The WTs core....

Just what is there normal game….I'm really curious...What is this style of play they are changing so dramatically...

What are Brooks and Moses asked to do ....Is it they have to catch, pass, kick, tackle differently....I have watched them play for years...they dominated junior football as they were simply better than those they were playing against of their same age...

We get :blah :blah :blah when the Club talks them up....yet we get :blah :blah :blah from the fans about what they should be doing,,,,play what's in front of them well dah..

I was 8 years old when Alan Jones got the coaching gig at Balmain, and I sat on the hill at every Leichardt game with my dad through that ugly '91-92 period. Been a Tigers supporter ever since and I still hope to win every week.

I remember those dark days following that period where we expected to lose every week and we treated every win like it was a grand final win. We are no longer whipping boys per se, but I honestly can't say too much has changed from the perspective of realistic expectation and the emotional response following matches.

Great post TT, but all projects need to be measurable and all goals need to have a time frame.
Goals I would out forward are that we need a team that is:
(a) favourites on a weekly basis more often than not
(b) one of the feared teams competing for champions.

fairdinkum put a deadline of 2017 and got slack for it. IMO fairdinkum was being generous; for me it's 2016 or bust. Remember that 2015 needed to be the breakthrough year. Now a lot of us are conceding 2015 and already deferring our breakthrough season for 2016.

But what if 2017 rolls around on the back of another disappointing season and we still are not yet the dominant force we all envision? then surely we will be forced to admit that we needed other personnel for a dynasty. And in that example whereby we finish bottom half in 2017 then only for season 2018 are we making important changes…..none of us should be that patient.

I just hope we go for a great winning run mid season (2015) and boost our confidence that this team CAN form a dynasty, does form a dynasty and all this topic will be moot.

Well if that comes to pass bigsirro, then we'll still all be here having a whinge, calling for change and loving the WestsTigers irrespective.

Fair comments Big Sirro, however I was under the assumption that 2015 was the cleanout restart year, with the introduction of young and talented players learning the trade and 2016 would be the year of many glorified wins….I could be wrong, however this year seems to be panning out that way...

Either way BS,keep the faith as hard as it may be at times we will benefit by being patient and let this board and new coaching staff show us their worth..if we are still hopeless at the end of 2016 then realistically heads should roll.......

That's the way I've been looking at it TT.

2012 - The year we were meant to challenge for the premiership = FAIL

2013/2014 - New Coach - clean out of the roster and blooding of talented juniors

2015 - New Coach - Set new structures on and off the field - youngsters continue to build combinations and build experience in the top grade

2016 - Make one or two signings to compliment juniors - should make top 8

2017 - Make another key signing or two now that the salary cap is fixed - juniors blooded in 2012-2014 should have 50-80 games of experience - should aim to make top 4, have to at least make top 8

2018 and beyond - Players like Brooks, Teddy, Moses and Siro should well and truly be living up to the hype. With players like Robbie, Lawerence and Galloway moving on our salary cap should be in a position where we can try and make the signings we want to - should make top 4 and challenge for the premiership

I would assume that is the plan, whether things pan out the way management/coach want it to is another story.

But I would assume that is "plan now".

Lets hope all goes to script otherwise management will have a lot to answer for..

Tony33,if things dont get much better before mid 2016 then the Management of the club and board must be held accountable for the poor performances on the field…..coaching and recruitment will definately need an overhaul....

I agree TT.

By mid 2016 I would want us to have added 2-3 players to our squad for 2017 and be firmly entrenched in in the top 8 with a positive for and against.

Id love to dig this post up in 2017 when we finish 15th for the 3rd year in a row

You sound like you're looking forward to it.

You must be a new supporter of the Wests TIgers, all Ill say to you is dont get your hopes up. We might have a year sometime in the next 5 where we will win more then we loose. Just be aware we also may not. Welcome aboard.

I was 8 years old when Alan Jones got the coaching gig at Balmain, and I sat on the hill at every Leichardt game with my dad through that ugly '91-92 period. Been a Tigers supporter ever since and I still hope to win every week.

Sorry Cosimo for coming across curt, I can be slightly terse when I talk about my Tigers.

Having supported the Tigers from the 90's youd have a fair expectation that my post would more likely be accurate then not. I may have been a little pessimistic in my appraisal above, however as a supporter of the previous Tigers youd be well aware that over the last 26 years the Tigers in either its previous form or current have made the finals just 3 times and have been 'rebuilding' since 1991/92 when the then supper stars of the Tigers left. The Tigers released pretty much the entire roster in 1995 to "rebuild their side". I apologise if ive upset fellow forum members by posting such a glum statement. With the exception of 2005 Im just not a believer in fairy tales. The Tigers have been 'rebuilding' in 91, 95, 00, 04 and now 2012 - ???

Ive been a fan of the Tigers for 40 years and have attended more games then i can remember, Ive been a paid member and purchased thousand of dollars worth of merch over the last 3 decades. Ive longed for the days of the late 80's when I was confident my side would win every week and not be considered by other team supporters as filler making up the numbers. I had that confidence back in 2005 and again in 2010/11\. Unfortunately I dont think that feeling will be back anytime soon. Other clubs have a culture of wining, our club has a culture of failure, amateur hour at its best, a culture build on the foundation of non performance.

I passionately love my Tigers and will always continue to support them through thick and thin. Ive also earned the right to have an opinion on how I feel about the club that I have supported for 4 decades. I really hope that it can be turned around but I am a realist. The history is too strong, Ive been smacked around too many times by this club to now again buy into what they are selling…..."rebuilding".

The faith the club has put into this crop of youngsters is make or break. And its reality. The only way out of this quagmire is if this current youth brigade can develop into what us Tigers fans have been yearning for since 2005 when the previous cubs came through. If its going to happen we will see it in 2017\. I gravely fear 2018 will be the next rebuilding phase for this club.

Fairdinkum, completely understand your feelings about our club as you have been through many of the bad periods our club has suffered..even the Tigers of old,pre 2000 before this WTs club was formed…As you say our bad periods certainly outnumber our good and the bad periods seem to stick to the Tigers more so than any other club...Having said that,I honestly think that now with the new Independant Board and the many changes that are continually occurring there is a solid platform being developed for much more on field success as well as off field success ...We have said many times before that patients is the key to this success and I think that there is a great light at the end of the tunnel...Don't forget that there has been a massive overhaul which is still in the process and once completed the club as a whole will be in a solid position..I to have been a Tiger all my life and no other club interests me,I have seen the many dissointments as many others, however Iam prepared to fight another battle against the "bad periods" and will wait and see nwhat eventuates from this new WTs era...cheers FD.....

Spot on Geo. I 'm sick of hearing about their " Normal" game and still trying to Learn and grasp the " New Structure JT is implementing. How long will it take? They practice it every day. Are our boys slow to learn? Well" Hurry Up" and learn it and get some much needed wins boys. 😕
