Team style: Wakeham or Brooks

AD played first receiver pretty much today played great Brooks played basically as a 6

Wakeham is the Jacob Little of half backs IMO...too good for state cup, but not quite good enough for a key position in the NRL.

I acknowledge this.

But, he has a very nice kicking game, can pass and he can goal kick. All things we need.

He can be haphazard when asked to lead a team...his greatest flaw.

But...if you play him and say "kick, link, kick, link" and do not allow him to call his own number, he can give you a controlled game, long kick, link well and allow your 1, 6 and 9 to run the show. I.e. more ball for your 1, 6 and 9.

VS

Brooks...a much better defender, but someone who will get a lot of ball and plays called for him. I.e. less ball for your 1, 6 and 9.

Proven at this point to not be able to control a set.

A much better runner than Wakeham.

This comes down to style. Do you want a 7 who just gets you through the fundamentals (like many teams do) and offers you 80% GK.

Or do you keep backing the Luke Brooks horse despite his 12 wins, 3 placings from 200 starts record and hope blinkers and a nose band will work. You just hope that, despite your nag being 9 yo and having never won a city class race...something will click. A miracle. That nose band comes on and he jumps up to group class (horse racing fans will get the analogy)...

But we need to decide what style we want as the 7 is the absolute main bloke who affects the pace / plays. It is the biggest decision Sheens will /won't make.

it is one game mate Brooks wasn't Robinson Caruso out there today plenty of dropped balls and non contested kicks out there by a stack of players
maybe wait forn5 or 6 rounds before wanting to bring in Wakeham who didn't cut it against nz second string side in the trial

You didn't watch today of you think his support play is non existent. His support play today was the best it has ever been. He was constantly supporting through the middle much more than he ever has.

For FS watch the games closely before commenting.
 
We ran three crash plays today for Alex Twal...

Think about that. A bloke who has never...never...scored a try.

Three times we called his number. Once when we had an overlap to the left.

We need some footy IQ...Api, when fit, should help there.

It was the same in pre season...

It is like a running joke in the club that someone is going to send Alex over...

So they run plays for him.

The fact is he has never scored for a reason. I like him, but he simply does not bend the line. Any forward worth their salt who has not once gotten over after 100 games 'is' the joke, sadly.

Mate it's too far gone come round 6. And secondly Brooks has never been Robinson Carusso and never will be. Need to make changes sooner rather than later.

Mate, I felt guilty for expecting it - unfortunately you don't sound negative, just honest.
 
Wakeham is Jock Madden 2.0, everybody wants him to replace Brooks until he does. Brooks may not be one of the top halves but he's the best we have at the moment. If he doesn't produce in the next 6-8 weeks I suspect he won't be with us next year.
