The run home

Well tidally speaking, we have had more than our fair share of ebbs and are due some flows. Exactly what that means, only Maguire knows.

Fishing is probably better somewhere near you. Maybe you can tell him?

Round 24: Panthers (A) - LOSE

I would love us to win 4 in a row but can’t see that happening.

A good example of what Madge said in the presser
**"We've got a massive opportunity ahead of us"**
Yesterdays win will boost their confidence and morale, but i hope the boys don't get too cocky.

Imo Warriors, dogs x2, cows, sharks are all duable games.
Only way we can beat panthers is if they rest some players heading into finals.

Re your last sentence @Tiger_Fanatic3
A bit negative maybe?
Do you think Madge would say that to his team just before kick off?
Edit : not being critical of you ok!?

If penrith decide to rest some players then yes

Fair enough :slightly_smiling_face: .

St. George Illawarra Dragons
7th. 18pts. -24
Round 19: Titans (H)
Round 20: Rabbitohs (H)
Round 21: Raiders (A)
Round 22: Panthers (H)
Round 23: Roosters (H)
Round 24: Cowboys (H)
Round 25: Rabbitohs (A)
The Dragons’ first season under the tutelage of Anthony Griffin has been an inconsistent one, but they have exceeded expectations.

Untimely injuries and suspensions have not made things easy, but disappointing losses to the Bulldogs, Tigers, Warriors and Sharks could well hurt them come season’s end.

Still have a few weeks of suspension interruptions as players pay the penalty for a COVID breach and face a tough run home that features clashes with the Panthers, Roosters and Rabbitohs twice.

Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks
8th. 16pts. -60
Round 19: Bulldogs (A)
Round 20: Sea Eagles (H)
Round 21: Warriors (A)
Round 22: Knights (H)
Round 23: Tigers (A)
Round 24: Broncos (H)
Round 25: Storm (H)
The Sharks are another side that have put a slow start behind them and now have their eyes on the finals.

Clinging to the edge of the eight, the Sharks missed a huge opportunity to put a gap in the bottom half of the draw when they went down to the Raiders in round 18.

They still have a very favourable run home, with just two of their final seven matches against current top-eight teams and three games against sides sitting in the bottom three.

Canberra Raiders
9th. 16pts. -74
Round 19: Eels (A)
Round 20: Knights (A)
Round 21: Dragons (H)
Round 22: Storm (A)
Round 23: Sea Eagles (H)
Round 24: Warriors (A)
Round 25: Roosters (H)
Consecutive wins over Manly and Cronulla draws them level with the eighth-placed Sharks on points.

The Raiders have endured a frustrating season, with much of the mojo that got them to a grand final two years ago appearing to have worn off with just five wins in the first 16 rounds.

Five of their final seven games come against current top-eight sides, including away clashes against Parramatta and Melbourne.

Newcastle Knights
10th. 16pts. -137
Round 19: Roosters (A)
Round 20: Raiders (H)
Round 21: Broncos (H)
Round 22: Sharks (A)
Round 23: Bulldogs (A)
Round 24: Titans (H)
Round 25: Broncos (A)
Their confidence and differential each took a big hit at the hands of a ruthless Melbourne in a tough round 18 but they are still level with eighth-placed Cronulla on points.

Tyson Frizell is back but Kalyn Ponga, David Klemmer, Mitch Pearce and Dan Saifiti were missed against the Storm.

The draw is quite kind to them for the run home, with meetings against the Broncos twice, as well as the Titans and Bulldogs on the menu.

Gold Coast Titans
11th. 14pts. -74
Round 19: Dragons (A)
Round 20: Bulldogs (A)
Round 21: Cowboys (H)
Round 22: Rabbitohs (A)
Round 23: Storm (H)
Round 24: Knights (A)
Round 25: Warriors (H)
It's one step forward and two steps back for the Titans, who were outplayed by the Eels in round 18 to keep them a win adrift of the finals zone.

They still sit just two points outside the eight though and the run home provides the Titans with an opportunity to jump up the standings, with four of their seven remaining games coming against sides around them on the ladder.

Wests Tigers
12th. 14pts. -130
Round 19: Sea Eagles (A)
Round 20: Warriors (H)
Round 21: Bulldogs (A)
Round 22: Cowboys (A)
Round 23: Sharks (H)
Round 24: Panthers (A)
Round 25: Bulldogs (H)

Climbed two ladder spots in round 18 with an impressive win over Brisbane sparked by Adam Doueihi's return to the halves to snap a three-game losing streak.

