TEAM LIST Team vs Storm [Round 10]

Team List
I would have had Luke Lualilli at FB & Skelton on the left wing...

But Benji obviously got something with Skelton at present. Blokes not getting a run.

Mason in attack is quick & deceptive. Goal line defence will be the issue.

His hands aren't terrible. Let's hope the white headgear makes him play like Jye Gray
His hands ARE terrible at fullback. He's never taken a high kick. He either drops it or lets in bounce

Unfortunately many of us a focussing on the wrong things - Melbourne and Mason.

Neither of those will win or lose the game for us. We were beaten by Cronulla because we went away from our system under pressure caused by errors. The whole next man up thing is not about replacing skill - it is about bringing the skills we have to the system and making the system work.

Flush last week - we went away from the system and paid the price.

We work hard on what we can control - our defensive system and how we want to attack the game. Mason has a job to do and he has the skills to do it - is he shaky under the high ball - sure so we need to protect him.

Last week gave us plenty to work on and we have plenty of time to do it. Instead of looking at the how we will fail - look at what Mason and Herbert bring to the side and how their skill sets fit in with our system. Mason has great acceleration - something Tito doesn't - so him sniffing around the second phase play smells like potential points to me. Herbert brings physicality in defence - he also has some attacking flair - he will do fine.

A simple game plan, within the system that has got us to 5 and 3, is workable and can result in a win despite us missing Api, AD and Sam F. We just have to want it!
Great post Jolls 💯
We need to complete the process. We’ve been doing a good job in this regard all season, that 2nd half was full of errors and then catchup football giving Sharks easy points. If we get back to how we’ve been playing this season we’ve got a good chance on Sunday!!

Coates back also for the first time this season, of course!
Thought he wasn't named in their 22 on Tuesday so he can't play, but then NRL will probably feel sorry for Bellyache and give them special dispensation to play him.

NRL will want Storm to break their record breaking losing streak and give them a leg up, after all it's only the Tigers.

Surely they'd want the Tigers to make the 8 to prove that the salary cap actually works

If Mason sniffs around May and Twal all game he will get a half chance or 2.

Mason under the high ball worries me but Melbourne don’t normally bomb & attack the middle (fullback) the strengths are on the wing.

More worried about Hope, he has a great work rate but gets tired with his ball distribution which slows everything down.

My view is if we go back to basics, minimal errors then we over power them in the forwards easily. The key will if Luai/Madden/Latu can create opportunities for us to take.

There is every chance that Hope will be in a rotation with Latu for that reason. If that is the case I would love to see us work a plan with a traditional half and one 5/8 each side in attack late in the half with the middles taking some of the 9 load to enable it. May be complicating things a little but could be a game changer. Intersting to see how Benji plays it.

Our performances with injury will hold us in good stead later and at worst pinpoint recruitment needs. We had no talented back up hooker, fullback, centres or edge back rowers and we copped injury or poor form to all these positions at once.

I cant see a win until Api and Bula return however, if we play tough footy Storm can buckle this year.
