The missing 70 seconds

The time wasn’t lost by the ref. He blew a penalty and shortly afterwards time had to be stopped for an injury. Brooks had set up and was ready to take the kick. Time goes back on when play commences, in this instance when Brooks was starting the kick.

The time could have been taken off the clock by Brooks not being ready to kick, Brooks adjusting the ball on the tee, taking a tap and playing on.
Complain to ref the ball is flat, make him stop start. Still should have kicked for touch, then complain the next ball needs the sweat wiped off. Have the first ball kicked back on to have 2 balls on the field. 🤪

The ref didn't signal time back on until he started to move into the kick.... He coulda stayed there 25 minutes wouldn't have made any difference
Should of faked a kick like Lattrell did last night. Would have made the ref start the clock, then we could have taken our 90 seconds to set up the kick again.

As for those saying he shouldn't have taken the 2, you'd expect your team to defend 3 minutes if you've held them tryless for 77 minutes.
You would if “your team” was any team other than the Tigers.

Surely I’m not the only one that thought ‘they’ll still manage to lose from here’ after that penalty goal?

We really lack any gamesmanship. When Brooks hit that guy high with a minute to go. Someone should have hit the deck with an injury to take all momentum out of the game. Trainer should be getting in the way etc. anything to stop the flow.

and what difference would that make?
Time is OFF
I think the point is that he shouldn’t have even set up for the kick until time was on.
Why place the ball when it’s time off?
Just stand there with it in your hands or leave it on the ground until he calls time on.

Too funny 😂
I fail to see how Brooks lost us this game.
He did everything to keep us in the game, scored all of the Tigers points.
An experienced player after catching that cannoned ball off the post would have gone to ground with it. But what’s done is done. We move on.

Just as an aside, given the detail of the "lost seconds" around the kick etc - is there anything being done by the club to get an explanation from NRL H/Q?
Our mob are too weak to say too much publicly but I am sure that they quietly talk to the NRL about it, get spun a story and go away with their tail between their legs.

On occasions the NRL will come out and admit that there was an error and say sorry but that is not much consolation when 2 competition points have been lost because of incompetance or what is perceived as bias by match officials.

the ref doesn’t call time on until the kicker moves towards the ball.

You're forgetting it's the tigers. You can have 2 balls on the field in our games, remember rankin at Newcastle. In hindsight one of the most farcical things I've ever seen
