The Dawning of a New Age

It's no secret that this year we have bad more than our fair share of injuries. One positive to this is that it has given us the chance to blood some young guys that may not have otherwise played and they have done an admirable job.
Today we saw the debut of Luke Brooks and all I can say is WOW. I believe him to be the missing piece of the puzzle. Throw Mitch Moses in there with him in the future and we are looking like a high quality side.
I was also impressed with young guys such as Tedesco, Simona, Nofoaluma, Seumanufagai, Murdoch and Brown. Most of all though how good is Curtis Sironen going to be!
This was a very special game. We saw the coming if age of a squad with much promise. The thing I love most about this side is that it is home grown talent. We haven't needed to poach opposition superstars and juniors. We have blooded our own
2014 onwards is looking very bright indeed. We have endured a poor season but perhaps long term it hasn't been a bad thing. The average age of our squad next year is about 23\. These guys have big futures ahead of them and its a great time to be a Wests Tigers fan.

whilst one game does not make a season, its a shame these performances were not more consistent.
as for the dis-appointing season that we have witnessed, yes the changing of the guard looks promising. :sunglasses:
hopefully the footy gods will smile on us next season when injuries are involved. 😛ray:

I reckon we have a lot to look up too.

1\. Tedesco - I think he is learning and has the ability to be a gun player.
2\. Sironen - this kid to me is special. He is busting the line consistently and he can ball play as well.
3\. Brooks - I reckon he might be a good halfback.
4\. Simona/Nofo/ Koro/etc - they look good,
5, Ava & Sue & possibly Brown & possibly more - I think we have good young forwards coming through.
6\. BMM - I think he has turned the corner. I still think he has more to go but I think with him and Sirro we have some beasts in the backrow.

LOL thanks for the laugh…..

Agree 100%. We have the best youngsters in the NRL. It could be the start of a great period for the club.

Add Moses to the above list as well as a few other 20's plus a pretty good Balmain U18 side and from what I saw this morning on Fox there is some very good talent in the Keebra side, I think the centre in that side may even play NRL next year.

The club has a lot to look forward too. You can't really complain about our junior recruitment.

Lets hope with all the upheaval at the club that nothing is changed to our junior development team as it is and has been for a long while top notch.

Whilst I'm wary of getting carried away - St George were woeful today - there were things shown by a few of the young guys that really made me happy.

1\. Tedesco's try-saver: Superb fullback play. Shows a lot of thought and perfect execution to pull off
2\. Brooks' kick chase: In the 2nd half Brooks put through a grubber about 15-20m out when nothing was happening, chased through and nabbed Nightingale in goal to get a repeat set. Lovely to see
3\. Ava's no frills runs: A few of our forwards have bee guilty of trying to push an offload when it's not on, but Ava knows one way only and that's to hit the line hard. It shows by the fact he always gets an extra 5m after hitting the line
4\. Tedesco's support play: He was there to cover several offloads and got away a few times
5\. Simona's speed and footwork: He will beat defenders for years to come

Today has hopefully given us a sneak peek at the future of the WT

Its scary to think we could almost field a starting 13 next year with our own local juniors. Not many teams can do that

Five players from today are still eligible for U20s - Teddy, Siro, Nofa, Brooks and Brown. Others like Sue, Buchanan and Luani only graduated last year.

I am looking forward to see more of Bayley Sironen, Paul Simona and young Woods though…

There are a lot of kids coming through...

It is a good sign.

Now we have to work out how to keep them all.

The thing is you don't want to overdo it. Give it some time.

Teddy, Sirro and Noafoluma are not eligble for NYC

Why is that they are all under 20?

id say its because they havent played enough NYC games to qualify…

So you mean they are not eligible for the finals. That very different to what the poster meant when he said they were eligible for NYC.

All good and I certainly agree… but I beseech this forum.... lets let the kids grow. If we sit like a sad bunch of vultures and start trashing every error, penalty etc. we will contribute to our own demise. GO TIGERS!
