Storm followed by Souths will show what a divide there is between the top eight and the bottom eight.

We have to be realistic and accept that we could be beaten by 50 in each game......that's how big the divide is.

We've won 4 of last 10 against both Storm and Rabbits, so we match up alright even when we aren't in finals contention. By comparion we are 1 of the last 10 against Parramatta and Roosters.

The Roosters one is particularly horrendous - we've only won 2 of the past 21 against Roosters, all the way back to and including 2010. Those two years we made the finals, we only beat Roosters 1/5 attempts.

IMHO souffs are beatable at leichardt. For whatever reason that I could never work out we are Melbourne's bogey team, but they have a premiership to win. I don't see a win but I think we will compete

Well I certainly don't expect us to win either of the next two, so anything above a flogging will be a bonus. Much like I expected the Parra game to pan out.

Surely all the fans on here that got so salty the last couple of days don't actually think we are going to win these type of games this season?

Anyway, as long as the team mostly shows some passion and gives us a few things to cheer about (which they did on Sunday IMO) I'll be all good with it.

Its not even the top 8 - at best its top 6 - the dragons and cowboys are no better than we are but sit at 7 and 8. The comp is so lopsided its hardly worth watching. And then the joke Vlandys brings in all these rules that only widens the gap. I only watch the Tigers games now and quite often i turn them off in disgust when we start getting lapped with 6 agains and 12 men on the field - NRL has become a joke.

Rabbitohs are pretenders; I think we’re a decent shot of beating them. We usually step up against the Storm, but they are out of our league, so I’m expecting a closer-than-expected loss.

They lost to the Panthers 56-12, and the Storm 50-0; they are not in the same class. Having said that, I would love to be a finals-regular like Souths.

Your last sentence sums it up - NRL darlings, pride of the league, unca wayne the guru as coach - no way they miss the 8.

Yea i agree - but the funny thing is looking at the rest of the season and the quality of the bottom 10 teams and who they play we are actually a chance of making the 8. Says a lot for the quality of the NRL.

It's really weird but I don't know what to expect against the Storm? Our record is not too bad against them as opposed to Parramatta where it's just ground hog day every time. The usual bad calls, nothing goes our way, Moses Mitchell and Gutherson play out of their skin. Saying that, I don't expect us to beat the Storm but maybe stay in the contest a little longer.

We all remember that time when we lose against storm cause if mahe lol

one thing i will say

last few weeks melbourne have had really slow starts to games, often looking quite clunky. then usually after 20-25 minutes the wear down the other team and get on with the job

we'll know in the first 20 if we're up for the fight or not

if they score in the first 20, expect them to run away with it, if not, we could be in it

we'll beat souths. Melbourne will crush us. then we'll lose a couple of tight ones against the Sharks and Warriors on the run home and that will sign our death warrant
