My step son is in yr 8....he copped a detention today for an hour tomorrow, but they sent home a note fpr me or his mum to sign if we agree with the detention, which they now call a "reflection session"
If we sign he gets detention, if we dont he leaves as usual.
We werent there when the reason for the detention occurred but the school system is now leaving it for us to judge as to wether hes "punished" or not (one hour big whoop)
Is this standard these days?
Are schools scared to 'punish' kids?
Imo this promotes the attitude of aome yung people these days not wanting to accept responsibilty for anything
Remembrance ceremony this morning, all kids sitting on the ground outside, my stepson had his arms on his knees and his head on his arms ie not paying attention 100%....head master said disrespect, I agree and talked to him about it this arvo, apparently a few others copped the same, fair enough imo.
I will sign the note.
Maybe its good schools are sending this back home, but i can imagine some parents wouldnt give two craps
