The 4 games at each Traditional Ground

How much better was it to have 4 games this year at Campbelltown and 4 games at Leichhardt. :sign:

I think the balance was much better and an 88% win rate speaks volumes.

In a couple of years I hope we can increase it to 5 games at each, but this was a good first move by the Wests Tigers.
:wahoo:

Loved it … I liked the structure too. All the SFS games were over by Round 10, leaving CS and LO for the rest of the year.

Here are the crowd averages for the 3 venues:

SFS/SCG = 22478 (inflated by the SCG crowd .. take that out and it's 19743 for the 3 SFS games
Leichhardt = 16475 (two night games really didnt help. For the Sunday games, we averaged 19798
Campbelltown = 15305 (again, night games didnt help, averaged 18554 for day games)

Damn I just did the crowd averages and was about to post them.

lol thanks mate!

*I got 15,505 for the CSS average

Good thread mate, I think Cambo, Leichhardt and the SFS have all really helped us this year! I know it's only one additional game at each traditional home ground, but 2 wins can really make a difference in this comp. Financially, we're in a pretty good state, hopefully there'll be a time when we don't have to rely on the big stadiums to offer us money to play at their grounds.

I did it again … still got 15,305

These were my figures:

V Roosters - 19901
V Warriors - 10061
V Titans - 14050
V Panfers - 17208

How come you eliminate the SCG game and make a concession for the night games at LO and CS? Were 3rd highest home crowds in the comp I believe. 2nd In Sydney.

Mate I added the SCG game in to the SFS/SCG average.

Just making some comments.

So 15890 at the traditionals and 22478 at Moore Park, with all 3 games at the SFS at night. Thats an extra 7,000 odd people at Moore Park per game. I'd interpret those figures as a vote for Moore Park.

Only reason I commented on night games at the traditional grounds is because that's when people favour games at LO and CS. It's also less profitable for the club to play nights there, so whether it's a day or night game is a big factor.

think about the games that were played at each ground though.
SCG/SFS- rabbitohs, manly, parra, bulldogs. (all sydney teams with huge fan bases)
LO- canberra, sharks, melbourne, cowboys (3interstate teams and sharks who never travel anyway)
Campbelltown- warriors (international team and it was raining all week), titans(interstate), penrith(not interstate but still a trek for penrith fans, looked like a storm that day) and roosters (huge crowd)

The fact that LO and, to a lesser extent, Campbelltown still get good crowd figures with such shit games shows the ability of the traditionals to draw a crowd..
I'm not saying they should be playing 6 at lo and 6 at campbelltown but don't say moore park should get more games because they get bigger crowds.

Not since both grounds go upgraded lights it isn't

Yeah might be my bad, I had 10,861 recorded as the Warriors crowd.

Am comfortable with the split this year. We could really optimise crowd numbers if we knew the draw at the beginning of the year - but all teams have to live with that.

Our matches at LO and CS are so dependent on crowd numbers. We should try and play as many Sydney teams at these grounds as possible.

Save the games against interstate teams for the SFS

Very true Alex…if you really want to get into if form leading into each home game is also a factor....

I hope we eventually play half of our home games at Campbelltown Stadium and the other half at Leichhardt Oval but the capacity at those grounds need to increase for that to happen.

Correct, and with only 2 games per week played during the day each week that means we are going to have more night games than day games. So why would you want the club to play all games at LO and CS when we cant pull a crowd there at night?

True. The Melbourne game is a classic example. Out of state team yet we still pulled 20,000.

I think there's a general consensus in the game that everyone wants more day matches. Just a matter of how to schedule it to make the broadcasters happy.
