OFFICIAL Terrell May #296

It's really disappointing Stef being picked in the squad before May. I sometimes wonder if it's just our bias and whether we overrate our own players, but looking at the impact of both players on a match for us and May just adds so much to our defensive intensity and attitude, along with all the stats and the minutes. He is a very good tackler, often single-handedly creating dominant tackles along with his consistency in attack and offloading ability.

Stef is a big body who occasionally runs hard. He is usually poor when against the momentum and is a weak defender in the tackle who also can be lazy in his movement and doesn't have much of a motor.

There's just no comparison between them, May is so much better.

I think we all expected Stefano to go to another level at Melbourne, but he's the same plodder. This is surprising not only because he's in the Bellamy machine but also because they've been much more dominant in momentum than he ever experienced at the Tigers and for us that would usually be when he has his big games, but he's not really any different in his play.

I get May, Api and Luai not getting picked, with May being the most hard done by, but picking Stefano in the extended squad is just really poor and does unfortunately highlight that the perception of our club has a huge impact on rep selections.

I think you answered it yourself in the first couple of sentences. “Looking at the impact of both players on a match for us”. May stands out because he is our pack leader, Stefano doesn’t need to be standing out as much in a star studded Melbourne side but does the basics and effort areas right whilst being strong in ball carry’s and first contact.
If you don’t believe it’s true, watch the first 20mins of the Melbourne match. Whilst May may have been underdone due to a decision to complete a three day fast there is no excuse for how he just didn’t match up vs Haas and Carrigan.
He is great for us, but needs to improve to go to that next level. The great thing out of all this over the top exposure is the media is this both are coaching staff and the player himself are aware of what needs improvement. If they both treat this criticism professionally it can only improve both May and the team.

Any detached objective judge wld take May over Stef every day of the week...bumping off the occasional midget creates a false perception. He runs and hides when hes up against the big boys
and btw,Api so much better than Robson..... he does miss the odd tackle, partly because he makes so many and effectively slows the opposition momentum
Luai just didnt do enuff

It was a poor comment from May and he has to accept it internally. Externally, I don't care. If he had said this comment about a Tigers jersey, I'd have been upset too.

When you are putting yourself out like that in Vlogs and getting money for advertisements etc, you have to be aware of what you say and how it can be perceived.

The fact though is that the comments were made after he got rejected. The comments weren't the reason he got rejected. To have Stefano over him makes no sense. King deserves his shot, but not over May either.

If the comments indicate a bigger attitude problem, no one except his current and ex-teammates can answer that. From all accounts, no body has a problem with him.

Daley and co to prove their own selections have made May out to be a Jackson Hastings off the field and a Nathan Hindmarsh on it.

I think this will motivate him and make him work harder though. He doesn't strike me as the type to give up that easily.

Nathan the Lawnmower guy posted an interview with him today and he cleared it all up and for me is a NO story.
He excepts he made a mistake saying it but when you hear what happened it was just banter between mates and people need to lighten up.

Nutshell - He brought his QLD mate a NSW jersey so he could wear it if he was picked but as knew he wasn't in the team he said the comment.. It was a joke most of us would say to another mate.

Just shows Laurie or his team didn't reach out to get an understanding of what happened and that says more about them then May

Daley has turned a blind eye for everything Terrell has done
Imagine if Haas is injurd and another prop has a HIa early which resulted in Steffy U-turnamano being called on to play 75 in the middle In origin🫩🫣 .IM absolutely certain that Daley and the rest of NSW supporters would much prefer the thought of having Terrell May having to deal with those circumstances and not Steffy .. that to me makes it a certainty that Daley is playing politics and jobs for the boys with this team , the antithesis of what Rep football and Origin is supposed to represent.. it’s a disgrace and I am ashamed of Laurie for selling out like this

Media: “His defence is a concern”
May: Ok how does 63 tackles with 0 missed and 1 inneffective sound?

Media: “He won’t gel well with the team”
Spencer Leniu: *gets in fight with Jonathan Thurston and posts some random social media rant*
Haumole Olakau’atu: “been a maroon since day dot”
Latrell Mitchell: “f this, f that, self-imposed media ban”

Media: “All he does is carry the ball up”
May: I won RLPA impact player of the year.

Media: “He’s not an Origin type player”
Me: How would you know if he’s never played Origin!!!!!!.

It’s astounding how good some people are at mental gymnastics. The World Championships would be very tightly contested.
Great summation. 👍

I can sorta get the decision to go with Moses. He does have a much better kicking game than Luai. But the May omission is telling. It's either plain stupidity or as others have alluded to, direct bias against anyone wearing the Tigers colours.
The other one that I think is a bit crazy is picking Edwards and giving no consideration what so ever to Teddy or Paps.

I'm sure, or at least hopeful that Edwards will acquit himself in the Origin arena but purely on form I don't think he should of even been in the equation.

The drunken Buzzard was questioning Daley last night on NRL360 about various selections and asking him for his justification but didn't even question the fullback position.

I think some of our players are not the only ones that were hard done by.

Both King and Utoikamanu have Ciraldo and Bellamy as coaches and strong player rosters. Utoikamanu moved to Melbourne to improve his rep chances and to win a premiership. How would it look if the player who replaced him at WTs was selected ahead of him for NSW SOO? Even more so if Bellamy is the advisor! How would it look for Robinson who moved him on only to learn he was selected in NSW SOO the following year. I believe it is a credit to May and Marshall that he was even in contention.
Exactly the questions I have been asking.

I wasn't aware of the Fittler interview with Jessica and Noemi Fox until another forum member mentioned it in the context of Fittler calling out May for the jersey comment. I am sure their mother, Miriam, was a highly ranked canoeist and is Jewish, as are Jessica and Noemi. It adds another layer of inappropriateness to his comment.
What’s a good Jewish mum think of her being an underwear model?
