Tedesco - Wing or Fullback

Playing Tedesco up against Vidot is just asking for trouble IMHO

And then you've got a rep winger on the other side in Morris. Adds weight to the play him at fullback argument for sure. If he is going to play one wing i'd prefer it be on Vidot.

I know its unusual to actually play a fullback at fullback but his a fullback. He was a fullback in NYC. Sheens played him at fullback. He played all his junior football at fullback.
Not like Mullaney and Moltzen they were both halves.

Expecting a young guy to learn a new position at the top level when hasn't played that position is a difficult task.

You can see Potter wants him in the team but its not fair to expect him to be a success straight away or not make mistakes his learning 1st grade plus a new position on the run.

I hope Moltzen doesn't keep him out of the position long term because in the end we won't be able to keep two quality fullbacks

Its a tough one, tedesco is def better at fb but on the other hand moltzen isn't a winger either. Moltzen is going OK back there imo , the thing that worries me about tedesco is the one on one missed tackles and just his general defence, some of the tackles he has missed aren't from being caught out of position on the wing they are weak attempts. For now moltzen stays at 1 for mine and maybe tedesco either on the bench and injected at the right time or given more time to work on his game.

Good call, I agree.

By seasons end I would like to see teddy in 1 and moltzen in 14\. I definitely think we could use an injection of speed at the back end of a game to take advantage of tired forwards. Most of moltzen's tries seem to be in the last 20mins.

i want him there asap but feel like im thinking more with my heart than with my brain when i think of that.

i dont see a problem with him on the wing at all… i find defending on the wing quite simple tbh... go in if your centre goes in.. stay out if your centre stays out LOL. obviously it's more complicated than that, but i think he can keep the wing spot.. he wont disappoint us there

Moltzen is a better front line defender than Tedesco and you would expect him to be… his played 80 games more than Tedesco.
Tedesco is a better support player and kick returner than Moltzen and that's got nothing to do with NRL games that is just instinct and heart.

Agree with everything you've said, what Moltzen's better at can be taught, what Tedesco's better at can't be taught its just instinct and talent.

Regardless of how well Moltzen plays at FB, I'm not going to be a happy camper if Tedesco hasn't assumed the role full time by the end of this year.

Tedesco is the best fullback at the club period . Moltzen's true feelings about bombs were seen last week .

Remember seeing Cronks face just after the dropped bomb and he motioned something and just smiled

He had his bunny for the night

It's quite interesting observing Potter's position on Moltzen and Tedesco. It's clear that as the incumbent Moltzen has been given first crack and to be fair he hasn't done too badly. Certainly a lot better than last season. However, once Tedesco was in the starting line up, we've seen him being switched to fullback in both games. So that's a clear sign that Potter wants him playing the position in first grade and further, it's also a sign that Moltzen's days there are most definitely numbered.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out this week. Does Tedesco get even more time there at the back or does it stay like it did on Monday night with the odd shift. Of course there's some chance that Tedesco could play a full game there should he move Moltzen to the halves. However i'm banking on Sironen getting the nod so that will most likely put an end to it.

Good post pete.
Im just wondering if young Sirro has 80 mins of NRL in him?
where will he be defending? 2 in from wing last year wasnt it?
Probably get a lot of traffic his way…coming off a shoulder job

I was only just asking myself the question there too. I can't imagine Sirro will get 80mins. Just doesn't have the miles in the legs right now, especially for a 19 yr old. Obviously at some point later in the game Moltz will move to the halves Teddy will go fullback. Who moves to wing?? No idea? If Akauola comes in would he move into the backline??

I dont think its his defence ,Lawrence reads the attack like he's a defence dyslexic honestly , he needs a stint in the lower grade to sort himself out , Tedesco is and allways will be a fullback and a good one too
