Tedesco 'excited' to get back on the field

Wests Tigers fullback James Tedesco has faced a long, hard battle to return from knee injury after his 2012 season ended less than half an hour into his NRL debut.
The Camden junior was given first nod at the number one jersey last season, but the level-headed youngster simply set a goal to return to the field and remain injury free in 2013.
His year-long hiatus from competitive football ends this Friday when he will line up at the back when Wests Tigers take on Penrith Panthers in the first trial of the season in Bathurst.
"I'm very anxious and pretty nervous to get out there," said Tedesco.
"It's almost been a year since I've been out on the field so I'm very excited and hopefully I'm back to full confidence and the knee pulls up sweet.
"I'm just going to ease my way back into it, get a bit of confidence back into myself and the knee."
Tedesco isn't getting too far ahead of himself when it comes to claiming the NRL fullback spot, but is focusing on putting together good quality performances.
"Hopefully I can play a few good games for the NSW Cup or 20s," said Tedesco.
"I'm not pushing, I just want to get through the season injury free - that's the goal for me.
"Hopefully I can get a call up to NRL later in the season."
Tedesco's long battle in rehab is now over, but that doesn't mean training has eased up.
Mick Potter's pre-season regime is fast developing a reputation for it's intensity and Tedesco is another player who feels the club is reaping the benefits.
"It's been tough," said Tedesco. "I started in rehab up until Christmas and that was very tough.
"Coming into full training with Mick Potter, it's very competitive.
"Everyone is competing against each other trying to impress the new coach so every one is trying to prove to him that they're up for it.
"It's been very tough and I think it's going to be for the best for the team."
The Western Suburbs junior was speaking from a schools appearance during the Wests Tigers Community Carnival, which has now visited over 50 schools in the Southern Highlands and western suburbs.
"We've been out to a few schools already and it's good to relay the message of anti-bullying and support the ARL in their community work," said Tedesco.
"It's great to get out to see the kids and it's always good fun."
