The Defensive Myth

Not every coach is Craig Bellamy. If it were that easy you wouldn't have single Bellamy out because it would be common place among all coaches.

Ok then I'll name more coaches than Bellamy that are getting results out of average players if you want me to. What about what Ricky Stuart has done at Canberra? Neil Henry and Anthony Griffin have a fair few average players too but they seem to be getting results from their players in defence… **But you just carry on beating JT's drum GNR it's becoming hilarious now the way you put spin on things just like your hero JT does.**

This is ironic considering you were praising TT earlier for conversing like an adult.

As for other coaches. Stuart and Griffin have superior playing lists, and Stuart has coached his side to a premiership. As for Henry, for all the fantastic work he's done at the Titans he's only won one more game than Taylor. Yet he's coach of the year and Taylor should be sacked?

Whether they have superior rosters or not the fact is they have average players in their squads that they have turned into handy first graders. Just a question for you.. Why do you back JT so strongly when someone criticises him?? Is it because of your hatred for Farah as that's what it's starting to look like.

Tigermac you hit the nail on the head. I was thinking about it last night, they hate Farah so much that any criticism of JT is a chance to get back at him for dropping farah. But as youve said and ive said and many others have said its time for farah to move on. But there is no point arguing with these guys, there are so straight and narrow minded that they just go from arguing from one person the next.

Look at Adam Blair. Killed it last night.
Just goes to show our club lacked any sort of structure in defence.
It's not a coincidence that he kills it at well structured clubs and bludged with us.
He didn't know his role and was lost out there.
JT has us in the right path finally.

Years of being a divided club at board level & ongoing divisions between players, officials and coaching staff over time is now producing antagonistically divided supporters! On field, there is often no unity of thought, no cohesion in defence or attack and we wonder why we are always a bog average team! The players can all say that nothing going on off the field affects them in any way, until they are blue in the face, but their perpetual inconsistency and fragile mentality on the field proves otherwise.

It's simple - united we stand, divided we fall. WT hasn't been a united club for years, on or off the field, and it's getting worse! Once upon a time, at least the fans were united - now this place has just turned into thread after thread of people trying to think up witty ways to hang crap on each other! It's deflating really :frowning:

Spot on Flip

I often wonder what its like to support a club with one fan base…didnt have the net during the Magpies days, pre JV

This place recently is the worst ive seen it in the 12 odd years ive been a member here

Agree Ink, the RF v JT debate has split our supporter base.

It wasn't too good in the latter Sheens years with many posts about poor team selections favourite players but this issue has gone ballistic. It's turned into a real Ford v Holden argument where people won't listen to logic. It is too emotional and anyone trying to explain any point is subject to others vitriol.

I don't get on here as often as I did because it is all just rehashed rubbish.

That's why they both need to be moved on.

Agree 100%. Its the only way to bring the club together. If either are here next year, the division will remain.

Taylor deserves at least one season without Robbie Farah and the team he wants. One player can't take the coach out with just because he isn't picked.

If Taylor goes, who comes in?. Serious question.

Without being in the know I'm sure there would be candidates to take his place. It's not like we haven't had to start again with a new coach before. Farah hasn't played many games this year anyway and still we'll miss out on finals footy.

Getting rid of Taylor now is terrible idea. It sets the mood for a mediocre coach to come in again.
I'm not saying to renew JT but give him his season with the team he wants with no distractions. We need to show stability to attract a decent coach and players in the future.

Then the next coach will come in 2018 with a clean cap.

I dont think a new coach will set us back. Our biggest problem is still defence. We are getting a new defensive coach with most likely new techniques and structures. We are currently 2nd last in defence.

Candidates are Toovey and Cleary. Id happily take either.

Well I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree on this, I just want to watch the boys play finals footy however that is achieved

Have some faith.
We were never going to be world beaters in 2 seasons.
Look at the mess.

Exactly. It's not like the job has long term prospects.
You'll get a season if the captain let's you.

Who knows? At the end of the day it all comes down to our management. If they are happy with JT then they wouldnt be in the market looking. If they arent happy with JT then who knows who they are talking too or negotiating with behind the scenes. Youd love to be a fly in pascoes office right now lol.

Yes I agree, that's only fair. I don't think there is anyone of note available out there at the moment. I wanted Griffin before we ended up signing Taylor, but Penrith were smart enough to grab him and they won't be letting him go in a hurry.

It would be interesting to see how the team, under Taylor, aims up without the RF/JT feud distraction, but knowing our lot there will end up being some other drama come to the surface, at some stage, to railroad our season :unamused:

Steve Folkes please come back to us! 😛ray:

I think the original post is actually correct.

We are a defensive myth.

116 conceded in our last 3 games at 38.5 a game with the season on the line.

15th defensively with over 600 points coughed up at over 24 per game.

It was all JT wanted to talk about and be judged on when he came into the club.

He was very bullish about fixing it and how past coaches of Wests Tigers had poor defensive systems and were soft.

@GNR4LIFE said:
Looking at the table, i was surprised to see that we aren't ranked 2nd last like a lot like to claim. There are several teams who have conceded more points than us. Besides our right edge, our defence gets a really bad rap imo.

Just an update for GNR,
We are now safely back in the comfy position of being the second Worst defence in the NRL ,
What would we do without The Knights.

He didn't want to talk about it at the Presser yesterday.
