The Run Home

We've won two out of the last three and I don't think anyone who watched the games dispassionately could say that getting up over a Souths outfit that didn't start playing for 20 minutes, getting battered by an ok Dogs side and then gritting out a stinker over the NSWCupstle Knights gives any evidence at all that the 2016 Tigers aren't a bottom four side.

If the side suddenly starts playing much better and consistently produces results I will, indeed, be impressed (and even a little excited). If it carries on being garbage but hits a few teams on down weeks I will not.

The Tigers need to be attracting good players and sponsors. Finals appearances go a long way there, as do games on CH9.. After the '05 season our sponsor went from JFTA petrochemical to Proton. Our run in 2010-2011 locked up Hyundai We need multinationals with big advertising budgets, not local restaurants, ambulance chasing lawyers and rubbish removal contractors.

The sponsors don't care how we get to the finals, they just want their name on screen in big matches and on free to air TV. A team that's never there in september and plays on FOX at 1pm is marketing poison.

So if we, as you say, hit a few teams on down weeks, I'll be absolutely thrilled if we make the 8\. I don't care if it takes a few scrappy golden point wins and a few contentious bunker calls that go our way, we just need to get there. It's essential for our team's development.

Well said.

What some are saying on this forum is that every win we have from now on will be against teams who are having a bad day??

Wow! how lucky can we be?

Seriously, DUH!!!

I think we'll win some more games where we play well, especially once Teddy's back but if other teams are struggling on a scrappy night, I'll take the points without angsting about how we got them.

I think there are going to be a few surprises over the coming months, the addition of Taylor as already demonstrated could be the catalyst the 2 young halves need ,throw in Teddy the 1 6 7 13 look pretty impressive …I also think JAC needs to be on one wing ,this team are by no means at this stage anywhere near the serious end of the season but I do see signs that we might have a bit to cheer about over the second half of the season.

That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying if we don't play better than we have been the only way we'll win games is luck and poor opposition. Which is pretty much self-evident if you've watched the team play.

If we play better, great - I'll be ecstatic. Not sure where that's going to come from, though.

Enjoy it guys
If we make the 8 it'll be a travesty to rugby league as a game….that a squad this lacking who have played some dreadful football could make the finals is a clear indication the finals series is not setup properly

Take it back to a top five, or top six at the worst.

Eight teams is half the comp, and rewards mediocrity.

I like the Top 6 , but it is real hard to work out a finals set up for it

And the NRL won't want to lose the income of a final 8

And secondly if we bring in a Top 6 I don't see us making the finals until the next blue moon shines on a mermaid's arse at Loch Ness while getting married to Nessie

anything can happen in the finals

All the "Bottom of the 8" teams say that….
Unfortunately, I generally doesn't.
The best teams for the majority of the year (top 4) are more often than not the ones that do well in the finals - and ultimately take it out.

Not really, you'd just lose a week of finals footy. 1 and 2 get first week off, and it's sudden death after that.

Some good players will get drop to make way for Teddy, Robby and Woods. East are on the improve, but if the forwards play like they did tonight ….. We should beat them.

Teddy has to come in for Rankin. I bet JAC misses out but that is a dumb decision.

Look Steve you don't think that having the club's maybe 3rd best goal kicker is even a dumber decision

Moses isn't kicking because of his groin , you take out Rankin as well ( who is starting to get some confidence with goal kicking ) and what next Farah or Lawrence ??

It will be extremely hard to leave out JAC , but what other option do you have , tonight if we had a third rate kicker and he missed one of the kicks that Rankin gets we lose , simple

I would leave out Nofo

A tough call was made on Sirro

Here is another one.

Strong clubs can make these types of calls.

Taylor as a coach is growing on me i think he could become a good coach i think his biggest weakness is not understanding his players strengths and weakness he has to coach to the team he has NOT coach to the team he thinks he has :bulb: the strength of his players he has to understand better

But i do think this year has been a let down so far with games against the Sharks Storm and Knights should have won every body talks about poor Penrith losing close games but what about the Tigers i think we can finish between 7th and 9th also the Titans game they should have won just lost there way

I can honestly say the Tigers do the most stupid plays of all teams in the NRL they self sabotage and that is because the players have to learn how to win its easy for a young player to come on in a winning team they learn from older players who know how to win and go with the flow build confidence but who can they learn from at the Tigers all the top clubs have a few hard nuts who dont give up and bleed for the players around them i think its great they have Grant Ballin and Taylor on board now will go along way

Next stop the Rooters

Leave Naiqama out and play Rankin in the centres
