just wish i could see the books

I think the books are hurting from the last round of backending and overpaying.

Something tells me we are headed in the right direction now

….the decision must have been entirely based on $ as its not humanely possible the raiders could prove more appealing in any other facet....

Not really as travel came into the decision. Canberra is closer to Menangle than Concord.

I do feel he is injury prone though, at least he will have plenty of ice down in Canberra!!

They also have access to cheap porn and firecrackers in Canberra.

Sydney clubs can't compete with that.

Absolutely shattered and pissed off. I said months ago before this whole saga we should offer him a decent contract before the vultures come in, look what happened! I sincerely hope we did and that it was Tedesco and his manager that wanted to test the open market or I would be pretty damn annoyed that we let it come to this.

Long term he will be a much bigger loss than anyone we have ever let get away. Fifita, Hoffman, Teo.

He'll play origin soon, and in my opinion if he can stay injury free will be a better fullback than Billy Slater.

He would've played Origin soon if he was running off Brooks and Farah and our monster forward pack. Canberra have a soft bunch of forwards and the worst halves pairing in the league. He will struggle.

Disappointed, but I think he chose right for himself and so did the club. Hard to argue.

Would be happy to see him run around for us, but if there is a combination that will be just as effective that involves him in Reggies then I'd be happy with that too.

Footy is a business, anyone who is surprised by this decision should have a look at the last few decades of the game.

My final piece on this saga.

James Tedesco has proven Rugby league for some is a business.

That certainly is how at the ripe old age of 21 James sees the game.. Remember Ayoub is responsible for negotiating the offers he has had to digest, at the end of the day it is James Tedesco who makes the call.. I wish him well at the Raiders…

What I am peeved is all the rhetoric Tedesco threw at us during the 3 month contract negotiations...the B.S. about playing with his mates and wanting to stay at the club, how he values being a local Junior etc...etc...That really peeves me how Tedesco strung along the fans, his mates and the club!. with hindsight, it is clear that was a load of crap!. He simply is motivated by $$$ only and money only..had he said that from the outset everyone would have been clear what outcome he is REALLY seeking.... I have no doubt Mayer and the WT did everything they could to keep Tedesco....We obviously fought off approaches by the Roosters and then the Bulldogs to sign him...but we could not beat out the Raiders offer....

Clearly, Tedesco does not believe in loyalty...The WT have supported him for 8 years developing him along the way and supporting his during his long period of rehab...This means very little to him.. The Raiders offer of $650-$800k p.a. is based on potential only as James has not had a proven NRL career to be in the top tier of paid players in the NRL.....I mean 41% availability I hope James delivers more for the Raiders in that area than he has for the WT over the last 2.5 years!!..(i’m sure Sticky has his fingers and toes crossed too)..

Moving forward, Mayer and Potter need to make the hard call..James has decided he does not want to be part of our future..he should spend the rest of the year in NSW Cup. We CAN win games without Tedesco...our key player is not Tedesco but Brooks and Farah...and once we sort out the 5/8 mess our attacking options and flow will only improve WITHOUT Tedesco...We should either make a call to develop Rowe or chose Simona/Nofo as our long term fullback. We should develop them the rest of this year and the future...With the $500k we saved on Tedesco we should upgrade the contracts of Gavet and co... and sign a quality back which we can get for $350-$400k..

I’m glad this is all over....Tedesco should be prepared to cop heaps of verbals from the WT fans over the rest of the year and in my opinion deservedly so....Good luck James...somehow I think you will have seconds thoughts about your decision over the next 3 years!.

Game over!

Can't blame him for taking the money… He's young and stupid... I would have done the same at his age if someone was offering me more than I was worth. However I would also expect no favours from the tigers now ie. playing FG.... If he has shown no loyalty, why should the tigers... It is a business that's for sure, but if you have no future in the company there's no point giving you one of the top jobs... Time to look to the future and it doesn't involve teddy unfortunately... Just an ability to blood someone else and keep room in our cap whilst doing it..

I agree with all the above about sentiments - sucks for a fan, good luck to Tedesco, but I hope he gets smashed when we play Raiders 2015.

Tedesco can't expect ongoing support from the majority of fans any more, it's like Benji once he signed with rugby, there is a definite end of the line now and people will emotionally detach from the player. A "see you later" mentality, especially if his form drops in any way.

Tedesco will not be remembered fondly, he will be that kid who turned down a decent offer from us for a big fat offer from someone else. He spent 8 years with us, but jumped ship on the first contract after his debut, in the direction of $$$. Reminds me of a Glenn Morrison or Ben Te'o situation, and think about how we view those two.

Regarding playing Tedesco again in 2014 - I'm torn, it's a tough one for the coach. He's definitely our best option this year, but he's not a club stalwart, nor is he key to our plans moving forward any longer. We need a replacement FB for 2015 and we need to start thinking about that right now.

If we source an experienced FB from somewhere else, then Tedesco should be played out, because the incoming player won't need the experience.

But if we plan to promote / develop a junior from within, then Tedesco needs to be dropped - start that development now. We can't be going into 2015 with a rookie at the back.

I'm also mindful that if we do play Tedesco, and he carves up, it will make his departure all the more bitter a pill to swallow, and not necessarily make a huge difference to the outcome of our season.

Put simply…Coach Potter MUST stand Tedesco down for the remainder of the season...Tedesco should play the remainder of the season in NSW cup and be 2nd fiddle to young Kurtis Rowe who should fill the fullback role, or shift Nofo to fullback and bring Koroibete back onto the wing....whatever happens Tedesco is not in our plans....forget about him, I only wish he had made this decision sooner instead of dragging it out like a soap opera!!! The drama queen will fit in well with sticky, the 5 good games he's had this year seems to have gone to his head!!!

Kurtis Rowe…please...............It's a professional sport. We need our best team on the field..get over it.

Imcredibly short sighted.
Even with tedesco we will be fringe 8\. Without him we will be fringe 8

Medium to long term the team will be better placed expending time and resources on players who will be here and want to be here. Those players will also reward the WT vote of confidence in them.

He will get injured again within weeks of his return to the top grade so standing him down will not be a issue!!!!!

No seriously the club has to put its best 17 up each week regardless of what is going down in 2015\. Sour grapes is a very bad look. Potter will have the best part of five months to come up with a viable solution in the off season but for now we have to give them every chance to win. You do not punish the whole playing group because one player wants to up and leave at the end of the season.

Also as others have said, the club for once was smart about this contract and did not get them self into a massive bind a few years down the track with a massive back loaded contract to deal with.

Good luck to the kid, he took the money and ran, really quick too.
There isn't much loyalty in sport these days, its a business, so you cant attack the kid for locking up a future even if the team he is moving to might get the spoon every year.
Also, why do you want players at a club that don't want to be there?
We wont win the comp this year and were never likely to, but if we can give Rowe the rest of the year to develop, everyone may be pleasantly surprised.

No one said we wont be fringe 8\. We are always fringe 8\. And No one said he doesn't want to be here..just like BMM always wanted to be here. You cant always get what you want.
We have made semi's 3 out of 14 years. The so bad Canberra have made 8 semi's out of 14.
