TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT: Foundation Cup

I don't get the people that are blowing up over the side we have gone with. Did they really think that because we struggled last season the answer is to drop our whole team from 2012 to NSW Cup and start round 1 with 6 or 10 rookies from NYC in our side? Madness.
IMO you start the season with a fairly established and experienced side and gradually filter in the rookies either due to form lapses by the seasoned blokes or injuries, not just throw them all in the deep end to begin with, regardless of talent. We saw what happened to Groat when he was used as a sacrificial lamb. The young guns will get their chance soon enough.

Dunno what people expect Potter to do, hes a bargain basement coach that inherited a squad….do you want him to pick different players outta his ass?
Just cause hes a new coach doesnt mean players that arent ready will now be ready
God theres some impatience

True..there is impatience, but you can understand that. My impatience was with people like Moltzen, Ayshford , Utai ( not much ) and Blair. But , yes, he has to work with the players who were 1st grade last year, ( until they dont perform ..and then drop them ???? )

Jesus mate….Utai was our best back and in our top 3 players last season. Bit hard being impatient with him IMO

True, he performed over the top last year and I am not impatient with him , as such. I tend to think he is holding a spot for someone …someone young who can do what he does better and faster..I just hope there is someone.

Sheens played miller at half for three rounds I think last season, then moved him back to NYC to develop for another season.

I'd never advocate change for its own sake, just reading the forum it sounds like many of you were hungry for change and had criticized sheens for picking the same team all the time.

That is fair enough but he tried his guts out every single game and thats all I'm looking for in a player for us…we have got enough showboaters and flat-track bullies in our side that look a million bucks when we are flogging a team but go missing bigtime when we are up against it. Give me a dependable player anyday, change Utai with another rocks and diamonds player and we don't have many consistent, steady grinders left. Those sort of blokes are the cornerstone of your team, Melbourne won the premiership basically with a team of plodders except Slater, Cronk and the maggot Smith.
And he is the best metre-eater that we have got, gets us rolling from our own end more often than not. We have got to get away from the flashy mindset that won us the 2005 premiership, times have changed and the ground game is where it is won and lost....and Matty Utai is closer to the ground than anyone

Sorry Paris not referring to your post but 1974Semifinals one. As much as I didn't like him, El Masri showed that you didn't just need speed to be a good winger, a bit of footy nous, positional play and determination go a helluva long way.

what is it with you people. I said I am not impatient with him ( Utai ). And I agree he did play well last year.. and as long he plays well he will be in the top team or thereabouts..

BUT…considering his age and the young players we have , if they perform well enough in the lower grades and he falters ,,he is OUT ..sorry boys

i didn't catch anything about the parra game aside from the fact we put 40 on them.

but who is kicking goals for us this season ?

B.Marshall

I think Moltzen took the one conversion when Benji was off?
