Maybe all the fans of the other clubs that live on the GC should support the Titans

Well Hobbo maybe if the clubs and the NRL started looking at memberships as a whole instead solely at a club level the Titans would have greater numbers at games producing atmosphere , spending more on catering and overall making becoming Titans members a better option

Last year I reckon there were as many WT fans as Titans fans at the game

Then the money raised by memberships could be shared across the board as a percentage of crowd numbers

This isn't the EPL ,NFL etc ,and while we compete with two other major football codes we will never generate the numbers that they do and the rivalries that they do

You would increase memberships by 15-20% I reckon by doing this

Waiting for the idea yet again to get shot down :brick:

I do agree that a Rugby League side here on the Gold Coast just does not work as with previous sides like the Chargers , Giants and Seagulls is the proof in the pudding .
People up here love the Gold Coast Suns , there AFL mad up here .
Even with the Soccer side Gold Coast United a couple of years ago that folded it just doesn't work , i struggle to pin point it at times .
Is it the Beaches the supporters would rather be during Day games ? or hitting the night spots at Night? i really don't know why they don't turn up .
Let me tell you during the Season , Radio Station 90.9 Sea FM are always giving out free tickets to a Titans game during the Week , not just 2 tickets ? PLENTY tickets.
I do believe another side towards Ipswich or in Brisbane would work there is enough Population up that way just not on the Gold Coast . I hate to admit it :bawling

You're right every team has failed on the Gold Coast . People aren't up their to watch the footy , they prefer washed out beaches , run down theme parks and fast food takeaway's every 50 meters .

The NRL are pissing money up the wall with their continued support of a team up there IMO .

 , if only you knew why Men have to wear Sunny's up here all the time   the glare from the Sun is to much at times .

hobbo would rather pay Tolls and still wait 1 hour and 1/2 to get home from the City

Men don't wear sunny's . Men wear speedos , but with your package , I'd say you'd need to cover up everything !!

I'd rather live 50 mins from Campbelltown / 45 mins to ANZ & 60 mins to Leichhardt , than be a one game band wagoner

We all know you're a closet Titans supporter !!

I just want to be like Jeckel :bawling

That's another problem with Qld sports fans

We are loyal people to the core

That's why clubs are failing in SEQ

They are loyal to their sides

Bloody hell I could of supported the Broncos when they 1st came in , I knew half the side

We need another side in SEQ or the Broncos will just dominate

It may well be the finish or the end of The Gold Coast Titans Franchise like the Chargers Giants an Seagulls before them…...but Smith has been on record numerous times saying how important the area is for the NRL and it's strategic plan.....

They will just reload the deck chairs on the Titanic...

Wow …what a surprise...NRL takes ownership...

Get those deck-chairs ready Mr Smith... :unamused:

Im not sure where all these AFL mad people are hiding up here, (As I said in a different thread,)The AFL is pouring masses of money into the Suns for very little success , a la The Big Karmichael Hunt Stunt. Which also sucked up an enormous pile of money, for complete failure on the field.
And now will again put the microscope on the afl's drug policies. Remember he was a Suns player when this all happened.(even though the Afl is keeping very invisible about this)
I can only speak about the Northern end of the Coast, But there are just as many, if not more ,AFL tickets handed out , especially through Schools.
On this end of the Coast and At every session of Ozkick , there's heaps of free tickets handed out , And you dont even have to ring a radio station to get as many as you want,
In My opinion The NRL Should have been giving out MORE tickets than they have been doing.
Whats happens to the Suns when Headquarters takes away the money stream , ,and all the extra benefits that they now give the club, dries up ?
If the Suns have to survive on there own here, dont be surprised, if they go the Same way as The Bears . Either Move or Die.
Not many new teams are handed the No1 Footballer in their Code as a starting up present(as the Suns were with Ablett),
I'm sure that if the League Made Greg Inglis move to the original Titans , they would have had an even better Start than they did .
Even now you will see a lot more Titans Jumpers on the kids here , than Suns jumpers.. And the Junior League is Thriving, with huge numbers of kids involved

The previous management has been a disaster for the club, and the new management and new Coach are just what was needed, and if the NRL start to support them in this area, I dont think that there is any reason that they wont build up again
Sitting in the Hot sun on a game early in the season is not fun
More night games are definetly needed, but NOT Saturday nights,
Fridays are what is needed…...Oooops, Sorry...That 's right The Broncos have
Dibs on all the Friday nights up this Way, Dont They????

Look GCT I reckon it has to be Ipswich

You need to break that Brisbane identity crisis and Brisvegasians and Ipswichites hate each other with a passion

Ipswich is growing madly population wise and won't compete with AFL or Union

They could set up one of 4 or 5 high schools with a junior feeder side like many sides do

All the great Ipswich superstars of the past and present , can't go wrong

Massive allotment of land they could use right near the centre of town for a stadium

Yeah there is plenty of Victorians up this way and you don't blame them , the Weather is terrible down there .
AFL is a sport played Australia wide , Queensland , N.S.W , Victoria , Adelaide , Perth ….it's massive

I can see your point Hap. And have no problem with a team up that way
But so many mistakes have been made here since they first had a team , that I will be interested in seeing how things go with direct NRL intervention.
I think that one of the major problems is where they were based in the beginning. The biggest population area on the Coast is on the Northern end and there was genuine interest when it was announced recently that they were moving their base to COOMERA . But that was now changed.
The juniors on the Coast are enormous between Burleigh , to as far North as Ormeau .
Helensvale is probably the biggest Club here by a big margin.
The last two years has had Coomera and Ormeau Start new clubs only a couple of klilometers away.
This hardly made a ripple in numbers at H/vale and their numbers are already back , or higher, than the previous levels. As well, the other GC clubs are also doing well
And the two new clubs are steaming ahead.
Sydney clubs would kill for the numbers here, as would AFL and other sports.
If the Titans get their act together, the future as far as players go is very strong
As someone who has had a coaching connection with Two of the Northern clubs over the last 20 years. I'm hoping that withstrong leadership , and a serious effort from the NRL,( and the realisation that the Broncos do not have a Divine Right to have their every selfish whim granted). The club will not only survive, but will be a success.
