The rant thread

the Coalitions's NBN plan, but stemming from that,

people who call for funding cuts to scientific research for they deem to be pointless and wasteful. Research can lead anywhere. Case in point, the electron was discovered over 100 years ago and was completely useless.

Today the entire planet is run on **electron**ics. And Studying the universe is also somehow pointless. Nevermind that MRI machines in hospitals are directly descended from particle physics, (the detectors at the LHC are basically giant MRI machines that are 40m long and 20m tall).

I hate people who try to stall, inhibit or prevent the advancement of human knowledge. So what if you don't care why the sky is blue, that knowledge will help someone, somewhere down the line to create an artificial eye

tbh i consider myself a man of science.. i've been in science my whole life and am doing health science now in uni as well.

however, i do understand where that comes from. they want more of the donations go towards reducing poverty in third world countries, better health facilities in developing countries.. stuff like that. they think that by putting more money in research and less money in other causes, people are increasing the gap between developed and developing countries (as most of this new stuff isnt available in developing countries)

although, i am neutral with this topic tbh. i think both arguements are reasonable. all of what i said above is something i had a very long discussion with my friend about and he brought it up

it's just annoying when people break the rules.
esp in a public place, they just do their own thing. no regard of the public at all.

i have a wanderers fan on fb… putting up bloody statuses every 2 seconds about how he stickerbombed this place and this other place etc etc... well guess what.. someone is gonna have to clean it up eventually.

graffiting, tossing, spitting etc. just plain dumb and annoying.

yeah i get ya, although I dont mind graffiti too much. As long as its done somewhat tastefully. The massive ones on the side of trains…piss off. and same to the bad 'tagging' But when theres like a dedicated wall you can get some really good work on em in my opinion.

The worse ones are those who do graffiti all over people's colorbond fences. They don't care that people have saved their hard earned to get them put up. They should be made to pay for them.

have a small rant. The amount of attentions calamities like the Boston bombings get. While, my heart goes out those affect it really irked me to see on ABC 24 a whole screen and live coverage with normal programming interupted for the boston bombings and then in the little bar down the bottom it says: Bomb in Iraq Killed 50 People 300 injured. That's all it got! a little message down the bottom while a few people dead in America will be headlining for days and in the news for weeks. Don't get me wrong; I feel for those people and their families and friends but its just…..i dunno. wrong or something

I'm not indifferent to helping developing nations, but I believe what separates developed nations from developing nations (at the crux of it) is scientific research. and the research that we've done is what's enabled us to help those developing nations in the first place.

I can't remember who it was who created that genetically modified corn, that wouldn't bend over itself because of it's weight. Saved millions of people from hunger and probably death as well.

This is a passionate subject for me and I keep an open mind, but I don't see any benefits in stopping.

Have to keep moving forward.

Watched something about this recently and they are saying due to Global Warming the yields have dropped off considerably

Now they are going to start going back to wild version that the found in secluded part of this particular country and it has learned to adapt to its surroundings where the GM version hasn't

Testify! This annoys me to no end. Same went with that last school shooting in the US, IIRC some nutcase cut loose with a sword/knife in China and killed some kids. When I put this to people bemoaning the US tragedy they all said they hadn't heard about it.

The grievance is more with major news networks than people themselves. People will only know what is reported.

That was the exact same point I was trying to make with the comment I made in the Boston Bombing thread

And then we had a 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Iran last night ,last time they had one this big 10000 died or never found

I get what your saying but news outlets will only report what people care about. If sky, fox etc thought they could get a viewer bump by reporting the Iraq story they would have, they know that the general population in Australia will be more aligned to a English speaking country then a Arabic. It's not a anti Muslim stance either. Think back to the total destruction and death in the Japanese tsunami . It's was widely reported I agree but play that scenario over in a English speaking country and we would have been inundated with rebuild updates, anniversary occasions…well basically what we get on the 9/11 attacks.

Actually speaking of 9/11 it annoys me that already the conspiracy theories have started on the Boston bombings. Why cant some people accept that there are nut bags in the world who want to harm people for no real reason other then they are nut bags. everything is the governments fault. Maybe the idea of a government cover up is more exciting then the truth which will probably be closer to a lone bloke who was pissed off at the local water authority snapped, googled bomb making and took his frustration on innocent people having fun.

Was Lee Harvey Oswald a lone, deranged nutcase?

The media will report whatever makes the mass populace scared enough to surrender liberties and consume items haevily invested in by governement members when it comes to the US. It is the modern way of feeding a military industrial complex

@gnr4life

Facts for a lone gun man far outweigh the conspiracy theories. I'm not sure if your trying to be a smart arse by using him as a example or genuinely asking…ill go with the latter.

the guy was nuts. there is a good book on his life leading up to the assassination but forget the author. From what I remember:

* court marshaled for shooting himself
* gets in a biff with commanding officer
*moves to Russia
* renounces (try's to ) the US
* try to commit suicide
*kgb don't like him,see he's unstable
*moves back to us after mother Russia is not interested in him
*trys to assassinate a general or major..fails
*leaves wife(who he beats) pretty full on sucide note.
*arrested for handing out pro Cuba pamphlets
*gets a job at a book depository
*jfk cops a bullet in the head..

I'm sure I'm forgetting alot of his crazy shit but you get the idea.

The big thing is, like all conspiracy theories is people like to think the government is this perfect machine that would be easily able to hide a huge secret and all the people involved will go to their death beds holding in all this important information....wrong...ask Clinton, that guy can't even have some fun in his office without the world knowing. Same for Nixon, the truth will get out. If there is any that is.

Its quite obvious that there was more to the Kennedy assassination than meets the eye. Instead of going into detail i'll leave you with this

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JFK_conspiracy

There is more than enough in there that proves something wasn't quite right

Nightly news stories that tell you how to feel. Statements like "And now a story that will disgust you", "Coming up super bowl tickets ,you won't believe how much they are", etc

Tell me the facts and I will make up my own conclusions. I'm a big boy and can handle it.

Proving a conspiracy takes more than just throwing a bunch of pot shots and saying "there, at least one of them must be right".

Why do people with fat arses & legs where bloody skinny jeans?
they dont look comfortable wearing them & if they are not comfortable why bloody wear it!!!
Also people that wear those straight caps & leave the bloody tags on them does my head in.
Bloody youth of today!!!

RE: Boston Bombing theories etc.

I saw on facebook this video about these "illuminati cards". Had never heard of them and unsure of what people bought them for, games, collections etc. Anyway apparently these cards have events on them that have happened all around the world today. And this most recent event with the Boston Bombings is apparently connected with the "joggers" card. In the video it explains the relationships with worldly disasters.

This is the video I watched:

So there was no conspiracy in the JFK assassination?
