The one thing that stood out to me was who the real leader and captain of this side should be. Packer on 2 occasions walked with Doueihi, consoling him with his arm around his shoulder. Good work Russell.

Yes. That thought crossed my mind on the night.

Wow....Ive seen it all now with people suggesting Packer as captain.

Well you have to admit, he's the only one out there that showed any leadership with his upset teammate. Where was Mbyebye?

Agree with that, its big leap to Captain though

Who else shows leadership? That is the issue here. How long has this forum been calling for leadership?

Trouble is you want your Captain to be pretty sure of getting picked each week. Thats a short list now. Twal?

Luciano definitely leads with his actions but perhaps he might be deaf mute like Mbye when it comes to revving the boys up a bit? He's most certainly the leader with his actions and consistency.

The emotional footage of teammates consoling distraught Wests Tigers fullback Adam Doueihi shocked many - here’s the sad reason behind the star’s tears.

His tears were as much for his club as they were for his country.

While most rightly assumed a distressed Wests Tigers fullback Adam Doueihi’s post-game tears on Saturday night were due to last week’s tragic explosion in Beirut, he was also lamenting his own modest form and his side’s horrible performance against Newcastle.

Doueihi has Lebanese heritage — and has represented Lebanon in rugby league — but has no immediate family living in the country.

Having been handed the Wests Tigers’ fullback spot at the start of this season, Doueihi remains frustrated at his own form and that of his underachieving side, which has lost three successive matches.

And the emotion poured out after his team’s 44-4 loss to the Knights — television cameras capturing the vision of Doueihi in tears. Insiders claim Doueihi was “flat” at halftime and “upset” at fulltime.

“It bubbled over and came out, it was sad to see,” the source said. “He is disappointed and frustrated because Wests Tigers are better than how they’re performing. He has so much passion. And he only turned 22 years old last week, he’s still very young.”

Teammates, primarily Russell Packer, comforted Doueihi — who had the word Lebanon on his wrist tape — at fulltime.

“Adam is pretty passionate. He’s been a junior at Wests Tigers and he wants this club up where we all want it,” Tigers coach Michael Maguire said. “He showed a bit of passion around what the game means to him, and I can assure you that every player in that change room feels the same.”

Former premiership-winning hooker Michael Ennis said Doueihi was gutted at full time.

“Adam Doueihi is absolutely distraught,” Ennis said on Fox League.

“They’re concerning scenes. At halftime we got some shots, we couldn’t see his face but he was in deep discussions with Michael Maguire.

“We know he’s of Lebanese heritage and it’s been a really tough week with what’s gone on in Lebanon and it could possibly be that.”

Former Test and Queensland superstar Cooper Cronk also spoke passionately about Doueihi.

“It’s hard to talk over because you don’t know the pain and suffering that the young man is going through at the moment,” Cronk said.

“Our hearts are with him and we hope there are good times ahead for Doueihi, his family and the Lebanese community.”

Well one has to question if he was in the right frame of mind to play?
That's really a coaching/Player discussion.
In reality he had another shocker and that's now a few games in a row.
A few weeks back i was more thinking give him some time, he was generally safe under the high ball, but other factors were concerning, positional play and speed.
I really don't think he is a fullback and Madge is playing him there as no better option for now.
Reviewing tackle efficiency stats he is also our worst performing player this season and properly deserves to be dropped but replaced with whom.

Doueihi - 69.4% , Nofoloma - 71.3%, Talua - 71.6%, Marshall - 73.7%

Ch 7 news report Monday night AD admitted he wasn't mentally right on Saturday because of the events in Lebanon and the way WT'S had been going thats why Madge was talking to him at half time if he new he wasn't right should have put his hand up and stood down Jrey and Garner were available AD was cooked before he run out.

Thanks - shows communication is lacking with Coach/Players this discussion should have taken prior not at half time, Cheers for the update.

22 year old who’s barely played here cares more about winning and losing than majority of our players. I’m sure covid and the Lebanon tragedy added to his tears but for me it’s good to know he cares. Wish everyone else cared that much

Well said Josh.

This is not a joke but I just read the article shared on the WTF (quoting Lee Hagipantelis) and am now genuinely concerned for the mental welfare of our players - and what precautionary measures the club takes - as I honestly don't want them to be carrying the weight of any heavy burden. And especially due to any past failures of this club.
We've invested in some youth and they truly don't deserve that.
Like some have suggested t, despite the competitive nature there still needs to be some enjoyment taken out of the game, for the players.

They’re a lot happier if they’re winning. Hard to enjoy a 44-4 loss. Doueihi always seems very hard on himself even when we win, just one of those guys which isn’t a bad thing as long as our other players support him. Was good to see Packer first there trying to look after him

Me thinks this place must be getting to me a little bit too??

I see exactly what you're saying and thought his game was growing until we met the Bunnies. Read that he watches Tedesco in effort to mould his defence around and maybe this is where he's going wrong (?).
He's a bigger body and obviously other methods or techniques are more suited to him - perhaps Tommy Turbo's body use/positioning may be better for him. I remember he really struggled in this aspect only 2 years ago and has really turned into a super competitor.

Moulding his defence on Ted isn't a good thing, Ted's a turnstile. AD should search the archives for a bit of Garry Jack incentive.
His movement isn't his strong point, but he shows ticker and adeptness under the high ball, much more so than Mbye who is good for 1 or 2 bomb-drops per game as fullback.
Hopefully he keeps his chin up, he's been one of our better performers in a bad stretch IMO. Worth persisting with.

Should have a talk to KB, he would be only too happy to help.

Clive Churchill turned him into the best defensive FB at the
time following the 1959 Kangaroos tour of England.

Admire the blokes passion but something needs to change within the playing group to get them out of this slump. If a bunch of 18 year olds can heed a coach's words at halftime and come out and give it to the opposition, then why can't our mob? Bewildering to say the least...

I've always believed we have the biggest dormant fan base. We have so many passive fans who are just waiting for some success before they come back.

Luciano would be my pick

Luciano definitely leads with his actions but perhaps he might be deaf mute like Mbye when it comes to revving the boys up a bit? He's most certainly the leader with his actions and consistency.

Still have to be an upgrade on Mbye

A half eaten away Mummy from the Ramses II era would be an upgrade on Mbye.

But can it kick goals?

No, one is it’s legs has been eaten away

No but with one of it's legs eaten away it can kick better than Mbye.
