The Unbig 2

is woods really worth the type of money being thrown about? I just don't get the love affair with this bloke.

Does that mean pigs like graham, papali, tomou , cooper, Scott etc…are on 700k plus? And if they are, woods should be on substantially less imho.

Well he is an origin and test front rower.

If we got rid of him who would you be replacing him with???

Here is what the so called big 4 should be offered(in order of importance)

1.Teddy 4years $1.1 m per year
2\. Woods 4 years $900k per year
3\. Moses 3 years ($700,$750,$800)
4\. Brooks 2 years $600, $700 incentive based)

I would also add that they cannot have Moses as their Manager…..

All of those figures are overs. Even for Ted.

I think he is exactly right

Teddy - $1,100,000
Woods - $900,000
Moses - $700
Brooks - $600

Halves are playing like that at the moment, so lets offer them that

Born Tiger, your estimates on Teddy and Woods are reasonable,Moses should be at about 450/500k at most,Brooks at 300/350k and if he don't like it he can see if Centrelink offers better….

pay teddy what he wants, woods 800k moses and brooks no more than 400k until they prove themselves if they don't like it goodbye dont let them hold this basket case of a club to anymore ransom.

If you added in TPA's I reckon the Woods and Teddy figures are spot on

I think you will find Tigerrap was serious (as in no zeros after) when he typed:

3\. Moses 3 years (**$700,**$750,$800) (seven hundred dollars)
4\. Brooks 2 years $**600**, $700 incentive based) (Six Hundred Dollars)

It's spot on..

but is what is also true is that this tag has been placed on them by the Media ..just as comparison with Immortals were placed on them…

I think it was Milky who bought up the point that Brooks played his best footy under Potter and had a great combination with Tedesco..but has gone backwards ...

It's up to them now to deliver consistently on what they are capable of or see you later..

We also had a monster bench at the time when Brooks/Teddy's relationship really flourished, ie. Ava, Sue, Gavet & Marty. It obviously didn't last long as injuries hit. But I don't think it's coincidence that they've struggled since as our bench has never really carried as much impact.

Yeah, ahah.. Sorry mate I should have clarified as well. I meant $700 as opposed to $700k.. Halves are worth no where near the money the seem to be commanding

I think you're being pretty harsh on Woods. One of the best front rowers in the game. NSW and Australian representative. I would have him in my team over Tamou every day of the week.

So if you had $700k - $900k to spend on a prop who are you buying? Give us some names.

ayep, definitely with Sterlo on this one.

And whoever said Cleary is the one to make the offers.

But MTBW is pay Teddy whatever it takes. Woodsy $800K. A reasonable market offer to Moses.

Whatever we were considering the pay Brooks, withdraw from the table and let him go. Add that amount to what we were expecting to pay for a couple of decent forwards. Look at what's available and target a couple of the biggest and best defenders to bolster our pack/bench.

If Moses stays shift him to #7 and for now JLJ or similar who is also a good #6 defender. Those two will go alright behind a bigger, better pack.

Let Cleary make the call he is the only one remotely qualified to deal with player contracts.

Agreed..

It is an interesting scenario now…the players want clarity on the coach...If it is to be Cleary I would imagine part of his acceptance would be a condition he gets control of the roster ....

I wouldn't be giving a timeframe on these guys until the coach is known..

If he wants all 4 and they then re-sign does that mean his 1st decision is a dud one as according to most Brooks at least should be let go...with Moses also borderline...

My take is the players wanted Taylor gone and they got their wish. I would be reluctant to cut and run with Brooks and Moses as a negative environment playing for a coach you don't believe in can lead to poor performance on the field, especially with young players.

Cleary would have been sounded out over the offseason for sure and certain so he would be aware of who he wants to keep and target already. He has to come in and see what these players have face to face and make decisions from there. He alluded we had talent at key positions so I am very certain he wants to keep the 4\. Question is at what price do you pay.

The players have had deals before the season started on the table from WT so when the new coach signs assuming its Cleary he should set a sign or walk timeframe. I think Cleary will be announced this week unless Hassler is poached behind the scenes but he is too costly for WT.

Tedesco is basically the reason why we've missed the spoon the last two years. He took a pay cut in his backflip on Canberra, I'm happy to give the bloke a pen and let him write his own cheque. Woods 700-800k, Moses and Brooks 400k each, if they don't like it, then too bad. At the moment they haven't shown themselves to be half the players that Woods is, so they shouldn't really deserve half the money. I'd rather cut and run on both and bring in some new faces. For all the "played together our whole lives" tale we got spun, they play like strangers out there. Seems like the only play now is a sweeping backline shift to Teddy, let them play what they see for the rest of the year and we'll see how it turns out. If we go half decent, sign them up and commit to that play-style; if not, on your bike.

I honestly can't see Woods or Teddy leaving, really. Willing to agree with TYGA and give benefit of the doubt to the halves FOR NOW, whether it's Cleary/Webster behind the reins, we wait and see how the duo go. Surely there's a decent old head lurking around in ESL or park footy (not Sandow, Gidley would be nice but can't see him opposing the Knights, maybe Carney or Mick Dobson but they're a bit long in the tooth). Kid like May from Penrith, if they want him go harder for Martin to make a comeback.

My only concern in giving Teddy so much is his usual lack of heavy involvement in the game due to his position, but he was very good in becoming more involved in the Raiders game when things were really desperate.

Woods can't play 80 mins so his pay should be limited as well - if he got back in time for every play the ball it would be different. Can't we find a younger version of Willy Mason? He could sprint the diagonal distance of the field at excellent speed.

Brookes no more than the Benji offer of $300-350 and Mitch about $450\. Mitch is tackling more and better this year but not running at the line well the last few games.

I think they desperately need a playmaker out of DH more than anything else. Their current game is so boring and predictable.

They are the playmakers, they don't need a creative dummy half. They need aggressive forwards who actually bend the line and some weapons out wide. You can't give them both in excess of $700k and then pay good money for a 9\. as well.

I posted over 6 months ago that Brooks should take the offer the club was offering him …he was always the one that would get left behind.
It looks like he might have been given bad advice and that was to hang out to get more ,he always was going to be paid well...it will be interesting how it pans out now.
