Test Cricket Draft Game...*Banter Thread...

Chucking a cricket ball, throwing etc, under the !CC Laws is more than the permissible limit of 15 degrees. (This was raised from the previous limited degree allowances, because many old style cricketers had been shown as having flaunted the rule in their actions.)

So any judgements re chuckers etc, to me, is a bit like, say, the Catholic Church that used to ban meat on Fridays - now it's permissable. Likewise, today's rules are tomorrow's ancient history.

Any judgement we each make, in my opinion, does not need any justifying feedback.

When the Olympics judges raise their cards, they give their 10s, or 9s or whatever and then the totals are added up and the winner is proclaimed. So should it be here.

I have decided on the voting process:

1st vote will be for the opening batsmen
2nd vote will be for batsmen 3-5
**Note** these 2 votes will EXCLUDE All rounders and wicket keepers chosen there.
For example in CB's case, Kallis will be his all-rounder and his number 6 will fill the gap for the 3-5s

1\. Saeed Anwar

3\. Jacques Kallis (A/R)
4\. Martin Crowe
5\. Allan Border *
6.
7\. Sarfraz Ahmed (W/K)
8\. Stuart MacGill
9.
10\. Ryan Harris
11\. Wasim Akram

3rd vote will be All-rounders
4th vote will be wicket keepers
5th vote will be pace bowlers
6th vote will be spinners

I decided to split the batsmen to make voting a bit easier. 50 players would be a huge task.

Ummm and I'm just using hapster as an example…

1 Aravinda De Silva
2 Mohammad Azharuddin
3 David Boon
4 Mark Waugh
5 Javed Miandad
6 Inzamam Ul Haq
7 Andy Flower W/K
8 Shaun Pollock A/R
9 Shane Warne
10 Darren Gough *
11 James Anderson

He bats 3-6 not 3-5 and has a bowling all-rounder,,,Everyone else has 3 fast bowlers..where does Pollock fit...

How did Sourav Ganguly last this long before being picked…

I did see him , but I would have had to kick my own behind if I picked him

One bloke in world cricket along with Harbijan that I couldn't stand

But I'll be objective , pretty good batsmen

He was being cited until 2004, and they had to change the rule for him. A lot of his career was illegal bowling.

Well instead of having a total of 40 for bowlers and 30 for mid order batsmen, he'll have 30 for bowlers and 40 for mid order bats. I think it'll even out.

That won't work because he only has 2 pace bowlers

Well 20 for pace, 10 for spin, and 40 for batsmen instead of 30/10/30.

It won't affect the overall score, there's still 11 players there, it's too late to go back and change it all I reckon.

Yep I get what you're saying now. You're right, it'll even out.

I think so,

For bowling I reckon we need to put up matches, wickets, average, economy and strike rate.

For batting I reckon we need to put up matches, runs, average and strike rate (maybe include 50's/100's.)

Are we including stats for players who played prior to 1990 who finished their careers in the 90' or just only stats from 1990 onwards for those players…

You can put up whatever stats you think will improve the likely-hood of geting goof votes. IMO voters should be looking for that 1990-present option. I understand some may find it difficult to find the specific stats for that era but that's okay. As has been suggested the blurb about justification of your votes is a good idea. It can split the people who are just playing the game for a bit of fun from those you actually know their cricket.
