Tedesco must play Origin: Moses

Wests Tigers players have sent a pretty clear message to New South Wales Blues selectors ahead of Monday night's squad announcement for Game Two of the Holden State of Origin series: pick James Tedesco.

The Tigers fullback didn't grab the headlines following his side's entertaining 30-14 win over the Rabbitohs on Friday night, but it didn’t stop him from putting in another virtuoso performance.

Tedesco ran for 155 metres and had four tackle breaks in what was one of his statistically quieter games for the season, but that didn't mean he wasn't effective.

Every time the Tigers No.1 touched the ball, the crowd collectively held their breath expecting him to do something brilliant in attack to add to his 10 tries and nine try assists in 2016.

It's that sense of attacking anticipation that many believe is required by a NSW team that only managed one try on their home ground in the series opener against Queensland.

Wests Tigers five-eighth Mitchell Moses was as blunt as can be in his post-match assessment of his teammate when asked if Tedesco should be in the Blues' team for Game Two at Suncorp Stadium on June 22.

"If they don't pick him, they're kidding themselves," a frank Moses said.

"They want points, you give him the ball and he'll put points on the board for you.

"He's got something like 10 or 11 tries and try assists as well. You hit him out the back and he'll just create things. NSW are looking for points; that's your man.

"If I was in the opposition team, I wouldn't want him coming at me, I'll tell you that much."

It was an opinion shared by Tigers centre Tim Simona who said Tedesco was doing everything possible to be picked.

"He's a great player and no doubt if he keeps playing like that then a blue jersey will come his way," Simona said.

"100 per cent [he should be in the team]. He's a freakish player. But at the end of the day, I'm not the coach. If he can keep this form up then he'll give Laurie Daley headaches.

"He's so hard to tackle and he's got good ball skills as well so I'm just glad he's in my team."

Its the truth, and no one has had the brains or guts to mention his name. Not even after the game when the idiots on 9 were scratching their heads about what the Blues can do to score more points.

That was a quite game for him and there are very few fullbacks in the comp that play at that level in any game all season.

I think he is the best fullback in the comp and one of the best players.

As much as I want him to I do also fear how he will come out of it
He is a gun player but I'm always worried when he gets knocked around and gets up ginger.

I think he might be a little too fraglile for SOO right now.

He's not in favour. If he was Daley wouldn't have stumbled over himself when put on the spot when asked if he was the best fullback in the game. He named Boyd because he had knows Boyd's a QLD'er and he knows he doesn't have to select him.

Do we know IF Teddy would have been picked at fullback for NSW in game 1 if he wasn't injured ??

If so, wouldn't it be possible for Daley to just come out and pick Teddy for game 2… Whilst it may seem harsh to Moylan... The fact is, Daley can just say that Teddy was my number 1 choice all along and now he's fit, he's in now... That way it Softens the blow for Moylan and media etc..And that's one way of picking Teddy as to me that should be fair game... Crazily, it makes Me think that maybe Teddy wasn't going to be picked anyway... If he wasn't then I can understand them sticking with incumbent as it is a big deal to blood another rookie in a big origin game 2, where its a must win. If Teddy was gonna be picked before injury then why can't they just slot him straight in... Daley can say, Moylan was just there because Teddy was injured and now my first choice is available...I think even with me being biased, Teddy is the best fullback for NSW right now.. Thoughts ?

I would pick Teddy at 1 and move Moylan to the bench and drop Dylan Walker. Moylan can play the utility role and will add spark against a tiring opposition later in the game.

As good as Moylan is he is not a shadow on Teddy at fullback.

The Queenslanders have us totally bluffed with the 'pick and stick' policy. It's a pretty easy thing to do when you have a champion team. But they have us believing its the only way to win.
Teddy wont get picked despite being the best.he's not the encumbent

Tedesco won't be picked because the NSW selection committee are daft, have been for years.

I'm not sure why the Queensland selectors haven't gone with Munster, he'd be a better option than Gagai or O'Neill…he would probably also make a better prop than Nate Myles these days.

Teddy might get a shot in game 3 after the blues get pumped up at Suncorp. Might be the best thing for nsw, forcing Daley to bring in the next generation.

For mine, I'd like to see Teddy at FB, Moylan & Maloney in the 1/2s & J. Bird on the bench in place of Walker. But it all means nothing if Daley persists with the tactics of 5 hit ups & a bomb.

There is no reason for Tedesco not to be picked. He is hands down the best fullback in the competition, even Moylan would know that.
I think there is more to it and possibly something to do with him not signing with Daley's good mate in Canberra.

indifferent either way, probably prefer him to play for us actually but happy for him if he gets selected too

Exactly what I was thinking

NSW will always be hopeless when Bozo is making the selections

As much as I want to see Teddy play for NSW along with Woods and Farah, I honestly think NSW is a lost cause

If NSW go down 2-0 , I reckon we will definitely see him play game 3 , just a gut feeling , nothing to lose , see how he copes
