The best advice Teddy should have followed.

I was watching a footy show on Fox a month or so ago (sorry, can't remember which one) and it had Gordon Tallis talking to JT. His advice was…

"Just remember, your manager works for you. Not the other way around. YOU tell HIM where you want to play, and it's his job to get you the best money that he can. If you want to stay with the Tigers, stay. Your manager can set up the deal".

Great advice.

Clearly, James didn't listen. He admitted to be very uneasy about the decision to join the Raiders and, as we know, backflipped on the deal (yippee!).

Gotta say, tho, Gordie's advice was spot on at the time.

gordie can be such a tool sometimes, esp with qld bias but overall he gives good, honest and at times tough feedback.

Player managers are one of the lowest life forms on earth. One of the few types of species along with cockroaches that would survive a nuclear blast.

Player managers can be a players worst enemy…Look how Tauber stuffed Benji and Moltzens careers.

if I were Tedesco I'd be looking for a new manager!, Ayoub comes across as a real tool.

As Gordie said, managers work FOR the player. But we forget that they get a decent percentage of every deal they make for that player. Therefore, they have a lot of rea$on$ for persuading the player one way or the other.

He is the MAN. Everyone makes a mistake, but a real MAN admits his mistake. Tesdeco has made the wrong call in joining Canberra. He has pulled out of the deal. Imagine he has to carry the whole Canberra team which is not fair to him. If he does not deliver, he will be blame for any failure. I was in the position before, being paid a handsome some to move to another company, unfortuantely the deal did not work out and I was punished for it. I found it was just too late and too big a problem to fix things. I had been warned about it but did not take heed. Tedesco did the right thing, by making the decision now, he will not suffer what I had to go through before, he is the MAN. Tedesco made the right move in staying. He blends in well with the existing players, with the premiership as the sole motive, he has an opportunity in making his dream come through. The West Tigers have a good chance of making the finals this year and a direction to the premiership.

It used to be that a mans word was his bond, not so much these days

Maybe once. But not in NRL. Contracted players been shipped to other clubs, players doing the wrong thing so the can go to other clubs, players asking for releases.

I know a player only has so much time in there sporting life. And the should be able to make as much money as they can.

But I think a lot of problems in this game isn't about a MAN's word. It's about the money and/or the money focus. The blood swet and tear has gone out of the passion for the team and the game.

The exception to this would be the SOO 1 this year. … WOW. Footy at its best.

Easy for Thurston and Gordie to tell the manager to get top dollar where they want to play, not everyone gets to be Gordie or Thurston and make demands that will be met, most players have a level of give and take, they have to weigh up money, opportunity, lifestyle and all other things.
