TEAM LIST Team Vs Titans [Round 15]

Team List
We need big games from Terrell May, Pole, Sione Fainu & Bunty Afoa (maybe Mav & Seyfarth in part).

2-3 of these guys need to get 150+ metres & own the middle of the field.

Every time we have lost 'badly' we have lost the middle.

A lot of this is on the play of #9.

I hope Latu shifts to 7 as he's wasted as a 9. Hope, Murray & Lanyon- whatever the combination might be- need to orchestrate quick decisions from dummy half & have the first runner hitting the line with momentum.

The team has to go back to winning physically. For whatever reason, they have moved away from that once injuries hit.

If Lanyon gets fast ball away we should be starting him at hooker , simple we can’t have slow play the ball and also if he is a bit crafty close to the line let’s start him , give Latu the 7 next to Luai , this could work , all the hooker has to do is get fast ball away and if we hold on to it those 6 agains go to us , keep the ball and Lanyon and Latu won’t burn out in defence , Forward need to keep calling for the pill and Lanyon just needs to scoop it up and get nice ball away , hel be fine and he is a hooker , time for the coach to play players in position , and stop the Tim sheens crap

Based on the training pics yesterday I think he plays. No strapping, ball in hand. In the background of other shots as well. Worst case they probably needle him.

I like it. Call it Benji ball or whatever, we won those earlier games with speed, elusiveness, and offloads. Luai, Latu, and Lanyon could bring that back. I don't know much about Lanyon, but he could hardly make things worse than last week.

If you're relying on Bunty and Seyfarth to put in to win you've already lost.

The art of the 9 isn't quick ball. This is a simplistic take on it. If this was the case Hope would be a great 9; but he isn't. Quick ball doesn't necessarily get our forwards onto the ball at the Ad line or provide time and space for our halves.

The art of the 9 is to keep the A and B defender and the markers intersested in him enough to relieve pressure off the receiver. This is achieved through deception, precise footwork, and perfect timing at the ruck.

A hooker that scoops and throws; a monkey can be trained to do that. It makes it too easy for the defence. If the markers know the 9 will only pass, there is immediate pressure on the receiver. To create time and space, a 9 has to: look at the 'A' defender/marker as they pick up the ball to freeze one defender in their tracks; and take a decisive action. A step, a look or a shoulder turn to shift the defensive line. It forces the defenders to turn their shoulders, for a split second, which creates space. Where possible they should also use deceptive body language; head fakes, changing eyes or hiding the pass to provide that extra half a second.

If Lanyon, Hope, or any makeshift 9, simply throws a fast ball without engaging the markers, the defence will win the collision. Speed in an around the ruck does not come from how fast the ball gets away; it is created by manipulating the defenders so the receiver plays a hesitant defensive line.

Hope is capable at KoE as he can deliver good ball, but he lacks the art required to make it as a 9 in the NRL (at this stage). Latu probably has the ability to get insde the mind of defenders from his experience as a half - not sure how much development he has had as a 9 though to pick up on the subtle elements of the position.

Our game is reliant on the 9 setting the conditions for the rest of our attack.

That was brutal on the weekend . Ts taken me most of the week to even acknowledge nrl . Really killed my expectations . Still we are 6 and 6 potentially 7/6 come Sunday . I think with how fast we started we all thought top 4 / winning the comp type hoping . But the reality is this is a long slow build and a 50/50 team is exactly what most of us were hoping for come the start of the season . We all dared to dream ! But got ahead of ourselves hoping for the fairytale. The reality … there’s still a lot of deadwood in this team , and the roster is still evolving . Especially defensively

I have watched Joesse come through Flegg last year and KOE this year, he can play and so far in KOE he has shown to be up to it physically. I think he could be worth a try.I prefer to see Latu at half anyway. Madden should have been dropped.
Latu at 7 sounds great---run and pass etc. But WT need more than that from an NRL 7---very young to have management and kicking skills on top of natural ability.
Does he have a kicking game?
No one ever mentions his kicks or game management. Big mystery to me and most others I suspect, hence no comments. And one game at halfback won't show much. Needs more gametime at half to hone those skills. [KOE]
Mismanaged so far due to his injuries and now WT circumstances.
But young enough to take it on board as experience for the future.
