked and the players stay on. The only coach that has made a big decision and tried to move on one of the mainstays, was forced into a backflip with the player telling the media that the coach apologised. I seriously wonder who runs this club.

The problem is the last time JT tried to make a change to the culture by getting rid of Robbie he lost. SO why would the players listen to him now as they know they will be here longer then him and can blame the coach

He can say that but wont drop anyone… Few of the players need a reality check and dropping them down a Grade won't hurt. Seems like a cop out from Taylor.

Ok but he can make a statement at the selection table I am assuming?

Eddie at the end of the day we will never know , but it was mentioned during the coverage that Moses isn't kicking because of his groin

The truth hurts.
At the end of the day its attitude, the Knights came out after half time and smashed us in D, off their line and in our faces in numbers…our response when our turn to defend?
Wait for them.

JTs days are surely numbered, I understand why coaches are reluctant to make too many unforced changes, you never know whats around the corner with injuries, suspensions etc....however it seems to be something thats been an issue with this club long before JT arrived...I can recall sheens doing the same thing, or not doing it (making changes)
We seem to be just making up the numbers constantly....enduring rookie coaches for the past 4 years isnt the way, we need:
1/ A seasoned professional no BS coach. Only problem is these are rare and they usually have quite a choice of clubs to go to...so why come to the basket case thats us?
2/ We need to be able to recruit with the best of them, and Origin quality back rower or two and a center and and or winger...and a few more to boot ....then we might begin to change the soft culture that is WTs.

Rankin always looked a better goal kicker. Has kicked in the NRL before. Plus has less responsibility out on the wing. Strikes the ball cleanly.

Why does it take 6 games with Moses kicking under 50% for a change?

And your suggesting the change was forced because of injury?

Makes it more dumfounding if true.

.

Agree,

Have we ever done this as a club?

Came out and just gone up a few gear and started bashing a team?

Its all attitude.

They wanted to win 5-10% more then us sadly.

We are playing like losing is our culture.

Our coach is a halfback yet our halves don't play like halfbacks.

Kidwell should be out the door tomorrow, our fowards year in year out can't play 80mins to save their lives.

Then why doesn't Taylor drop the players who are not "stand up quality"? He doesn't does he and therein lies very big problem that has a lot to with the continuing demise of the club.

As a team we lack aggression. We need players that are brutal when the oposition has the ball. Sadly we have none. :frowning:

I think there is a difference between depth, suitable injury replacement and 'gees he looked good in NYC, reggies, insert other grade here.' We drop one of our so called FG players, and whilst we've done some good recruiting, I don't think there is sufficient depth for players to be too concerned. The 'depth' in the top 25 i don't think is deep enough. Time and time again we are shown that the players thrust into FG just arnt up to scratch.

Too long didn't read? Dropping players will result in more losses, with us hoping; thus assuming; that the hooked player/s pick up their act, which I don't think will happen.

I agree with pretty much all of this. I was ashamed of the difference in attitude between the Knights players and ours. If our players weren't as interested in a win as the Knights players then why should I give a stuff?? And Ink I would just observe that we had the option of Nathan Brown as our coach but chose to overlook him. He may well go on to do nothing much this year, but he certainly had a no frills, injury depleted outfit ready to completely out enthuse us today.
