Another mention in this mornings Telecrap. From Rothfield about WTs about to lose one of their most outstanding young players to Penrith, if it's Martin , he's only about a week behind in his news

He caught up to our Forum.

It might also be Matt Lodge? Started his career there, isn't getting a good go here at Tigers, maybe a return to the foot of the mountains is on the cards and yes I understand he is under contract.

Kyle Lovett and Brenden Santi might also be a chance if this rumour is true.

There is no chance of Lovett or Santi going. It's bargain time in the Wests Tigers cellar and the only players which other clubs will take from us the most promising ones. These clubs will bleed us dry in no time. For goodness sake a respectful explanation to supporters about the disgraceful state of affairs is needed from Wests Tigers Management. We won't get any reasonable explanation however because we are treated and considered as less than nobodies.

Don't worry we have Nathone Milone

Pathetic!!!

:deadhorse:
How is he aloud to come off contract anyway???
Poor recruitment/retention to allow this to happen, hope we don't get a season ending injury to one of the starting halves…. :bash
Just when we were starting to get some decent backup, gone....
Starting to hate penriff, oh yes we have the best juniors in the world, but we will still pinch the better ones from other clubs.
This I think has a lot to do with that hack kimmorley, how would anyone want to stay at the club after listening to this idiot!!!
Bring back payten......

Yep amateur hour again.

Didn't Austin leave because he couldnt get a crack in halves at Penrith?

If he wants to crack first grade quickly, I would have guessed his best chance is at Tigers based on our lack of depth.

In saying that though I would imagine they are developing him to replace Soward, he is 31 this year and contract ends at end of 2017 so it will fit in well with their future planning.

Like Blake, Martin did not see any future as a five eighth with Wests Tigers. Pretty sad state of affairs for our club.

Panthers sign Junior Kiwis playmaker

Penrith have announced the signing of young Kiwi playmaker Te Maire Martin on a three-year deal. Penrith Panthers have announced the signing of young Kiwi playmaker Te Maire Martin on a three-year deal. Martin, 19, will join the Panthers in 2016 after playing the last two seasons with the Wests Tigers NYC side.

“It feels great to have secured my future and I am already looking forward to training with my new teammates,” Martin said. “My big dream is to play in the NRL and I know having the opportunity to learn from Jamie Soward and Peter Wallace will really help me get there.”

What about Cleary's son he is a 5/8th, I suppose martin might play half??????
penrifffff also signed that mountain from the cowboys kikau, where were we????? :deadhorse:

12-24 months ago Brooks and Moses were getting the same wraps this kid is getting now.

So the club made the decision that these two would be our long term future, which means Martin isn't a first choice starter. That's just the reality of it.

Having the youngest halves pairing in the NRL leading around the most inexperienced side in the NRL means that there will be a lot of hard days at the office. But they have both shown glimpses that with experience and a decent side around them they will win us more games than we will lose in the future. Most people with a clue tend to agree at this stage.

As for replacing Moses with Martin? Replacing an inexperienced 80 kg 5/8 who was a junior super star, with another inexperienced 80kg 5/8 who is a junior superstar, does not solve any of our current problems.

Big loss…
Will be a superstar first grader for years to come.
Damn shame.

Sad thing is he said he was looking forward to the opportunity to learning from Soward and Wallace.
Says a lot for Kimmorley and Taylor. Aiding with the development of Brooke's, Moses and Martin was the only thing I thought the signing Taylor and Kimmorley would bring to the club. Except 2 have stagnated and 1has left.
Well done Tigers.

Penrith Panthers are pleased to announce the signing of young Kiwi playmaker Te Maire Martin on a three-year deal.

A breakout season in 2014 saw Martin selected in the NYC Team of the Year and picked for the Junior Kiwis. He again played for the Junior Kiwis this year, alongside current Panthers Sione Katoa and James Fisher-Harris, and fellow Penrith recruit Zach Dockar-Clay.

Panthers Executive General Manager rugby league Phil Gould AM said he was delighted to have secured Martin’s services.

“Te Maire is one of the outstanding young talents coming through the NYC system,” he said.

“We believe he’s a player of great potential, a long-term NRL player and we’re excited to have him here at the Panthers.”

*Sigh*

it's a sad sad sad day. I'm assuming he is also looking forward to playing with ZDC…

WHY DO WE ALWAYS LET GOOD YOUNG PLAYERS GO AND KILL IT WITH OTHER CLUBS.
TIGERS MUST BE THE LAUGHING STOCK WITH OTHER CLUBS WE BREED EM THEN LOSE EM..
SAME OLD STORY EVERY YEAR ….

Good Luck to the Kid… Its just part of the tough decisions a football club has to make when they have 3 years of success at the junior rep level.

We cant keep them all, but surely there should be better benefits to those clubs which develop juniors?

Sad but true…..

Good Luck to Martin...

The club has no idea at the moment. Being run so poorly to let a talented player in a position where we have no depth and players massively struggling go. I can't see how he fits in at Penrith but at least they can identify a talented player.
