Tedesco injury

Fractured shoulder blade, 6-12?
Fullback James Tedesco injured his left shoulder in the ninth minute of the game, with scans today showing that he has a shoulder blade fracture.

Tedesco will seek specialist opinion on Monday and as a result at this stage the Club does not have a full prognosis of the injury, or how long the recovery time is.

Following the initial scans Tedesco has been made unavailable for selection for next weekend’s City v Country fixture with more details around exactly how long he will be off the field to be available next week.

Hopefully not to long.
I hope it is around the 2-3 week time slot.

I am relyin on Dr Internet. Websites suggest 3-4 or 6-8 depending on where broken and whether surgery is required

Generally a 6-8 week injury for normal people to get back to recovered - first 2 or 3 weeks in a sling. Given that even with all going well you wouldn't risk him for a while so we better get used to playing without him for a while. I would expect Round 16 v Storm which yes is June 26th so almost the full 2 months but we don't play before that for over 2 weeks (June 10th). The great thing is timing wise he is only missing 5 games and if he had been fully fit and playing Origin he would have missed 1 anyway and mayby 2 as players often don't back up well after Origin. So he misses max 3-4 games he would have played but over 2 months recovery time.

Be interesting to see how we fill the gap I would think Rankin will take over at FB but then it's a question of JAC, MCK (with Simona at centre) or Justin Hunt (who was awesome in his 1st game back from injury in NSW cup last week)

Dr happy will be able to give you all the full prognosis once he watches the shots of Ted on the sideline from Thursday's game….Tim Mannah had a similar injury and was out for a month....injured it again in his come back game last night...hopefully Teddy wont be rushed back...

Gutsy effort from him as it says the injury occurred in the 9th min of the game....hope staying out there for the first half didn't aggravate the injury...

The rep round next week and the Tigers first bye may mean that he doesn't miss too many games. But yes, a very brave effort there on Thursday night.

Poor Teddy. JT should've taken him off as soon as it happened.
We'll miss him. :frowning:

Of course he shouldve

No doubt it worsened because of this

he couldn't possibly have known it was a fracture. also, it wouldnt be JT's call, it would be the physio's call on the field. they check if there is tenderness at a particular spot, can easily be mistaken for a bruise due to a fall on tip of the shoulder.

if it was a displaced fracture, there is no way teddy would've played even a minute longer, way too much pain.

i reckon it will be 6 weeks minimum. 4 weeks immobilised arm, let the fracture heal (pretty much half the time of a foot/knee/hip injury) and then 2 weeks rehab.

i reckon he'll come back even stronger.
