Teddy plans to end career at WT

This is very much a friend of a friend thing however apparently Teddy has been telling his mates that he plans to (exact words) 'do a Lebron' i.e go to a team where you're guaranteed a comp, then come back to your hometown club and win one with them.

Hmmm that's interesting. That could well and truly backfire, there is no guarantee the Roosters will win a comp in the next 4 years. Despite their team being stacked with top players, they often fall down at the last hurdle. Apart from possibly the Storm, I don't think any team is guaranteed a premiership.

Spud you are correct how many gun sides packed with superstar fail to win a premiership.
No team is guaranteed anything.

He has handled himself extremely poorly not once but twice when it was contract time. He comes across as a spoilt brat.

I hope the roosters have a couple of years like last year while he is there. They have been pretty consistent in recent years, but how many times have they been premiers?

Twice in like 20 years. Only 1 better than us.

Without seeing the interview it sounds like something that arrogant Cocknocker Braith Anasta would say… The NRL is not the English Premier League, the Roosters are not Manchester United and James Tedesco is not Wayne Rooney... Roosters have only won one more premiership than the Tigers since 2000, they aren't travelling that much better than we are...

I think that he is delusional, he said just after he signed with the scum that the Tigers fans would still like him.
Now he's thinking that he might have made the wrong decision, as something good is starting to happen here under Ivan.
Hope you get your feathers plucked over there.

He's full of it. Even if he honestly believes it now, once he gets into the Roosters environment, he'll forget we exist. Sort of like when a guy meets a girl and forgets all about his mates. And if wins one or two premierships, forget it. Remember Addo-Carr said he was going to come back to when his contract expired with the Storm. Anyone still believe that?

Slightly different circumstances with JAC, by all reports he wanted to stay and even after he signed with the storm tried to get out of the contract. Lifelong tigers fan, if the opportunity arises I reckon he'll come back one day.

Agree re Teddy with the roosters though.

Didn't JAC just re-sign for 4 years?

He sure did till 2021 then said who are the Tigers… these players quickly move on... don't hold yr breath abut Teddy coming back...

Having only read the quote in an article and not seen it live, I was under the impression he was open to returning, not that he wants to. Spoke about how the club looked after him, so he obviously still has some affection for the place.
I'm not going to begrudge a professional athlete moving to another team. Every fan espouses loyalty; it's not dead but it's hardly a priority for everyone. People can't forget that Thurston's status in the rugby league pantheon was always under question until he won a premiership. Completely irrespective of his state and international resume, there was always that same line trotted out against him til they finally got one.
Teddy has openly discussed his desire to be the best fullback in the game, and I can understand he'd get the best chance at that recognition in a performing, successful team.
We're on our way, and yes, it sucks that he's leaving, but success is a perfectly reasonable motivator, as romantic as loyalty may seem.

He is the best fullback in the game and he still could have done that here.

Best fullback in the game? nope.

I hope Teddy reads this thread and realises how much he burnt bridges with WT fans… we don't want you back you traitor

Upon reading the earlier "Lebron" post, I really hope we meet the chooks in a decider to deny his dream and see him watching WT parade the shield.

Twice in 42 years, and 4 in 72 years, 1945 was the previous prior to 1974 and 75, then 2002 and 2013.

well, that's just a bizarre thing to say

Why leave in the first place? Benji left for a variety of reasons, one was because he realised he had gone stale and stagnated here, you've chosen to leave right at the point where you're hitting your stride as a player.

How would Rooster supporters view this? you don't care about going there, it's only for the money? Seems kinda clear with a statement like that.

Also seems like there's some regret now in leaving, too late now I'm afraid, you've made a poor decision on your part in regards to a legacy you could have created for yourself, but you leaving has allowed us to fill in a lot of spots in the squad that needed it.

As was said earlier, the article i saw didn't say he wanted to come back, it said you never know what could happen. Nothing more than a fluff piece. As for whether it would ever occur or not, i'd hope by then we had well and truly moved on and found ourselves a more than capable replacement.

They have won 2 premierships since 2000, we have won 1\. Whilst they have definitely been more consistent over the years, it is not as though they are a club like a Man U, Real Madrid etc, where the games elite go while they are in their prime. Just think it is a bit of an arrogant thing to say… With good management, there is no reason the Tigers cant competitive with the Roosters in future...

**Thanks Teddy for the insensitive comments.

I look forward to giving you money for your leftovers.**
