The worst season by any club, ever?

Has there ever been a worse season for a club in the history of the NRL/ARL?

NRL = Last
NRLW = Last
NSW Cup = Last
Jersey Flegg = 7th, missed finals
HNWNSWCup = 3rd last, missed finals
SG Ball Balmain = Last, winless
SG Ball Wests = 8th, missed finals
Harold Matts Balmain = Last, winless
Harold Matts Wests = 2nd, lost GF
Tarsha Gale = 9th, missed finals

Across the top 10 grades we only had one team make the finals. With 5/10 teams coming dead last.

This about as toxic as culture gets. Loser mentality, accepting/aspiring to mediocrity, atrocious recruitment, poor coaching. It's just not good enough. And it's why we've failed year after year to develop players.

Yes we had some young sides, and a few talented youngsters here and there - but so does every other club. And while it's unlikely you'll have success in every single grade, to fail so miserably in almost every single grade leads me to think this is the worst season a club has ever had. This is why we're a laughing stock of a club.

Are there any other contenders?
We will set a new record next year

We should have brought Christian tuipolotu over
when we had a chance and left jnr in wynnum reggies

Impressive

I hope they enjoy their end of season trips and awards nights...they've all worked really hard and deserve some rewards....

Hope all the paying fans enjoy their end of season trips also. For they pay a little for the players trips. They are entitled to rewards also. Not for mediocrity though.

I hear Gus' podcast quite a lot and he mentions that at Penrith when they set up the academy, there was a lot of continuity about how players were coached. I don't watch all the Juniors/reserve grades but he seems to think that the way teams play from Juniors to NRL is very similar, hence why you don't say new players come in and blend into the first grade team straight away.

Obviously Gus adds a bit of GST to all of his self proclamations but it's very relevant to us.

Apparently Richo is the CEO and the Head of Football (can't find anything official about this tbh, just something a poster said here). I would love to know who's coaching the coaches, do we have a Coaching director? Ideally for the first grade coach because he sucks but moreso for the lower grade coaches as well.

I hope the club can be a bit transparent about the Pathways and who answers to who in terms of football operations. What's the support being provided to the junior coaches. What sort of courses are they offerred? I think Andrew Gray from Cronulla Sharks was with us for a year or two in the Head of Performance role but haven't seen anything about this role for a few years. I know most clubs aren't transparent about this stuff but seems like our club is struggling so we probably need to know who are the people accountable?

It is clearly not an individual issue at the club. I don't think a blanket blame Lee/Pascoe would do. Yes thery are the face of it and they've been in charge but let's be honest we have been shit long before they came in. They just dug us into a bigger hole.

I hope someone makes long term decisions and looks further than the 2-3 years they're contracted at. I don't think the issue is recruitment/retention etc. The issue to me is lack of structure, not because I have proof of it, but because most people who come here struggle.

So much for one of the best junior nurseries in the NRL...jeez..theres not much coming thru.so were just like Roosters or Storm...tho we'll probably contract had a dozen local kids into the top 30 next year as always...based on their potential!!

Explains why the club is trying to sell tickets to the Awards night. Should be a short night for handing out achievement awards.

Let's hope for a massive turn around in 2025

Our NRLW team may have come last, but holy crap, I wish our NRLM played as good as the women did last night, and the week before as well.
A young team on the rise, only 2 seasons in the comp. Hopefully our men will rise as well - the only way is up. The stats in the OP are hard to stomach though.
