OFFICIAL Terrell May #296

Totally

It's quite clear to everyone under the sun that post football careers are limited.
A smart man start youtubeing now and Insta everything.
I won't begrudge any NRL player who is one tackle from being a quadraplegic a chance at a side hussle.
It surprises me that clubs allow it tbh. Munster and Hughes have their own Podcast too. Just seems like a too laid back atmosphere that could make them liable to say anything. They haven’t yet though I suppose 🤔

I allow my kid to ride their bike, it's good for them. I don't let them ride their bike across the freeway.

The clubs, well at least Melbourne will be managing that podcast with rules and guidance. They know if a player says something totally stupid it could ruin the club. Just look at us and Farah's casual Triple M with Gordon Tallis?

So with Terrell May saying:
"I have no loyality" ...<to the club> [If Benji Marshall is gone so am i].

What does that tell you?

Clearly our club doesn't manage the podcast. Shawn M did not vet that statement and neither did Tigers media.

Worringly this may be May telling the club to back off from Marshall if Burgess and co are playing games. I doubt it though.
IMHO May is probably just stirring. Because you stir in todays media and say stupid things, you get rewarded with likes, attention and more chances to say more stupid things 🙂

Front rower + Microphone + ego. Never a good combo.

I thought that was poor. If he said that at a presser it would be all over the news. Tbf, I don’t think he said it as bluntly as that, but definitely that was the intent. I also don’t like the fact the club are being pushed to sign his brother just to keep him happy too.

The club sold him a vision with Benji at the helm. He accepted the contract because he is loyal to Benji.

He's saying if that changes, there are no guarantees the loyalty remains.

It was a fair comment. Don't be so hysterical about it.

Man he’s been at the club 18 months. It’s not long enough for him to form deep rooted ties . And whilst yes , Ihes telling the truth , 5 years and a premiership down the road , and loyalty reciprocated by the club ie. external of benji , will lead to loyalty .
He’s been shafted both of his last clubs where he was all in .
I think he’s just being honest . I don’t see something to be angry about , but rather I see a guy who’s been burnt in the past , and rightfully has extreme reservations about being loyal to a commercial brand .
he’s loyal to people . He’s loyal to Benji . I see no issue with that . The Storm players are loyal to the “Storm” . What is the Storm though ? Is it a brand , an emblem , bricks and mortar , a gym ? Or is it the people . Is it Bellamy and Ponissi .
The club will be there long after I’m gone . Is something I’ve seen spouted by Benji a few times . But really it won’t be , if framework and continuity arnt put in place . The “club” is only as good as the people within it . And whilst Benji has the loyalty of the players … which is awesome by the way , it’s now up himself and the coaches and the club prove that beni himself is an extension of a previous regime , and a continuity if even at the start of what should have been something great . Only we lost our way for 10-12 years trying to be something we weren’t importing other teams cultures and eventually losing complete sight of who and what the club really were .
to me that views as a guy , who wants to be loyal , and wants to be apart of something . He just right now has a hard time viewing the club and beni as one and the same . If the hierarchy ie. HBG can stay out of it , and Benji at least has enough time to leverage his own personal loyalty in a club loyalty , then I believe things will shift .
I would personally think it was bullshit if he said he was loyal to the tigers ride or die . The fact he says Benji reminds me of the way guys used to talk about Bennett .

TDM doesn't act like a gangsta and what is wrong with doing YouTube and setting himself up for life after footy? So many retired footballers go through hard times because they didn't plan for life after footy.
I was thinking about this recently.
TDM is very head strong, he refused to play for one of the panthers feeders teams because it was his arch rival growing up. The YouTube comments by the Penrith CEO were out of touch, but I wonder whether the "gangsta" comments had some truth to it. A boy who grew up in the hood and wants to stay in the hood. Idk the kinds of people he hangs out with. The penrith system would have seen the 3 boys grow up and have far more context than us. The May boys appear to have matured alot since those days, but who knows. At the end of the day, we have the best 2 May brothers locked down till 2030 and they are both putting in on the field whilst staying out of trouble off the field. Its just a shame for TDM his name is mud and doesnt get a look in for NSW - hopefully that changes when theres a new coach next year.

On a separate note, who can blame TDM for his comments around loyalty to Benji and not the club. If we all werent so emotionally tied to the club, i'm sure plenty of us would have walked away at times.

Glad TDM is ours and not someone else’s. He is the last person you’d expect to do a podcast but atleast he’s honest and offers a platform for players to show their personalities outside of robotic media answers. Just hope it doesn’t come back to bite him one day. The stuff about loyalty to benji and not the club can rub some people the wrong way but I truly think he means well , just struggles to get his point across sometimes

He's a unique character and it bodes well for us that Benji let's him be him. It provides good marketing for us.

Whenever I see him talk about Penrith or Roosters, I just want him to shut up, but at the end of the day, each player talks about this stuff with their teammates and friends, he just says it all unashamedly in public and as long as he's not divulging game plans and stuff, you let him be him.

If Laurie doesn't like him saying this stuff in public then his loss.
Laurie was a great player but isn't a coaches ass hole, and couldn't pick his massive nose let alone a solid NSW team.. That display is game 1 was terrible and well only just beat 12 players.May should have been a walk up starter. NSW will get flogged if he doesn't make changes

God...players get media training, probaly only the prominent ones im not sure if they all do.

But anyone can say anything stupid or wrong to a journo, after a game when buggered..pre-game presser...not a big deal

Cleary? He doesn't come across as being quite in touch with the common fan lol
Champion @BrissieTiger67, Nathan sure 'enjoyed" Covid ......

The NRL suspended Penrith Panthers halfback Nathan Cleary for two matches and fined him $30,000 in May 2020 for breaching strict COVID-19 physical distancing restrictions and misleading the league's Integrity Unit.
The sanction stemmed from a social media scandal that unfolded on Anzac Day during the pandemic lockdown.

If Fonua Blake/Barnett are the starting front row again NSW will lose. Haas will come back. The 8 and 10 should be Haas/Yeo with Murray at 13.

Said they want his brother Tyrone to come back to Aus and play for the Tigers …but he is happy in UK doing his own thing
Mentioned this the other day - pretty sure he said Tyrone got an offer from the Tigers last year and knocked us back - seemed resigned that he won’t be coming back to the NRL…
He’s the man in his side over there, he’s not coming back here to play backup.

My guess is if the brothers want to play together as has been suggested - it will be after they’re done here, and in the Super League.

I think it’s clear he and his brother aren’t well liked outside of our club. Not sure if it was said on that podcast, but he has said recently he almost ended up at the Panthers when the Roosters let him go, and that the first thing the Panthers CEO told him was “You aren’t a gangsta, you aren’t a YouTuber. You’re a footballer”. And that rubbed him the wrong way.
Also found it interesting when he was talking origin - he didn’t make the 50 man camp…
He wouldn’t be my first pick for Origin, and I’m a fan of his…
But 50 men is 3 sides, if we had to pick 3 x Blues sides tomorrow…
Surely he makes one of them?

Has decided staying on in the UK is what’s best for him and the family…
Terrell backed it up saying something like, it doesn’t matter what we want - he’s gotta do what’s best for him.

Seems a dead egg to me - he won’t be back in the NRL (unless it’s with the Chiefs)
