Why does this all have to be played out in the media ? **_Why can't Mayer and co show some professionalism_** and keep all these going ons confidential.

The bulldogs announce signings after they are done. Mayer turns the whole thing into a circus by getting on Twiiter and asking what Tedesco is worth. He now leaks a story saying they have made a lucrative offer yet no amount is mentioned and no confirmation from the Tedesco camp.

Someone from the board needs to tell Mayer there is no guarentee Tedesco will resign and leaking stories to the media will do more harm than good.

I completely agree Fumbles … Whether we resign Teddy or not ... Mayer hasn't handled himself or represented the club very well at all.

Here is a few more that have lost a dog.

so maybe one of you two can expand on what you found poor about mayer's handling of it. he's come out and said "we're doing our best, hopefully we can sort it out soon" what more can you ask? he's not going to say "we WILL get tedesco" cause guess what, we might not no matter how much money we place or who our CEO is.

Wests Tigers have offered Tedesco a four year contract.

Someone at the WT's is in trouble for leaking this story …...... and is not involved in negotiations anymore with Tedesco

I wonder who ??

I'll take it as s*** from a nobody on a tigers forum.

Plenty of these comments on this thread.

I have heard that the Tigers offered Robbie a free Big Mac once per week if he signed and he hasn't received it for the past 3 weeks.

On top of that Woods was offered a free light beer at the end of each game and the club hasn't stocked the fridge.

Seriously - as if the club isn't paying the players. As if the club isn't offering fair contracts to the players. Some of the punters here should be writing for the DT.

Well Steve here's another question you could ask the club

We were told that Warren McDonnell wasn't involved in recruitment of the Top 25

Why until yesterday was he involved in the Tedesco negotiations ??

i agree with pretty much everything you said on the last page, happy. holding down the fort by yourself as it were.

But, the predicament that grant finds himself in is that he is NOT prepared to pay overs for any player however good he is. If the Chooks can afford exorbiant prices for teddy, i dont see any reason why we should continue in that bidding war which will hamstring us for numerous years and almost certainly lose us many players not just limited to nofo and koro, but potential brown, seve and lovett in a couple of years.

You're right that it's the tigers fault that our cap is a mess, we are STILL paying gibbs this year. This is the last if im not mistaken, and i wouldnt be surprised if we backloaded Ellis' contract too. Add in Lawrence and Blair who are being paid big overs.

mayer's trying his best to make sure stuff like that never happens again here though, and that includes paying teddy an APPROPRIATE amount. which will be very competitive unless other clubs are giving it everything to get him (or 3rd party deals)

Well Mayer was happy to pay 400k which I consider gross overs for an under 20's player who is yet to play an NRL game..yet he doesn't want to go anywhere near that figure for a proven 1st grader.
No one would be complaining if Mayer offered appropriate amounts to the appropriate players instead he gets his mates to put out spin in the paper on a daily basis. What for ?

Grant Mayer how about instead of the usual BS you feed to the papers of "working hard" "number one priority" you tell us what you have actually offered in the "lucrative" contract. Then we can all make up our minds as to how hard you are actually working.

Irvine you have shown on more than occasion you have no idea. Best give it a rest while you're behind because this dribble you're babbling is nonsense.

Seriously, thats grasping at straws… firstly recruitment is by definition, finding and hiring new talent. This is a contract re-negotiation, and most likely within McDonnells scope of works, he isnt searching for or trying to introduce anyone new to the squad. It would be foolish for a CEO to enter these talks alone considering the vast scope of works on his plate, so having assistance in the negotiations from someone more closely linked to this portion of the business is just plain professionalism.

It seems like I am following you around Happy, Im not out to get you, I promise. My mail hasnt been as specific as yours seems to be, then again, mine seems alot closer to the truth... at times I really doubted what I was hearing because of the circus, and still wouldnt hang off every word. The only thing i know is that there is enough crap flying around out there, no need for us to speculate off second or third hand info and feed the rumour mill any further.

I don't speculate on the 2nd or 3rd hand info BnW

As in the Fifita situation, when I did hear that Manly were chasing hard I said that

Didn't embellish the info in any way ,mate of Dads who played at Brisbane Wests who played with Fatty and is a mate of Fatty's mentioned to him that Manly wanted Fifita bad

Quite regularly I will ask others on the Forum (people I trust ) whether they have heard the same

Well if your mail is closer to the truth ,PM me what you know and I'll tell you if you are on the mark or not

A couple of things:-

1\. Who cares ?
2\. Who really knows why ?
3\. Why turn it into an episode of "Days of Our lives" ?

I'm more interested in facts not DT type stories.

@happy tiger said:

Yeah right. Players not getting paid.

Lets put it this way if you didn't embellish it you definitely didn't question anything that you were told.

Hey Irvine, it has been rather peaceful for you on here of late, as well as more constructive until this particular thread.

How about adding Mayer to your self imposed mid-year moratorium on the anti Potter crusade? By that time he will be approaching a year in the position, being a reasonable amount of time to make a fair appraisal of his progress.

Maybe I failed to word myself well, though i wasnt claiming you were embellishing, extrapolating/speculating on what you have heard (well alot earlier I was wondering if you had in regards to Braiths 3rd party problems), rather that by putting it out there in the public domain on a forum, that it is the logical progression as the debate ensues.

Anyway, tis all good champ, will see how it all plays out now, its supposedly almost over… no need to compare notes, especially seeing neither are close enough to put anything down to anything more concrete than hearsay, and most likely find the truth is somewhere in the middle.

lol, if Tedesco along with other players weren't paid for their services, there's no reason why Brooks/Farah/Woods would have signed. Could have left and been much better off. There's also no reason why Tedesco would even be considering the Tigers if they are in that much trouble. Let's be real.

why would players not be getting paid given the NRL covers the entire salary cap with 7 mil handouts to each club every year?

unless the club used that money on other stuff (highly doubtful) players are getting paid.

and add in what black orange white just said too.

anyway, well just wait and see what happens. hopefully something comes out next week (potter seems to think it might  )

Willow go easy irvine is spot on. It really is simple, in order to retain the services of tedesco we need to pay his current worth.

I'd suggest most clubs Players Salaries are in excess of $7M once you factor in exemptions and stuff… They are now heading into the $10M a year category!

Exact opposite actually…besides repeating what you read in the newspaper you are the one that has shown to have little knowledge about what is actually going on at the club.

You guys need to go out and have a beer together….

According to the telegraph,Tedesco's contract is held up because of our option on Sirro, who is reportedly on $350k,and trying to offload BMM will solve their cap problems,so what I ask is what is BMM on.
