For a bloke who just signed a 5 year deal he wasnt that up beat either was he, i wonder why.

I completely agree with that. I'm not saying that the playing group was ok with the instability or there was no effect.
I agree that everything seems to suggest the overthrowing of the board that led to Richos resignation was a stuff up.
I just don't agree that Bula was about to sign or that Luai was about to throw away his clauses. I've seen no evidence of either to be likely and in the case of Luai it is also completely illogical. I also question that it is currently influencing Bulas decision, though it certainly would have at least stalled negotiations and gave Moses an angle to argue for more money.
Finally in the case of May we can see that there was obviously at least some sort of impact on preliminary informal conversations. But if May can be believed it hasn't now changed his desire to remain at the club.

On last seasons form nobody is interested in poaching Luai for the same money we are paying him, so he is not getting any other offers unless his onfield form improves dramatically.
If he improves the team as a whole will improve, our results will improve and he will want to stay with us for the ride.
If his form does not improve from last season, then we would be hoping someon else takes him off our hands.
We have the upper hand and are in win, win situation with Luai.
Similar with Bula. Based on last seasons form and his trial form, nobody else is offering him what we are.
The rumour is he wants a long term deal which we are currently baulking at until he shows his value this season.
Same as Luai, if Bula plays to a 1 million per season price tag he will be helping us win plenty of games and if that happens why would he be looking anywhere else ?
We are in a win, win situation with Bula.
Same again with Terrell May.
All 3 players need us just as much, if not more than what we need them.
If they all step up and play to the contract values they are already on or are requesting, we will be the hottest club in the NRL and they will not be looking to go anywhere else.

No one knows if HBG played a part in the argument Moses and Gould put forward for Galvin - but it was pretty clear that he didn't want to be here. TDS is a different story - I doubt HBG had anything to do with his retention - he was offered what we thought he was worth with a pathway to a full time FG gig. He chose to look elsewhere and we didn't get in his way because someone in our system prioritised Haywood over TDS (and from the limited exposure I have had to Haywood it appears to have been a good decision).

We need to let the HBG bullshit go and focus on each individual as it is clear that Benji relates to the players on an individual level and he is the one making the big decisions on retention and recruitment, in concert with the CEO and his inner sanctum. HBG may have veto powers but I trust that they have no invovement in recruiting and retention decisions except for potentially rubber stamping expenditure over a certain threshold.

Yes, we need to stop the HBG bullshit. I got to get better at not biting.
