Teddy plans to end career at WT

Benji was pushed out, Teddy chose to leave

I remember Benji saying he had lost the desire and passion for NRL and the Tigers and that he needed a new direction.

It was mutually agreed and mutually beneficial at the time.

I hope the contact is less than he is on @ Broncos.

Without seeing the interview it sounds like something that arrogant Cocknocker Braith Anasta would say… The NRL is not the English Premier League, the Roosters are not Manchester United and James Tedesco is not Wayne Rooney... Roosters have only won one more premiership than the Tigers since 2000, **they aren't travelling that much better than we are...**

You reckon?

In terms of premierships I guess they are right. Overall we all know Easts fans generally don't make plans for at least the first and second week of September while we're putting up team lists for round 1 the following year.

Having only read the quote in an article and not seen it live, I was under the impression he was open to returning, not that he wants to. Spoke about how the club looked after him, so he obviously still has some affection for the place.
I'm not going to begrudge a professional athlete moving to another team. Every fan espouses loyalty; it's not dead but it's hardly a priority for everyone. People can't forget that Thurston's status in the rugby league pantheon was always under question until he won a premiership. Completely irrespective of his state and international resume, there was always that same line trotted out against him til they finally got one.
Teddy has openly discussed his desire to be the best fullback in the game, and I can understand he'd get the best chance at that recognition in a performing, successful team.
We're on our way, and yes, it sucks that he's leaving, but success is a perfectly reasonable motivator, as romantic as loyalty may seem.

This x 10\. It's sport. The carry on around here is like he's married your daughter, had kids then left asking for child support.

Assuming he's not over the hill, I'd welcome him back.

Teddy might be a great footballer, but he got in the wrong line when they were giving out the IQ. Anyway in four years time who knows, Slater seems to be going okay so maybe we might be interested

Yes Teddy you made your decision now you have to live with it you could have been the greatest tiger ever but now you'll just be a latta sipping Roorter. In a strange way I think we are going to be a stronger and better club for the ungrateful ones that have left bring on 2018.

Upon reading the earlier "Lebron" post, I really hope we meet the chooks in a decider to deny his dream and see him watching WT parade the shield.

That would be the ultimate revenge

Some sanity at last.

Yes it is only footy, but that's what the purpose of the forum is. To discuss footy. Doesn't mean we don't acknowledge much worse things happening in the world at present, but the forum isn't designed for that.

With all the turmoil within the Club over the past few years I don't blame him for jumping ship esp for extra money in a sport where he has already suffered injuries with a possibly limited career. I am used to backing losing teams - Magies for 30 years.

Might have burnt bridges with fans ..there is a lot of water to flow under a bridge in 4 Years..Tedesco will only be 28 and who knows really what will happen but if he continues to develop I would hope Our coaching and Management would consider recruiting the best players they can…If that happens to be Tedesco the welcome home from me..

Best thing in the world would be Tigers become a premiership force and win one during Tedesco's contract, whilst the Roosters struggle.

Roosters are certainly doing better than us but nobody should forget that they have huge lows too, not just a relatively low # of premierships, but Roosters have failed to make the finals half of their last 10 campaigns (and 5 of the last 12 years actually), plus collecting the wooden spoon in 2009\. In the NRL era Roosters have made 6 GFs but only won 2, they've been Minor Premiers 4 times and only won 1 of those years, they've been knocked out in the Preliminary Final (match before the GF) 4 times. So in 19 NRL seasons Roosters have been at the GF or 1 game short on 10 occasions, but only won 2 premierships.

Roosters absolutely more successful than Tigers, but not particularly good at converting table position and continued team success into premierships. You can't go chasing premierships, the alternating list of winners proves that.

Teddy has moved on. I'm pleased that we've moved on also and have a replacement. Tui looks like he has the spark.

Yes, Teddy, when you've had you 12th knee reconstruction, the Roosters are focussing on the next fast kid they've bought, Nike's got a new poster boy and you can't make a rep side, then you'll ask about finishing your career at the Tigers.

Since 2000…
Wests Tigers = 3 finals series for 1 GF appearance, 0 Minor Premierships and 1 Premiership.
Sydney Roosters = 11 finals series for 6 GF appearances, 4 Minor Premierships and 2 Premierships.

...i think they are doing a lot better than us.

I'm agreeing? If you look at straight premierships they're not getting much ROI, but when you consider they feature far more frequently in September and won the Shield a few times then overall they're doing a lot better than we are.

My point is that success isn't necessarily measured in solely premiership wins…

Won't happen as he will either be a superstar by then and the Roosters will keep him or he will be busted by then. The comment about the possibility of coming back to the Tigers is a little disrespectful to his new employer as he hasn't even started with the Roosters and is contemplating a possible return to the Tigers. Me thinks like Woods he is just blowing hot air up our you know what as he tries to appease the Wests Tigers fans given he didn't want to stay.

Alot of it is perception. We know they have money, facilitiies, top notch coaching staff( and JT) and TPAs that appear to be the best in the business.
Very difficult for any one club these days to dominate premierships, but they are a club that in recent times field a team that at least gives them the best opportunity to do so.
Something we haven't been able to do for a long time for various reasons, and that is how we are percieved, and will remain that way until we get consistently better on and off the field.
