The Refs

I dont really like to blame the refs when we lose because i feel we often get a good go and people tend to use it as an excuse for the teams shortcomings.

BUT, today each Souths try came off a bullshit penalty that put them in the position to score. Luke's first try, Souths player loses the ball 30m out from their line, the ref whos 20m away and cant see shit calls i penalty for a strip (i have no idea how a ref that far away can conclusivley say that the player was trying to strip the ball) and then instead of a Tigers scrum 30m out souths get the ball 40m out from a line. Same case in the other 2 trys.

Yeah they were s*** penalties but we should have put the game away easily. Our own stupid decisions cost us the game, not the stupid penalties.

The standard of refereeing in the NRL over the past few years, especially in our games is atrocious. I'm convinced more than half the time that they're just guessing.

Can't blame losing on it though, it's part of any sport, if you get bad calls it's up to you to just rise above it and play better.

I totally agree, the decision not to take a feild goal off that scrum was beyond stupidity, and a 100% believe had Robbie been playing we wouldve taken it. But souths never shouldve been in the position to score any of those trys

I was at the game and we were getting penalized for things souths were getting away with. Every try came off a penalty. Souths were all over us in the ruck and we got nothing. Inside the 10 on numerous occasions and we got one off a 20m tap!! Situations wear their we're no reasons for our players to strip, souths lose the ball and we get done. What is the combined penalty count from the past 3 games!!! Dead set 2 to 1 to the opposition. I hate blaming the refs but I'm certain that we are getting more bullshit calls then any other team in the comp this year.

I was going to open a thread on REFS, before I spotted this one. I have not read any posts, but I 100% agree with all of them. I only have 3 points.
1 - why do the opposition always get rewarded for poor ball security?
2 - how can they justify the loop sided penalty count, when I think both sides were equally playing to the rules?
3 - how are they exempt from the post match question time? We need answers.

The refereeing last week against the raiders was plain and simple cheating. The refs this week were a bit more subtle in the way they handed souths the game but none the less we still have issues to fix. The refereeing is npt the whole reason we are loosing but it surely isnt helping.

The biggest joke is that it is SO EASY to fix this garbage refereeing. You only only blow a penalty when YOU ACTUALLY SEE A STRIP NOT WHEN YOU SUSPECT ONE HAS OCCURRED!!!!!!

That was an absolute outrage. 17 guys who played their guts out had a game that should have been theirs taken away.

The penalty to Souths for us stripping the ball when the player was over the line trying to score a try was ridiculous.

I'm convinced that the referees are instructed to referee for the 'comeback', especially to avoid losing ratings in the last 30 minutes running up to the Channel 9 news.

I thought alot of the stripping calls were wrong but we seriously need to get our hands away from the ball in defense. Just tempts the refs. The worrying play for me was when Lowe was holding Humble off the ball after that charge down. Both refs were right on the spot but took a lifetime to blow the penalty. I seriously thought they were going to call play on.

Taking a hand of the ball would cause an offload. The whole point of the tackle is to stop the ball.

Refs should use the video ref in their ears more in these circumstances. A simple replay would show who should take possession. And players should have better ball security when taking the ball up. Its one of the first things you learn as a junior is to tuck it in before contact and hold in two hands and showing when attacking.

Never been a huge fan of the one on one steal rule, you need the ball to win the game and as such the onus should be for attacking players to hold the ball secure. Two on one should be able to play at the ball but any more then that shouldn't.
