The problem with dropping Benji

I think we all need to move on from Benji he's had his time and teams read him to easy Titans just let him run last week which was mostly side ways Jrey brings something different and Brooks is the best we have. A lot of people are bagging the team tonight but it must have been expected as 90% of players in the tipping comp picked the Raiders

But while Benji is fit and available and keen we need to use him ..
Brooks sucks !

haven't looked the stats yet , but virtually every handling error was made by a WT's junior

The only two I remember that weren't was when Grant threw the forward pass and that absolute insane moment when we are 5 out from the opposition side and Grant got walloped from behind when he COULDN"T FIND ONE SINGLE RUNNER

Lawrence had 1 handling error

I said last week It looked wrong dropping Benji and it hasn't paid off. Now do you bring him back? And if you do how do you face the team chopping and changing as you do? I don't think many saw Reynolds as a player who would improve our attack, and he didn't. It was noticeable also how much Brooks' performance dropped with Benji not out there running the team, really dire from him. I think if Madge doesn't succeed at the Tigers, his bumbling of Benji this week might be the first moment when players really start to question his judgement. Benji's been our best player for the last year and he gets dropped? So we fix our attitude but our attack comes unstuck, it's looking messy and team selections played a big part in that.

Reason Benji was dropped was to send a message to the whole team.
On that performance it did, but the attack was dis-joined, and have to ? some of the ref decisions tonight they seemed to be against us.
Madge will need to determine who stepped up and who still is not performing.
As for the Brooks comment he was woeful last week, and he is not leading the team around that's our biggest worry long term when Benji moves on.

However there were plenty of positives.

Benji wasn’t dropped for his attack it was for his defence... Our defence was a lot better tonight without him there.

Brooks is a running 5/8, it doesn’t matter what number he has on his back. We need an organising half that can defend. Interestingly AD took on some of the 5th tackle options tonight,. Regardless it’s clear Madge is focusing on defence before attack hence why both benji was dropped and brooks will stay put.

I think we focus on our team performances and not what happens with players on other teams, Benji will be back next week that was always the plan to see how the players responded.

When someone quotes a stat about Benji leading the league in missed tackles (which he isn't, I looked it up), that's a comparative statistic, so I put that into the proper context of what other halves in the game have been doing defensively. I think Benji will be exposed when the team is on the back foot, I don't think he's a particularly bad defender, in fact i think he usually reads the game well defensively but has not been well served by partnering with the Leuilia brothers at the start of the year.

Nofo has made to two horror errors in two weeks that basically turned the game when we led ....some advice for Nofo ...hit the line at speed ...every time you step inside ...lose momentum and becomes easy meat

And when you stood have thrown a huge right step ....you go for the corner when you were never going to score

I want every player to succeed at the WT's .....but you need to know when to hold them and when to fold them and we continue to make decisions with our juniors that always seem wrong
