The No 1. in round 1

No need to carry Brown on the bench with Moltzen being able to move from the halves to anywhere in the backline…

If his trial form is good, I'd say Miller/Chisholm will be on the bench as it offers us another genuine attacking option at 14!

Well Helmesy, if Tedesco goes ok in the trials, and Sheens selects him for round 1, I won't be complaining. He's 5'11, 89kg, so he's not massive, but he's not so small that he's going to be thrown around all the time. He has the best support play at fullback in the club and I also believe he has the best ballplaying skills, I think he has a clear edge over Brown and Reddy in this regard.

I haven't seen Linc Port play yet, I sat a couple of seats away from him at Concord the other week, but he's the smallest of the fullback candidates and I daresay we'll see him spend the majority of the year playing for BRET.

Will be good to see which way Tim goes with the selection, one things for sure we're going to find out pretty soon!

No need to expect Moltzen to move anywhere in the backline when you have Reddy who can play 1-5 in a pinch and is big enough to run wide in the second row as well…

Tedesco will be fullback no matter how bad he goes sheensy is going to stick with him. Lote will not be ready until round 4.
P.s rowdy won't be playing in the trial this Saturday.

This thread seems to be going under the assumption that Moltzen will be named at 7\. I'm still hoping we see Moltzen at 1 with Miller at 7.

Cheers for the heads up Tiger99.

So hypertheticly, we will run out an inexperienced, out of form Tedesco, ahead of an experienced, in form and as safe as a bank Brown?

I don't mean to sound anti-Tedesco (I rate the kid highly), but shouldn't the fullback position go to whoever is in form throughout the trials, as it would be for any position on the side.

How do you know Brown is in form… Has he been playing all Summer???

The last time he played FB for the Tigers was in the Prelim Final in 2010...

My original post was asking a hyperthetical question in response to a post from Tiger99, stating that Tedesco will be fullback come round 1, in form or not.

If Tedesco is in form throughout the trails, then I'm more than happy for him to run out at fullback come round 1\. I just want to see our side run out with the strongest possible team, not giving positions to out of form players.

How do we know Tedesco is out of form? He's killed it at training during the off-season, but a ball has not been kicked in anger yet.

Tedesco or brown for fullback but i want to see tedesco he looks like a massive support player so its good for us cant wait for the season to kick off !!!!

Honesty won't lose you a match and brown is as honest as the day is long. Having said that honesty doesn't turn a game on its head either. Flair and attacking prowess does that. Which is what I think Tedesco will bring to the table. We need a game breaker wearing the 1 and given the opportunity I'd rate Tedesco as being able to give us more of an attacking edge from the back than Mitch Brown.

Look I don't want to feel like I'm putting Tedesco down and obviously there are heaps of people including the coach and CEO who believe he has a big future.

BUT he has only played a handful of U/20's - how many games have you guys honestly see him play in?

I don't think there's any rush to bring him in - you have to go the safer option of Brown/Reddy to start the season.

Also TigerSmurf yes BMM did make his debut in a semi, I would challenge however that there's much more scope for a young fullback to have a shocker and lose confidence (or a game) than a backrower.

Think of it this way: at least Sheens is playing a specialist fullback for a change!

Keep hoping…Fonz has played his hand and made it clear Moltzen is our preferred #7

Im with you Alex. Moltzen was hitting good form at the back end of last season at FB. Then again in saying that, i havnt seen Tedesco play so i dont know how good he is ( judging by most npeoples comments on him, id like him to be #1 with Moltzen (having the more experience at HB with Marshall than anyone else at the club ) wearing the #7\. Guess im gonna have to decide at the trial against Roosters. that will answer alot of questions.

The 7 needs to control where the team is going on the field.
Moltzen is confident to call plays and he has the 1st grade experience and that's not a go at Miller, its just a fact Miller doesn't have the experience and he still is only a teenager.

Having worked out his 7 Sheens has settled on either Humble or Tedesco for 1\. The fullback also needs to be a talker as well and Tedesco might be like Miller and a bit too quiet.

I don't think Humble is out of contention and he does have the 1st grade experience.
