Thank you everyone who attended and those wanting to attend future events ..your feedback and support is appreciated..

With that in mind the next Event will be Round 5 v Cowboys at the Sackville Hotel...this will be a Wests Tigers promotion more details to follow.

We are in the planning stages for Ambush events for Round 6 v South Sydney at Wests Ashfield and Round 9 v Gold Coast at Wests Campbelltown..

Is this going to be an EVERY round kind of thing? Not my place to make suggestions but I would think that home games will be difficult because of numbers going to the games and fatigue setting in for EVERY week, particularly if the club are interacting?.

Perhaps all away games might be suggestion?

No it wont be an every Round thing..It really is dependant on the Draw..and where they are playing and times they are playing

We want to hold events at venues close to our home grounds ..the idea is also to make Wests Ashfield the home of the Wests Tigers Away Game..

It just so happens that Round 5 is a Leichhardt game and Wests Tigers are partnering with the Sackville Hotel so are running an Event..they then don't get another home game until Round 13 which is also Origin week..

Round 6 is an away game v Souths at 5:30 on a Saturday night which we feel is a good timeslot..

Round 9 is a Campbelltown home game also at the 5:30 Saturday timeslot ...Campbelltown don't get another home game until Round 25..

So we feel the 5:30 timeslot on a Saturday for a home game is doable especially given the venue is so close to the ground..

The Club is very supportive of our initiative

I have to say GEO,when I organised the very first WTF get together I was happy to do the work.I tried to get the club to have someone come and do a Q&A and all I got was rejection after rejection...You even told me not to mention the WTs forum just say we are a group of members getting together...
Now the club WANTS to reach out to the members and community and raise profile and money, they are bending backwards to help...
A nice kick in the guts for me when all I wanted was people to meet and greet each other in a common love of the club and rugby league...

The idea with home games is to have it at a venue near the ground (even the possibility of at the ground), stop off have a beer, with some sort of Q and A or similar and then head on over to the game. It's about turning the day into more than just heading to the footy.

We are definitely not looking at all games at the moment, though Wests Ashfield are very keen for us to be there every away game.

Fair enough. Like I said, its a great initiative and far be it for me to make suggestions.

The every away game thing at a central location makes sense.

Mate, we are 100% open to suggestions. There is no ego in this, we are doing this to build the connection between fans and their connection to the club. The ultimate goal is increasing membership engagement with the club and an increase in membership numbers.

The way I really view this is trying to build the sense of community we have here across our fanbase and members.

Id feel more comfortable making suggestions if I had attended, I just feel that its hard to maintain momentum in something like this so every week might be hard, plus home games people are going to be flat out getting to the game. Additionally if the club is going to contribute like they did last week providing two players, you dont want to set it up as a strain on them.

The every away game thing at Ashfield makes sense, perhaps if you have home games events is a less formal beer before the game kinda thing.

Please take my suggestion with a massive grain of salt, you guys have done a great job and I hate to input into something others are putting hte work into.

Mate you are exactly right and its about having the resources of the club as well as they have all the drawing power. We all work fulltime and it also needs to remain viable to our time commitments as well. I honestly don't think this is something any of us have the time to be doing every week. Many are probably glad I'm involved with this group as I have barely had time to post outside of this thread in the last 3 weeks lol.

So far we have ran one event, an event that I am very proud of but it is still just one successful event and a couple of more events in the early planning stages so it is still very early days.

Round 5 is the club's members appreciation round which is why they are planning the event at the Sackville Hotel which is shaping as being an awesome event as well.

I will also say I value your feedback and contribution to the discussion as it keeps the conversation flowing and gives another perspective.

I think also, the club is in a different place now compared to a few years ago. When the club started turning a profit they could re-invest the money into staff and club capabilities, which they simply may not have been able to support in previous years.

Like the forwards in a game, the club needs the stable platform - finances, management, sponsorship, coach - before they can try the fancy stuff out wide.

No, but you need club staff that have time and ability to vet and then support such an event.

Tigers didn't send along Walters and Blore because we asked nicely, they sent those players after we had 6 months of meetings, proposals and follow-ups with them. Shawn Blore was confirmed available about 5 days before the event.

Good idea - terrible name. The Ambush - show your stripes? Seriously? sounds like marketing done by a 10 year old.

The Streak. Show your scars.

Not sure how many would turn up to that though.

Seriously, is there anything on this forum that is immune from knocking?

What a great initiative. Super well done to all involved.

Like I said, excellent work and thanks for the explanation.

All suggestions are welcome..

If it builds the momentum like we hope then the events will build themselves and like minded people will get together to support the Wests Tigers regardless..

Mate, don't take it as a kick in the guts, it really was just a matter of timing, luck and circumstance. We are coming at this from the same position as you in trying to build that community. I know a lot of people appreciated the effort and work that you put in.

You don't need money to allow injured players attend a fan event in the leagues club next door to the ground.

6 months of meetings to allow a player meet some fans. No time wasting there Wests.

You know that is not the case ..the player/s are the final piece in the planning of an event subject to availability..it is actually easier to get access to a player for an away game than a home game where the expectation is the player injured or reserve attend the home game with the team..

No doubt. I was just replying to jirsker's suggestion that it was previously a money issue. I'm very happy things have changed in the club and they have worked hard with you guys to make this happen. Effort in engaging the fans has made that happen, not money.

Once again, congrats to all involved.

Please don't pretend to be telling me what has helped The Ambush gain some traction with the club, I'm there at every meeting.
