There's plenty on here that say they're gonna be devastated if he goes, but lets remember how bloody good Potter was as a fullback. He would have to be the best teacher for our young guys in that position. I'm not concerned. Matter of fact, I think I'm kind of relieved that we're saving our cash for guys that want to be there rather than line their pockets.

I think people are just frustrated we have to start from square one again. Not since Hodgo and Prince have we had a solid, consistent 1 and 7\. We now have that with Brooks, and hopefully with Teddy.

I desperately want Tedesco to stay, but there is no way in hell I would offer him $800k at the moment. So far, he has played 25 NRL games in a bit under 2.5 years.

He has been brilliant at the start of this year, but you can't be demanding that much just for a handful of games.

If the Raiders do offer him that much, they are taking a huge risk. If he stays healthy and continues that form, it may pay off for them. But the cost is that they won't be able to keep other players they want. If his form cools off (as has for many players), they will be even more stuffed than they are already this year.

If he leaves I'll be disappointed as a Wests Tigers fan, but at the end of the day, Mayer came out last year and said he won't pay "over"s for players, and it sounds like we're at the brink of our cap space, so it may just be the case that if we've offered $350k (for argument's sake), then that may be as much as we can afford. If Teddy has a piece of paper offering him $600-$700k per year in front of him, well I'd probably take it too, although having lived in Canberra previously, I'd think twice about it!

We can give him all the ultimatum we want but if he chooses to go to the raiders- it's up to them to announce the signing.

Origin period is hardly the time to allow marquee signings. This will go on for another week at least.

Not necessarily.

Mayer can come out and say the deadline has passed and Tedesco's management has indicated he will be signing elsewhere.

Nothing Canberra or anybody else can do about that.

However you would want to be certain he is going before announcing it.

**very much doubt they are offering Tedessco $800k, if they are take it and run!**

Regardless the offer is no doubt large, and good on him if he gets it.

I also do not blame the club for not attempting to match.

If we even offered $500k that is a very big bet.

Key position players are hard to find, but you cant over invest in players.

I don't think its that far fetched. If its not bad enough they're a struggling team, they're located in one of the most boring cities in the country. They have to pay overs.

look it is possible, but spending 1/7 of your cap on one player is enormous.
It puts his salary up there with the very highest in the game. It is more than either Inglis or Slater and there would only be half a dozen players (at very most) that earn that sort of coin.

Tedesco as good as he is, is not in that class.

I have no doubt that he has been offered an enormous contract, but the contracts reported in the media are usually inflated to varying degrees

Tedesco has been impressive in but a handful of games and has spent the large proportion of his career in rehab. To offer him $500k is 'overs', let alone a reputed $800k. While he has massive potential, I can't help thinking Goose, that his kick return style needs to be modified in order to avoid more injuries.

its a shame if he is of to the raiders but you draw a line in the sand $500k a lot of money for a kid who is starting out in the game if they are willing to give $800k then mayer will say bye bye . I think mayer has done a top job since he has taken over the club stick to your guns force the issue :sign:

Agree. It's frustration.

If we had a solid FB we were blooding or waiting in the wings then the level of frustration may be mitigated, but at this stage we got no incumbent and no replacement. Not only that, we have foregone years of potentially getting another FB in because we believed that Teddy would be our No 1 in the future.

Yep, it is pretty crude that we got our hopes up, but at least we'd be saving ourselves the pain of putting all our eggs in one basket if we offered as much as the Raiders. There's several other key players off contract this year I'd like to think would stay at the club too - Gavet, Ava etc.

And whilst there's no incumbent, I reckon Simona could be a decent replacement, or even train Moses up there (has played some NYC games at fullback). Austin is too good to leave out of the side and Moses is fast approaching first grade so there's the dilemma of what happens with them two.

I think you will find it was Tedesco who told Wests Tigers he would give them an answer on Tuesday but not to be out done Wests Tigers now say they have given him an ultimatum. You will find that the Wests Tigers offer was only 300k.

How do you know all this mate….are you his brother?

canberra clearly have a big war chest probably close to 1.5m or even 2m considering they offered milford a mil expectant retirement of campese and front rowers white, lahrs, tilse and letting go a string of other players who haven't performed and promoting juniors.

theyve offered ennis 500k, proctor 600k tedesco 800k and mansour (i'd assume something around 400k) plus talks of joel thompson returning there is a big change happening in canberra but i honestly dont see them winning a comp with what they have and those 5 additions if that happens. they are going through an overhaul and in order to get good players they must pay overs at the moment which is what they are doing

this sounds exactly like what happened when stuart went to the eels and i wouldn't be surprised if things turn out like this:

1\. go to the club and say the squad is simply not up to scratch
2\. get rid of a lot of players and pay players from other clubs way more than they are actually worth
3\. new players are just there for the money and dont play as well as they used to
4\. team goes badly
5\. stuart realises the club is on to him and blames the players, the refs, the weather and the illuminati and leaves canberra in the same crap as he has parramatta, cronulla and the roosters…
6\. stuart goes and wrecks as many ESL clubs as he can!

Lots of figures have been thrown around and Iam sure the only people who know are both clubs,Teddy and his manager.

I think you will find we have very little cap space available and we have had problems sourcing a TPA to a least make a offer to make Teddy think about staying, hence the reason this has dragged on so long.

It now seem all the good oil is telling us he has gone, but it is never over to the fat women/man sings

No source…just a theory...which is they've agreed to terms and this " ultimatum " story is just to paint all in a good light after a long drawn out saga

Probably wrong

Nope..I know the guy..I can tell you his playing golf right now with Braith Benji and Moltz

It really sinks you though when you think about it , we have nurtured him from a kid , been patient throughout his injuries and then get a club paying supposedly massive overs and we can't compete with them , makes you think twice with all your efforts in junior development.
Gee I'm glad we signed Brooks when we did instead of say trying to sign him at this moment in time the Raiders maybe would of paid massive overs for him to

hummph….ONLY $300K - it's what he is worth currently.....based on his performances to date....potential is having the capacity to develop into something in the future - how can you place an accurate figure on something unrealised?

True market value is what something is worth to a broad section of the "market" not one deranged individual (Stuart). Not one other club would pay 800K for Tedesco.

Using that formula we paid "market value" for Blair a few years back, that has gone pretty well hasn't it. (or was that one deranged individual at the time!)
