I'll admit it's not half as hilarious as calling for the coach to be sacked when we've won 7 of our last 11.

No i take it back , your right this thread is huge, going from 2nd worsrt to 4th worst defence deserves recognition especially for the main man taylor lol. The following is something a very smart man was quoted:

"**_We've got to get our defence. If we want to play in the semi-finals you've got to improve the defence._**

He also said :

"**_We finished sixth in attack last year but we didn't play in the semi-finals. A lot of teams that finished in the top eight in attack who didn't play in the semi-finals. Why? Because they didn't defend well enough. We need to improve that._**

Guess who?? Yes Mr Taylor himself, our so called defence guru. Your right 7/11 is great, imagine what we could have done with someone who can coach. But i bet you love it when Lovett goes to centre, Rankin to dummy half, while Cherrington is watching from the sideline as 18th man. Hopefully Farah and Jt are not here next year.

Taylor will be. Can't say the same for Farah.

Well… it's an improvement, albeit a small one. At least it's heading in the right direction.

But that right side is still diabolical at times. Listening to commentators on TV and radio, there are several theories. Space between defenders, inside players not pushing out hard enough to the edge to help number up, outside defenders not being on the same page... Maybe it's all of the above?!

I know footy players are not always the sharpest tools in the shed, but sometimes it seems that our RHS players are just not coachable. Kidwell seems to escape so much criticism, I'd love to hear what he does that give the powers confidence in him.

We've gone from 2nd worse to 4th worse in defence

It's a scramble between VonGreenValley and GNR to post this revelation.

No it’s not

Will you lot stop being so childish, every time you need act like the schoolyard bullies and can’t resist making every thread a Taylor slanging match and bombard us with your snide remarks, I personally am really fed up with it and have better things to do than scroll through the endless rubbish you post, please just stick to the topic and grow up.

I honestly don't care how how our defence is so long as we score more points that the opposition. I think our right side matches exactly the way I view the situation. That side gets scored on a lot but they offer so much offensively.

I blame all the drama over defence on JT and his stupid comments when he firstly got here. You can't just play defence and you can't just play offence. As soon as we changed our style to having a go when we had the ball we've improved significantly.

You're really missing the neg rep feature aren't you

Take the Canberra result out, or even halve it, and the defence has improved relative to last season. Prior to the Canberra match, the points differential was standing at -9\. Since that Canberra result the team has completed the following (11 matches):

F: 245 (22.2 pts per match)
A: 241 (21.9 pts per match)

In reality, the team has been conceding as much as it scores all season (excluding the Canberra result), the classic outcome for a team sitting around 8th position. That is a fair assessment of where the team is placed in both defence and attack - right in the middle.

Should they be higher? Maybe, but no one else thought they would be this high on the ladder this late in the season. One thing is for sure, they are certainly sitting higher than they were this time last year (15th on f/a). It's also becoming apparent that the team and the whole club for that matter still have plenty more upside.

A good way to look at the situation, and definitely a large improvement on last year already. We have the most upside in the comp imo, and we're already not doing too badly..

Yeah it's so hilarious

Its also yet another improvement in the team which a few here seem unwilling to grasp

You think this is pathetic. Just wait till we lose.

Was that improvement over the last two weeks.

It has been for the points diff. Moses has grown another leg too. These last two games we got ourselves in positions where last yr we would have lost. These two games showed we can hold our nerve when in front.

Something else which hasn't been mentioned too much is how the Dragons almost rolled a side playing for a spot in the top 4\. They gave the Dogs a tougher test than they gave us.

If we keep teams to less than 10 pts a game grom here on in… we will win more than we lose

If we score 30 points or more from here on in we will win more than we lose. I'm not trying to be slack but it's all meaningless. It comes down to playing good positive footy which includes defence and attack.

It's no Myth….defensively we are not where we need to be to play those big games at the end of the year IMO.

Many are looking at recent games at the Points scored against us , but lets get deeper into it and lets see what players were missing in opposition sides and players missing for us.....

Will go back 7 Rounds or so , cause that's been our biggest improvement in terms of getting 2 Competition Points

Round 13 : we played the Roosters ( away )
Players missing for the Roosters are as follows : Shaun Kenny Dowall , Mitchell Pearce , Boyd Cordner
Players missing for us : Jordan Rankin , Tim Grant , Robbie Farah
We lost 32-18, 32 Points scored against

Round 14 : we played the Rabbits ( away )
Players missing for the Rabbits are as follows : John Sutton , Luke Keary
Players missing for us : Full strength
We won 30-14 , 14 Points scored against

Round 15 : Had a Bye

Round 16 : we played the Storm ( home )
Players missing for the Storm side are as follows : Cameron Munster , Billy Slater , Blake Green , Tim Glasby
Players missing for us : Robbie Farah
We lost 29-20 , 29 Points scored against

Round 17 : we played the Panthers ( home )
Players missing for the Panthers are as follows : Suaia Matagi , Sitaleki Akauola
Players missing for us : Full strength
We won 34-26 , 26 Points scored against

Round 18 : we played the Bulldogs ( away )
Players missing for the Bulldogs are as follows : David Klemmer , Josh Jackson
Players missing for us : Aaron Woods , James Tedesco , Robbie Farah
We lost 32-22 , 32 Points scored against

Round 19 : Had a Bye

Round 20 : we played the Dragons ( Away )
Players missing for the Dragons are as follows : Josh Dugan , Tim Lafai .
Players missing for us : Robbie Farah
We won 12-25 , 12 Points scored against

Round 21 : we played the Eels ( Away )
Players missing for the Eels are as follows : Radradra , Jennings , Corey Norman , Beau Scott , Manu Ma'u
Players missing for us : Robbie Farah
We won 8-23 , 8 Points scored against

So our last 7 Games we have had an Average of : 22 Points scored against.

Have we improved ? you be the judge of the Quailty of our Opponents and what players were missing .

This Weekend we will see what we are made of defensively but an Average of 22 Points per game scored against is still way to much.

You can see an improvement … Compared to the start of the year simply by watching our games.
Attitude can't be gauged by stats

Looking at the table, i was surprised to see that we aren't ranked 2nd last like a lot like to claim. There are several teams who have conceded more points than us. Besides our right edge, our defence gets a really bad rap imo.

A lot of people have been claiming our defence was 2nd worst in the comp and it was until this round lol. Don't make out people on the forum have been making stats up.

As someone else said, take out that 60 point loss and the stats don't look nearly as bad.

Lol the teams worse than us in D are Newcastle, Goosters and Souffs hardly an achievement with how their seasons are going

Lucky we can score points

The roosters are 3 points worse than us, they are starting to click now so that might change.
