The halves problem

I am looking forward to having an actual halfback on the field, and hope that Madden can make a good enough go of it to make a genuine claim for the spot, short or long term.

Doueihi has really picked up his game, both defensively and effort wise in general as shown again against the cows, but he still isn't a half that can run an edge consistently, let alone a team for mine.

I’m hoping Luai and Latu are the halves pairing going forward. From the small amount of game time I’ve seen from Latu, he’s and out and out halfback and a really good one. Doueihi is the perfect fit to be a ball playing lock, imo. He has the size and the skills. I’m hoping Benji will go with this, of course it all depends on if Latu can ever actually stay on the field for more than 10 minutes.
When Did he show himself to be a great 7? I’m seeing a good 6 or 13. However I hope your are right and I’m wrong

I'm really intrigued to see a 6 Latu Fainu & 7 Jock Madden combination once Latu is match fit.

This is probably the most traditional of halves combos we could put out in terms of the skills & assets they bring to each position with Latu on his preferred left side & Jock right. Jock's game management to free up Latu's running game & ball playing skills.

A Samuela and Latu edge, I like it and hope that the younger gets a run of games to show his wares.

Clbnt disagree more
He's a highly paid 1st grader, and we need him to front up assuming he's fit
What are we saving him for..the GF?
Give the Warriors a test..not ready to fold my cards in round 4
So it's Madden and Latu in the halves, makasini and Herbert in the centres..
And we've got a reasonable footy team with ppl playing in their familiar positions
Winning team..will give it a crack

A brittle kid will not change the outcome of that game , he could be on twice as much ,no need to be rushed back .
Needle up Jarome

Fair enough
Hope is poo. So Murray is my man and attempt to play Api for 80.
So,

Why don't we have the next NRL hooker wanting to play here?

Api clearly is one of the best 9's in the comp. We surely can bring Farah in to do some training if someone wanted.

I hear Owen Pattie mentioned, but why aren't more 9's knocking our door down to play here?

If he is fit, it has to be Latu Fainu at 6. If nothing else, it will stiffen our defense. Tannah Boyd is playing well so it might be a useful strategy to give Latu the job of trying to put him off his game by smashing him with some hard front on tackles. It might also be very good for the Tigers, in the long run, if he and Jock get some extended time together to develop their combinations and increase their confidence as first graders. The way they are playing, forwards will definitely lay a platform for them.

Haywood looks like the long-term option, but he’s not ready for week-to-week NRL yet. You’re probably looking at 24 months before he is ready.

That leaves a gap in the meantime. Even when he does come in, you still need a solid backup or a bench hooker who can actually contribute.

The game is too quick now to carry a hooker who just passes. Both players in the rotation need to be a threat out of dummy half. I don't think Hope is that guy.

When Api goes off, we lose a lot. The cheap metres, cheap six agains when he targets lazy markers, the pressure around the ruck all drops away.

Substituting him with someone like Hope, who just shovels the ball on, isn’t the answer. We need someone who can run, keep the defence honest, and keep the attack moving at high speed at the back end of a game.

This game is going to be tuff , it would have been tuff with AD and Luai in but with them out it’s much harder , We should not play any injured players like Latu, if he needs a couple more weeks or come in via cup we should do that , play fit players in position so we give our team a chance , Play a centre at centre , play jock in his best spot , if Andrew’s is next up play him it’s experience he needs , I would run Macca on left wing same as he played against panthers and Skelton on right , Hebert and Turuva in the middle , Bunty is a must as it’s his old club and has a point to prove , he could be the difference as he was not wanted by warriors , muscle up take them head on and wear them down , we have strike on edges with Sam F and KPP. Use them , long kicks to corners and pin them down , make them work to get out of their red zone , just keep turning them around , I don’t care if we win 8-6 turn them around and wear them down , just my rant .

Our run isn’t great for the next six rounds - Warriors, Eels, Knights, Broncos, Raiders, and Sharks.

It looks like it’ll be Jock and Javon in the halves next week. Fingers crossed it turns into a surprise, maybe a miracle combination...

No thanks, Farah could start a fight in an empty room. Love the guy but he's too antagonistic for his own good and the good of our club.

Keeps a photo on his desk of him drinking alone up on the grandstand after a game we lost that he didn't even play in. I just find that weird to take pride in that when all that drama around that time did so much damage to our club that we still feel the effects of today.

Bit of a strange person and I am really happy he's out of the picture. Getting physical with with David Furner was where I drew the line with him as a coach or a leader.
