Hang on , when we first brought this up CB suggested we just pick players and didn't have to worry whether they were openers or not

This where this has got so confusing , even with the all rounder thing that Geo brought up yesterday and now with the openers

I brought up one particular idea , CB slightly altered it (as far as openers and something else was concerned )and as far as I knew nothing was changed after that

When was this changed to 1/ pick actual openers and b/ how the line up would be picked as far as all rounders were concerned ??

Yeah originally just suggested 5 bats, 1 keeper, 1 allrounder,1 spinner, 3 pacemen.

I thought we were rating them out of 10\. Doesn't matter, we're too far gone now I reckon.

I have decided on the voting process:
>
1st vote will be for the opening batsmen
2nd vote will be for batsmen 3-5
Note these 2 votes will EXCLUDE All rounders and wicket keepers chosen there.
For example in CB's case, Kallis will be his all-rounder and his number 6 will fill the gap for the 3-5s
>
3rd vote will be All-rounders
4th vote will be wicket keepers
5th vote will be pace bowlers
6th vote will be spinners
>
I decided to split the batsmen to make voting a bit easier. 50 players would be a huge task.

wait wait we said dw about openers just 6 batsmen including keeper

3) Your team must follow this format, in order: 6 bats (inc. keeper), 1 allrounder, 4 bowlers (inc. 1 spinner)

i havent followed every comment on the thread but that's what i was going by and didn't worry about putting 1 and 2 as my openers, didn't worry about openers at all

4\. Nathan Astle

1\. Ross Taylor

Hard to go past Warner and Sehwag. 2 guys who can take the game out of your hands in the space of an hour. I have Cook rated highly too. A lot of it based on the 10/11 Ashes, he was an absolute machine that series. Highest runs scored of any touring batsman ever in Australia i think. No mean feat.

also just saying swag has matthew hayden at #3, probably the best opening batsmen of that era.

Yeah, a bit stupid. Then you got guys like Ross Taylor and De Silva, who rarely if ever opened in tests.

swag has Ross Taylor opening and has never opened the batting in tests ever..

He's had ample time to change as they were among the first he picked…it was even mentioned in the banter thread couple of times...

I assume you mean Trescothick and not Nathan Astle?
