The lunch

I was listening to the daily telegraph rugby league podcast yesterday (because I had listened to everthing els first this was a last resort) and it turns out buzz had attended a lunch with Tim sheens Justin Pascoe and Madge I’m not sure what other media heads were there but this is a good move from the club buzz was talking positively about the club for the first time in a long time. The club must see the problem of constantly getting bashed in the media and they must be trying to do something about it good to see

Buzz would have been on the free grog for a few hours so he is not going to be critical. He will probably want a free lunch/booze every week at the clubs expense

Good to see the club getting on the front foot with some heavy hitters in the media. We seem to have no friends in the media at the moment. Even so called “club legends” continue to sink the boot in

As I recall Sheens had Rothfield out at the new COE a few months ago for a chat and, as I recall, Rothfield was most impressed. Better to try and get the NRL media peanut gallery onside if at all possible but you can never rule out the occasional anti Tigers rant from the likes of Rothfield, Crawley, Hooper and the several others who don't seem very fond of our club

It takes alot for Buzz to give compliments/not slagging the Tigers.
It's a very smart approach, if you have the media onside it will only generate more corp $$ and players will look at us differently. It's early days.
I can't see the media leaving us alone if we start the season poorly however, but this at least takes the pressure off us early on.

It was actually a good episode.
Interesting topic was the 5 leadership/captains.
Madge has done it before at Souths and Wigan, Ivan has done it, nothing new.
It can be successful if players around the club are walking around in circles at training and under the posts. Leadership throughout the whole team is important and making every individual being accountable.
Another gripe is playing home games at CS, LO, BW, ANZ, SUNCORP and Tamworth is ludicrous and will further erode whatever club culture is left.
The club is showing signs of progress. Pascoe is attaining success in the front office, like or hate his hairdos.
The introduction of Sheens, Kimmorley and assistant coaches as well as some astute signings are promising.
P.S.

Definitely took a while to get use to buzz not bagging us.

Cheers, I'm using free podbeam,
thanks mate, just letting other members know if they can't get it. 👍

Interesting pod. I liked the comment about rookies (walker/Walsh) starting out at strong clubs verse struggling clubs. Apparently it was mentioned at this WT lunch. Be nice to know how the club plans to supplement it’s youth strategy.

Think that's BS rookies can't do well at WT. Look at Laurie and Stefano.