Remarkably still just a win outside the eight, further clashes against the Bulldogs (twice), Broncos again plus Warriors and Cowboys will keep Tigers' fans dreams alive for now.

I appreciate this is from the NRL website and on the Tigers website but how do they get we play the Broncos again from the below. Sloppy journo's

Am optimistic but who knows what tigers team will turn up on the day. If they can manage a decent first half then should go ok as we always seem to win the second half but our first half kills us

I can see the scenario now, our last game against the dog’s where we need a win to get into the 8, we play a draw (due to a disallowed try by us) and the dogs kick the FG to give us the much prized 9th spot?😂

No. We lose games in that scenario by at least 16 points.

So I just did the NRL ladder predictor thing. I tried to be objective, only gave us the wins against teams currently below us in the ladder. And...

We finish 9th on 22 points.
Raiders 8th on 22.
Knights also on 22 but with a worse for and against.

And that's with us losing to Manly, Sharks and Panthers...

BUT... If we beat the Sharks... We finish 7th.

It seems insane but not that far out of the realm of possibility. Or is that wishful thinking?

Exactly

We could win the next 6 straight ...put 50 on Penrith .....have Penrith fans call Cleary a wanker ....and I'd still be concerned with teh last dogs game

My guesses. Feel free to quote me.

Wests Tigers
12th. 14pts. -130
Round 19: Sea Eagles (A) --we will loose, we were flogged at start of y3ar.
Round 20: Warriors (H) -tigers. I reckon we have a good chance if we hum. Warriors are with injury.
Round 21: Bulldogs (A) -Tigers. Yes doggies have some kind of defense, but largely suck.
Round 22: Cowboys (A) -- toss up Cowboys. I believe we lost to them already. Payten will prepare for this game. Payten too gets defense and they can attack.
Round 23: Sharks (H) - loss. Their forwards are strong and their halves are firing.
Round 24: Panthers (A) -loss, unless they fall asleep before playing us.
Round 25: Bulldogs (H) -tigers.

I count 3 wins. Maybe 4 if very lucky.
22 points we would be 9th.

We will have a lot of trouble with Fonua-Blake and Lodge imo.

We should win 5/7. If we do, we make finals footy. Typical tigers thing to do would be to win 4 and finish one win out of the 8.

That’s how I see it aswell. We should win 5/7. We can’t ask for a better draw to finish the season. We might even get lucky and have panthers rest a few with their top 2 spot locked up and they have nothing to play for. I could almost stop wishing serious injury to both clearys if he did that.

Week at a time

A week at a time as you said. But also….

We’ve trained well this week
We’ll take a lot of confidence from that win
The boys just need to control those moments
We need to play for 80 minutes
We’re growing as a group
We need to be on the right end of the ebbs and flows

And only then will we make the 8.

I think Newcastle are the team to watch for us. We need to hope they lose some of their more even matchups they have like the Warriors.

We can scrape in on 22 points if things go our way in other games, but 24 has us there on for and against...provided we don't get lapped by 60 against Manly.

Sadly, we've been here before and come up short every time. The Sharks and Cowboys will probably knock us off the way we're going.

Sundays win wasn't anything to write home about. The Broncos were a shambles and had every right to win that game.

We might get lucky if Penrith rest Cleary and Luai, but even then, they will be tought to beat.

We need to beat Manly and not leave it till the last game to try and make the eight.

To many twists and turns if the players can turn up and put in winning will sort it all out.The top 5 teams need to beat the teams below them every week The 2 points we got against Pamfers could be the most valuable ever earned by WTS

that souths game will bite us

Cowboys and Titans games spring to mind as the most gutless.

Our staff and the few good 'uns we have will pay the price for the squad being riddled with bludgers. That core group will reap what others sow unfortunately.

I'm generally pessimistic about this season apart from a few weeks where I felt the old hope stir again. The win on the weekend did nothing for me. Watching Madge age 5 years in 4 weeks and try to explain to first graders not to slump their shoulders, to make sure they take 2 steps forward in defence etc... actually confirms how far we have to go still.

Any success this year, even 9th, would be a fluke.
