The No 1. in round 1

My question to the forum is :

Who are the serious contenders for the starting fullback role at WTs ?

Who will wear number 1 on thier back in round 1 ? and why?

For me the contenders are James Tedesco and Mitch Brown. It apears that Joel Reddy , having now played in the centers for BRET , is going to be a centre or backrower for WTs . Humble is a squad player , good for depth and cover if and when injuries happen .

IMO James Tedesco the exciting up and comer and Mitch Brown the guy who has proven he has all the abilities , but has not had the opertunity will fight it out .
Both will be given time at FB in trials , and the way that they perform will decide what happens in round 1.

IMO Mitch Brown should wear the No 1 in round 1 .

I reckon Reddy - he played at fullback for a fair chunk of the trial v Wests Illawarra - Utai on the bench.

There is only 1 reason Moltzen will be wearing the 7 for Round 1, and thats if Tedesco is the Fullback…

Outside of that, and if Sheens chooses to hold Tedesco back a few weeks, Moltzen will be the Fullback and Miller will be the 7.

Brown is a handy back-up, but has no claim to start the year in NRL!

Based on media , which includes quotes from reliable sources , Moltz is playing half back this year and unless he gets injured he will be there all year . So I have excluded him from my comments about the FB for this reason .

Sheens stated in a paper that Moltz will be 7 so I guess we can exclude him from the 1\. race. If his trial form is good maybe Tedesco will earn a debut. If he's a long term option I'd rather him start in Rd1 than later in the year.

I admire your constant push for Brown Rambo, but face it, the man is no chance. Sheens proved last year he doesn't see the guy in the strongest 17\. He'd be 100 to one to get the no 1 jumper. This coming from a massive Mitch Brown fan as well

I am fairly certain that Moltzen is going to be 7 come round 1.

My understanding is that Tedesco and Humble are going for the number 1.

I however think would be highly unusual for Sheens to throw Tedesco in the deep end come round 1.

If Lote can't play round one -

I reckon we'd see something like this:

1\. Humble
2\. Ryan
3\. Lawrence
4\. Ayshford
5\. Utai - Brown would have to be 100/1 to start.
6\. Marshall
7\. Moltzen
..
..

14\. Reddy

In all honesty its not a premiership winning backline is it?

Thats what i think sheens might trot out if lote is injured.

my choices would be

1\. Brown
2\. Ryan
3\. Ayshford
4\. Reddy
5\. Lawrence - Fast, strong, with Reddy inside him will have no problems adjusting temporarily.
6\. Marshall
7\. Moltzen

My mates a parra supporter and was gutted humble left he rated him highly however I never payed attention to him to see if he was any good? Brown deserves a shot but can't see him getting it . I'd love to see tesesco in action, never seen him play but he sounds like he will be one to watch and judging by our contenders he may be the only specialist fullback!?

I am a big Mitch Brown fan but he won't play full back. A chance on the wing whilst Lote is out.

I remember Humble played a couple of games for Parramatta when Hayne was injured and played very well.

I very quick and has ball skills.

Happy for either Humble or Tedesco to be our number 1.

Who ever performs the best during to trials so be given first shot.

Moltzen 7
Tedesco or humble to be 1 (depends on trial form )

If lote is out then utai or brown on wing

Underdog there's no chance Lawrence will start on the Wing

Reddy on the bench

All this barring injury

Tedesco and Humble are the two battling it out for the Fullback position. Moltzen is 7.

Yep, I'll roll with those choices. Provided Tedesco handles himself in the trials, he's the man IMO. He's got the natural instincts at the back, and the ballplaying skills to really make the fullback spot his own.

I like Brown and would be happy to see him at fullback, but Teddy has had a cracker of an off-season and I think he'll make the most of his chance. Haven't seen much of Humble so I'll be keen to see how he goes against the Roosters in the Foundation Cup.

Willow the only thing I would say about that is that neither of them have played even 10 NRL games - are you comfortable having a rookie take on one of the most important positions on the field?

I think we should, and will pick experience for the early rounds and that means putting Reddy or Brown there.

If we are going to pick an untried rookie I reckon we also need to have Lincoln Port in the mix - he was very impressive in the weekend trial against Wests Illawarra.

I guess the two remaining trials could very well be just that "trial" and the best person for the job could take the opportunity.

Well Helmesy, if Tedesco goes ok in the trials, and Sheens selects him for round 1, I won't be complaining. He's 5'11, 89kg, so he's not massive, but he's not so small that he's going to be thrown around all the time. He has the best support play at fullback in the club and I also believe he has the best ballplaying skills, I think he has a clear edge over Brown and Reddy in this regard.

I haven't seen Linc Port play yet, I sat a couple of seats away from him at Concord the other week, but he's the smallest of the fullback candidates and I daresay we'll see him spend the majority of the year playing for BRET.

Helmesy, Sheens let BMM debut in a semi final. He loves blooding talent and if he thinks the kid is good enough then he will debut in round 1\. But he has to prove it in a couple of trials yet.
