The top ranked Opening Batsman was a draw between Graeme Smith and Virender Sehwag.
I'm not revealing more than that so votes aren't influenced.

Easy, the greatest batsman since the Don. Sachin. I think he's the only batsman in history whose earned the right to be treated as Bradman's equal.

That is correct.

Similarly this time with Hayden.
He never played a single test batting somewhere other than opener.

Hard to go past Warner and Sehwag. 2 guys who can take the game out of your hands in the space of an hour. I have Cook rated highly too. A lot of it based on the 10/11 Ashes, he was an absolute machine that series. Highest runs scored of any touring batsman ever in Australia i think. No mean feat.

I'm only 30, but Cook is easily the best English batsman I've seen, better than KP IMO. He still has years ahead of him too.

P.S. Changed my Amla and De Silva picks, must have got confused with them opening in ODI's.

Gooch kicks Cooks butt every day of the week and twice on Sundays CB

Except I only saw the tailend of Gooch's career and he was tailing off by that point.

For me splitting **Ponting** and **Lara** was almost impossible. In the end I looked at 100s/50s of which Ponting has 41/62 and Brian Lara has 34/48\. I know stats don't tell the full story but for me this was the only way I could split 2 of the best batsmen I have ever seen play the game. **Hussey** had to be up there too, one of the most reliable batsmen there's been. I found the top 10 or so picked themselves. The other big difficulty I had was **Smith** and **Williamson**, however Smith won out for his superb run of form that is unrivaled in world cricket for easy it made it look, especially against the Poms. **Inzy** was another that could have been ranked higher, only to be as low as he is due to him being one of the laziest cricketers in history. Down the bottom, **Boon**, **Crowe**, **Border** and **Miandad** didn't play for very long in this era, and **Hayden** not playing a single game outside Opener.

Can not go past Sachin. In my mind the 3 best batsmen to ever play the game outside Bradman were Tendulkar, Ponting and Lara. I can't vote on Lara obviously. I also rate Dravid highly, his endurance and ability to occupy the crease was second to none, the best ever in that regard imo. I voted Damien Martyn pretty low as i regard him one of the most overrated players to ever wear the baggy green. He was just a decent player in a team of champions. I think Ben Stokes has the potential to be one of the best all rounders the game has seen, but he's a long way off atm. Hayden is ranked at the bottom due to the fact he wasn't a middle order player. Had he been selected as an opener i'd have had him in the top 10, probably even the top 5.

Clear as mud as the saying goes , well seeing it will be a complete waste of time just pull my players and ignore my votes

Nothing personal Sabre , just had absolutely no idea the rules had been changed
