TEAM LIST Team vs Eels [Round 22]

Team List
So if he has to win games he picks Sione in second row, starts pole again, turfs Bunty , drips Andrews and Roberts and Heywood and Lanyon and brings back the absolute season destroying hope, toa , Murray, Mason and douhei ??? WTF ??? Every one of those played a role in the form slump and Sione is a prop
In the interview Benji made a comment about the "senior guys" getting us out of the rut we are in. So maybe he is putting it on them to turn this around...the only younger guy in that side is Makasini.

I'm not sure what's worse: stacking the 1st grade team with KOE quality players or depleting the KOE team in the run to the finals. HBG won't be happy. Maybe that's a good thing.

It should always be on the senior guys.

As the great Gus says- you got us into this mess, you get us out of it.

Can't keep looking at younger guys to be the answer when they haven't played a single game of footy.

Youngsters should "ideally" be blooded in when they are ready, not when the team needs them. If you need someone with 0 games of experience to get you out of trouble, you've alreday lost the war.

Anyway, we've seen this script before. They will play with emotions for a week or two, go through a loss and start planning Mad Monday.

Bench is trash, backline is trash. Halfback is in it for himself. The ones jumping on the 3 dollars yesterday might be having second thoughts.
If you jumping on any dollars at this point you got a screw loose. Simply calmly place as much money as you can get your hands on, on the Eels at the -7.5 and then take the mrs out for a mimosa and a fiddle.

And hopefully that’s more the reason why he dropped him straight back in as halfback. You wanted to play at halfback - go on, the teams attack better be singing though.

I'm just going to wait to hear from Benji in this week's pre-game presser & how the club explains the current situation to members before I form a robust opinion.

I cannot believe that a legend of the club like Benji would sabotage the club with inept decision making & leadership after talking such a big game. It's actually beyond comprehensible.
This week's reserves are better than the bench.
Pathetic selections Benji.
Gave you plenty of rope the last month or two with your selections, but you have decided to hang yourself.
Lost faith in your coaching and selections. You need HELP not Yes Men.

I sat back and watched both press conferences a couple of times before jumping on here because I wanted to see if anything fundamentally changed.

For me, it did. Not because I've changed my opinion of what happened. I haven't; I still think AD got it wrong. But if we're asking players to take responsibility for their actions, then we also have to acknowledge when they do exactly that. AD apologised to the fans. He apologised to his teammates. He apologised to Javon Andrews. Most importantly, he admitted he should have handled the situation differently.

You don't have to forgive him (I'm not) and you don't even have to believe him. But you can't ask for accountability and then ignore.

The other thing that struck me was Benji. He had every opportunity to turn today's press conference into an "I was right" moment. He didn't. Even the questions around vaping were handled well. Benji flatly rejected the allegation, while also acknowledging the obvious reality that no coach can know what every player is doing every hour of every day. That wasn't defensive; it was honest.

To me, that's exactly what I expected. When I pulled the Deep Dive on this together the conclusion was that this would become a battle for to win the narrative. I don't think that's changed.

What has changed is who's controlling it. Today, the narrative wasn't about conflict. It wasn't about leaks. It wasn't about player managers. It wasn't about ego.

It was about accountability, resolution and getting back to work. That's a healthier place for our club to be and the only way we can take steps to dig ourselves out of the rut.

There has been plenty of criticism about AD being picked at halfback. It is understandable and a valid stance to take. While I understand the position many supporters and pundits have taken, I don't think Benji had much choice. Once Benji said the matter had been resolved, and AD accepted responsibility, if AD was in the best 17 he had to be selected.

Not because AD won, and certainly not because Benji lost (he had the opportunity to bury AD); but, because standards only mean something if they're applied consistently. You can't tell the playing group and fans that the matter is over while continuing to select the team as though it isn't.

So where does that leave us? Exactly where we should have been a week ago. Talking about how we beat Parramatta. Talking about how to turn the season around (if we can).

On Sunday afternoon AD will be wearing our colours. Benji has backed him. His teammates have welcomed him back. As supporters, we need to follow suit. The is no need to forgive AD for what he has done; he hasn't earnt that. But, the team deserves out support, Api, in particular, deserves our support, and even though he isn't forgiven AD needs our support if we are going to be any chance of beating Parra on Sunday arvo

I thought the Journos on NRL 360 last night were pathetic
Coming off the last few days where they were the main source of who said what to who .They were relishing the dire straights the tigers were in however
When all seemed patched up they sounded very bitter and disappointed that things got back together .Probably also because they were reporting 24 hrs earlier that Douehi has played his last game and the tigers disaster was terminal .They delight in sensational and bad news .
My opinion is im happy things are back together but separate to the Douehi incident the team has not been putting in 100% effort for a few weeks now and responsibility for that rests with Benji and as such I'm not sure he's a good coach and has not improved with time .
Our forward pack must not be out muscelled by Parra .
Effort Effort guys !
