The truth

@OzLuke I was selecting a Wests Tigers team in a Play Station game the other day, and I upgraded a couple of players to better players from other teams. Then I upgraded a few more, and it got me thinking about which ones I actually *wouldn't* upgrade.

They pretty much all went, I kept only two out of loyalty, Matterson and Brooks, and Brooks only because I cant stand most other halfbacks.

Did you win or was Brooks still useless?

@hobbo1 lol yeah, he didnt do much. But Luke Keary did well for me at five eighth. JWH did alright up front with Fifita, Taumololo at lock, Latrell in the centres, Teddy at fullback. Though Teddy wore number 14 on his back, as I would start him on the bench and sub him back on - he won't be number one in my teams again. Rapana and Bj Leulia on one side in the backs

We as fans are frustrated because of our finals draught. However, if you look at this game at half time I had us losing by 40+, given their limited talent the team's effort is good. Skill, speed, size are lacking but very hard to change within the squad. If this was 2014 I'd be feeling ok about our future, but the fact that we have had to endure this crap as supporters for so long is killing the club. We need to go all in on our biggest, fastest juniors. Bradley, Talaua and even Cini if we can need to be blooded early or you can write off 2020 too because despite our great heart and fight for most of the year WE ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Our three quarter line need to take all the blame for that result tonight. Despite the imperfection inside them, they had ample opportunity to apply the polish. Farah, Liddle, Benji, Brooks and Mbye made errors but also came up with massive plays that good teams capitalise on. Bring on the future.

Completely agree that our problem is not the guys getting mentioned most weeks, ie Benji, Brooks and Farah.

We honestly create enough, just no pace and hard runners outside of them.

All our outside backs skip hop and flop.

As a fan, I am just frustrated we are in this situation for another 2 years. If we were having a bad year, and we could look to sign some guys for next year, I would be hopeful. But at the moment we can't even say theres always next year , or the year after that even. We can't even blame injuries...we have almost everyone on the field.

Cleary did well last year with this side, but he was the mastermind who brought these guys in. No coach is getting this rabble to the 8. I look at ever other side in the competition and I am envious of all the players they have... I look at us and wonder if outside Matterson, if anyone is wishing they had anyone from our squad.

Good morning @old_man_tiger: An all-round good post Sir.
Re your "we as fans are frustrated because of our finals drought"...you can bet your gonads on that.
Re your "at 1/2 time, I had us losing by 40+"...so did I, but, we put in a splendid effort and made a Great comeback in the 2nd 1/2 and in my opinion it was probably the best effort I have seen this season, I was proud to be a Wests Tigers Supporter.
Re your "given their limited talent the team's effort was good"...spot on, and that is why I am so proud.
Packer was back to his best IMO. If Madge can continue to get him to play like that every week after being upgraded to the NRL, he will give us a bit of agressive mongrel :skull_and_crossbones: up front that has been sorely lacking. This will then give the rest of the forwards in particular, confidence to follow. IMO Elijah Taylor 😛oint_up: has really stepped up and IS showing up in attack now. Eisenhuth 😛oint_up: IMO has improved outa sight and if Twal gets a bit more mongrel :fist: into him, we have the making of a bloody good forward pack.
However I don't feel Liddle :white_frowning_face: is 'the answer to our problem as hooker'. Once Farah gets out of the way Liddle will be a good stop gap until our new young recruit [forgotten his name] is ready to rumble.
Unfortunately, I can't see any improvement coming from our backs :white_frowning_face: , apart from Mbye 😛oint_up: stepping up 'every game".
Benji has put big wraps on Madden to be Our next no. 7 in the footsteps of our already good no. 7 Luke Brooks who will only get better when he has tougher forwards around him.
Apart from Madden though, I can only see 2 or 3 others in the current CC team that will be any better than good 1st team players
Re your "bring on the future" yes, yes, yes, yes please, because the future for Our Wests Tigers IS going to be GREAT, and I'm excited 😛oint_up: :relaxed: :v: .

The truth is it's round about this point in the season where the contenders start ramping up their game and we start going backwards.

@old_man_tiger Totally agree .... our spine laid it on and our 3/4 was just not up to it.
It’s pretty obvious where our problems are ..... and our coaching staff are aware where their focus should be in the off season.

Masters has to go. He does not run with enough venome and if anything slows our backline. Not good enough as a club centre.

I think we started going backwards about 6 weeks ago. Still sliding

What has disappointed me has been the lack of rookies who have emerged this year.Every other team seems to have one or two young players appearing in first grade.
thanks to 9 gem and or Foxtel I have been able to watch the Canterbury cup team but how underwhelming have they been.It would appear to be no outstanding talent with that lot.
Part of my enjoyment of watching the wests tigers and or wests has been following the progress of emerging talent.

so the coach needs to come up with some lightbulb moments.Along with other forumers, the coach is ready for change.
Bring it on.

In all honesty, I'm a little disappointed with Ryan's comment re:Madge training methods but can't really blame any player who questions the professionalism of WT Management. The stupid mismanagement over the last decade has been like watching a train wreck.....
The preparation for the last game seemed to take precedent over everything. Cmon Pascoe and Co.
(I still don't even know who our Chairman is because of how this club chooses to engage with it's fans) just get everything in order. This is embarrassing.

I just want to see our boys play with a bit of passion or pride.
They may not have trust or faith in their teammates, but cmon how hard is it to have pride in yourself
and your own abilities.

This is it. Start playing in a way that displays pride in the jersey, the club & your own performance.

And it would be great if we could belt a few folks along the way!

I was thinking this the 2nd time Hodgson stole the ball of us on the weekend (Aloia I think). I would’ve been happy then & there if Josh just dropped him, despite the consequences.

Well I was thinking hitting him with an elbow as you struggle for the ball .....oops

Winning 6/7 or even beating Manly to make it 7/7 is a reality....our remaining games are against beatable teams....the boys just need to take a leaf out of Penrith's book and back themselves

@Snake I would seriously just play out of Cambo and Leichhardt. Screw Bankwest and ANZ! There is nothing better then a packed suburban ground. With that though everyone would have to turn up and not leave many seats vacant because then it look real bad.

Probably ......but this team couldn't put 6 good game winning performances together in a 7 week period ...plus many of these sides are in the exact same boat as us ....and the past suggests things usually gets ugly

The unfortunate truth is that Cleary got essentially the same roster to 12-12 in 25 rounds and it appears Madge is unlikely to match that.

Meanwhile Cleary's new team are 9-8 with 7 matches in hand, likely to better 12 wins.

Madge might be a better overall coach but Cleary is getting superior results.

With a superior playing roster eh!
