Peter Badel on NRL360 reckons the WTs are about to table a formal offer for 2.5 seasons for TPJ

His manager met with Donahue today maybe a deal is already done

Who's Donahue?

Broncos CEO

How reliable is Peter Badel when it comes to his sources?

Never trust a man under 70 years of age who wears cardigans.

Not sure why we would want TPJ for this season? He's got a few more weeks of suspension to serve and our season is shot. Waste of money for this year IMO.

Hey I wear cardigans!

Also been known to wear a cardigan from time to time and have done so much to the amusement of mates since my early 20's (now late 30's lol).

Warm, comfortable, stylish. What's not to like!

Badel is on the money with the 2.5 year offer which will be submitted today to TPJ Manager, but currently at the Broncos they don't know their left from their right.
As seen with the whole Billy Walters saga the Broncos do more flips then Cirque Du Le !
TPJ will cost us a maximum of $150k for 2021 & if they take Walters in a trade the final amount will be used to upgrade a lower grade player to the top 30 with Kiah Cooper, Pauga & Tuilagi the likely.

In relation to Finucane to say those in the club are divided is an understatement. Those who want him is purely for influence/culture on & off the field. The other side wary of long term deal biting us in the rear like Packer.
Club discussed a 2 year deal but Finucane's management won't entertain that at all unless there's a 3rd year option in his favour.
It will cost a minimum of $650-$675k per year for him to join us, I don't think we are his number 2 choice let alone number 1.

That's good news re: TPJ. I hope we get him.

Thanks Mate,
Do you think the deal will go ahead for TPJ or should we be concerned about the Dogs coming in late

Unless Dogs are stupid enough to pay more/extra for this year considering he's suspended for the next 3 weeks then I'd say it's evenly matched, but as far as I'm aware we are the only club that has a concrete offer in front of him.

When do you think we'll hear back from TPJ?

Club awaiting on medical report for Smith-Shields but from what I'm told he sees his pathway in Canberra too crowded & we are in the box seat. Development deal for 2022 to start off with.

Correct me if I am wrong, after RD10 development and KOE cup players are eligible for FG.

You are correct, but clubs need to fill top 30 spots prior to August 1 & if TPJ comes in it won't leave alot to spend so upgrading from lower grades on minimum wage will be the likely action taken.

Thanks so much for info. I hope this makes sense……Does the formal offer follow informal discussions with player/manager and current club where things are “agreed” and they say put it in writing for final decision or do we play our hand only in the formal offer and await consideration?

FWIW, Dean Ritchie reporting that he has "heard" TPJ to Tigers effective immediately this week.

Bit of both, discussions have been had on where we need to be at to get a deal done & then the obvious story during the week saying players going "nowhere". Unless a team (Bulldogs) come in with another formal offer rather quickly I expect this to move fast. But also depends on which Broncos turns up to the table as they have a split personality at the moment. Not sure if Ikin had anything to do with the mid week story, but seems there biggest issue is Lodge & how much other clubs want the Broncos to pay to take him off their hands.

Would certainly be on the cards, TPJ wants out with how he's been "treated" over the last couple weeks. Offer only submitted today, if he agrees will all come down to his Manager securing the release from Broncos.

No one has downvoted it. Someone probably went to upvote you and hit the other one by accident. I am prone to doing that on the mobile.

Sounds like TPJ staying on with them this year is just a face saving exercise by the Broncos.

They do have a LOT of injuries at the moment and struggling to get a team on the park (mostly backs though).
